I wasn't going to come back to Thailand until mid 2005 but now my mate who is going to the Philippines before me needs to do a visa run, so as a first time asia visitor and a week away from his filapina wife i thought i would show him Pattaya except its full. I have tried 5 properties and they are full and now have emailed about another 5 and awaiting their replies. I know, I would of booked ages ago if i had known i was coming. Does anybody know of any decent places that still have rooms available for the 2nd week of January. Leave a reply here or PM me. thanks floyd

short term internet provider
Floyd replied to travelingfox's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Some hotels like pattaya centre hotel use old switchboards and phones are all hard wired. What ever i tried to do ever time i dialed out, a operater would interup the call. Best place for using internet via hotel with prepay card was residence gardens. -
Residence gardens and rate hike?
Floyd replied to wstark's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I would charge more in high season because it is always full. Most hotels in Thailand on the net have a low and high season tarriff. Maybe this is one for our resident hotel manager, Sir Ready -

Interested in hilton honors for future trips. How much does the Conrad internet rate come down by. -
Just been reading a tread on nanaplaza about hardrock cafe, and they are saying the rooms are so small they have to mount the tv on the ceiling. you go figure that one out....

From reading this thread there seems to be a lot of mid-range hotels that do not provide in-room safes. Which is a shame as that takes a lot of burden off one's mind. I took a roughee (but had slut written all over her face) from Champion a gogo the other night and she arranged my jeans over a chair and she placed my wallet in a stagetic posistion. I woke up sometime later to find her hand on it when she realised I was watching her. Fortunately nothing was stolen. I can't be bothereed using safety deposit boxes though I ought to. I am just whipping out 10k every two days to cover my expenses. Seems the only hotel I have stayed at in Pattaya with in-room safes has been Residence gardens which is a great property but out of the heartbeat of soi7/8. I have stayed at hotels in Bangkok, Manila and every hotel I have stayed in Angeles has had in-room safes so Pattaya hotels do need to get thier act together in that regard.

BKK...Conrad, Pres. Solitaire, JW Marriot, Baiyoke
Floyd replied to sensei's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I have stayed at all the properties you asked. Conrad is still my number one choice and would stay there again if rates dropped back to opening promo of $83. JW would be number 2, Baiyoke is in a interesting location with markets and IT store around the corner. Quite frankly I think Solitaire is overrated as a 5 star but still is nice. -
But remember a lot of the better places has a joiner fee. How bout somebody doing a list of the better places with no joiner fee.

Yes, flipper on soi 7 does have balconies but they are small. here one example; and another example from the room;

Hotels with Internet Connection in room
Floyd replied to Soi7's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I syayed there and you have to to ask them for the usb cable. But it may be better to bring your own from home as they are bloody short. Posters on nanaplaza report that the wifi is not too reliable. -
Hotels with Internet Connection in room
Floyd replied to Soi7's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Apart from President Solitaire which provides free Broadband as part of their room rate, Most other major hotels charge between 400-600 baht per day. Too expensive. Just nip down to a 7-11 store and purchase a prepaid internet card with dial up access. Dial up is ok if you just want to view the boards and download some images etc tp pattayapics pics. If its for business and the company is paying go for broadband anytime. -
What about flipper lodge. they have 5 classes of available rooms. who has stayed there. are they a bit nicer than flipper house where i stayed in january.

Stayed vthere once for 3 days. its a dump and the brekkie is a joke.

Pattaya Center hotel now charges a joiner fee...
Floyd replied to Floyd's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Well that explains as i have always booked through their website. Arrive Ptty next week. going to try a different hotel this time. Flipper house. Hope it pans out ok -
Just reading a guys thailand trip review on www.go2phil.com and he was charged a 300baht joiner fee. Can anybody else connfirm this as if comfirmed this shifts them from a previously monger friendly hotel. cut and pasted from his report;I get checked in my hotel about 8:30 and it is a nice place. Cost about 1130Baht a night but being a newbie I made a mistake. There is a 300Baht joiner fee. That means if I bring a woman back to the room I have to pay 300 extra. OK, I think, I am only here a few days. The hotel is the Pattaya Center Hotel on Soi 12. It is a nice big hotel with 17 floors and within easy walking distance to everything.
