Try Asia Pattaya Hotel--Has everything you would want. Swimming pools for all ages, 9 hole golf course, gym, tennis, small children's playground. And five minutes, driving, from downtown Pattaya.

If your sending $$$ to a girl in the Kingdom, I recommend NOT using Western Union. The fees are EXORBINANT Set up an account with a bank like NetBank--You get a free ATM card, NO fees including using the card in Thailand, and NO minimum balance.
-
If you want an EXCELLENT location, albeit noisy around New Year's, check Inn of the Crab on Soi 13. Some nice, new apartments with full kitchens, balconies, and a pool.

While the weather's EXCELLENT, the crowds are thick

Bangkok-The best 1000 baht hotel?
galt67 replied to teelack's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
You can't beat the 'new' wing of Dynasty Inn--EXCELLENT location, good restaurant, so on. A DEAL at 1090/night. -
Here's a couple of thoughts on how to use your miles: 1-Get a NWA Credit Card through their site. It's worth 15k miles. 2-Call NWA and check flights on Malaysia Air--one of their partners. 3-Sign up for EVERY promo, contest, etc. they have going now. It's another way of accumulating miles.

Go to this site: http://blogs.flyertalk.com/blogs/viewwing/ Scroll half way down--He has detailed review of the resort and restaurant. Also, several photos.

I've used the diet recommended here to beat jetlag-- http://www.antijetlagdiet.com/ Works pretty well but NO alcohol the few days prior to flying!

2 Bedroom/2 Bath Hotel/serviced apartment?
galt67 replied to Allover's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Click the following link: http://home.earthlink.net/~galt1967/id8.html Scroll down--several of the buildings have 2BRs, all serviced. Including the Inn of the Crab which is an EXCELLENT location, IMO. -
Before moving to Pattay, you need to ask yourself the following questions: 1-Do you have a GUARANTEED income to support your lifestyle? And it will adjust for inflation? 2-Have SOMETHING to do OTHER than watch TV, walk along Beach Rd, and hit the bars? If your NOT happy now, moving to Pattaya will have ZERO long term effect.

It's the most UNIQUE hotel in Pattaya--and the WORST run

want to learn some thai phrases ?
galt67 replied to floppyjack's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Try this site: http://www.thai2english.com An excellent resource if you need to look up specific words. -
Try this auction site: http://www.skyauction.com Search, Bangkok You can 'win' fares for around $1050 from anywhere on the east coast US--throughout the year.
-
Before retiring, THINK long and hard about WHAT makes you happy-- After a few weeks of strolling the beach, watching TV, and chasing girls in Pattaya you'll probably be bored. Bottom line--If you're not happy now, moving to Pattaya over the long term will have little effect.

Lookin for cheap hotel (Beach Road)
galt67 replied to anto24's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Try the Natural Beach Hotel, facing Beach Rd at Soi 10. Nice pool, quiet. Rooms for around 700B, IF negotiated for long-stays. -
Depending on where you stay, SOME hotels/resorts have small gyms-- Here's a few that I'm aware of: Asia Pattaya, Markland, Marriott.

buying an appartment or condo in pattaya?
galt67 replied to deadman's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Depends upon MANY factors but the most important are size, age, and location-- To offer some idea, cheap studios around 800k-1.2mBaht, 1BR 1.6-2.8mBaht. These are in 15 year old buildings, good location, 45-70sqmt. -
Try doing a search on this site: http://www.skyauction.com You can probably get something on NWA (although they don't disclose the airline until purchase) for $1200 inclusive of all fees/taxes. Also, sometimes they have JAL 'summer specials' from LAX to BKK but they won't be advertised for a few months.

The Starbucks at Soi 13/1 (across from Hopf House) has wireless Internet available through KSC--a Thai ISP--but it's NOT free. You'll need to get a prepaid card--Try the Internet Shop in Royal, 2nd floor.
-
Having stayed there, played golf there several times, etc., I can tell you the following: Definitely geared towards families, reasonably priced rooms, and the breakfast buffet is excellent! And, yes, I think it's probably 'guest friendly' based on some of the 'guests' I've seen strolling around.

Check it out here: http://www.cathay-usa.com/offers/aap/offer.asp Note the standard is 21 days (formerly was 30 days) and MOST of the flights HAVE to connect through HK. The connection could add SEVERAL hours to a 'short' flight.
-
Sorry You are CORRECT--It's 'wired' NOT wireless. And, yes, wireLESS would be preferable.
-
WhiteHouse Condotel, Soi 13, has wireless Internet for, I think, 100B/day.

You can't go wrong with Sandy Spring, Soi 13. Has Star Sports, ESPN, etc.
