  1. John-landy, What do you need a bike for? You used to run a mile in under 4 minutes.
  2. Bloody Elephants, couldn't they go in the dressing rooms. No ball control either.
  3. Don't forget the prawn sandwiches Guys. :)
  4. steveuk, I stayed in Admiral Suites last year just a small bit further down the Soi, opposite side beyond Jade Pavilion. Nice place and no problem with guests. Paid 8800 baht per week. :)
  5. Its a 4pm kick off in the UK so it will be 11pm your time. Have no idea where the best place is, but you certainly will not be short of choices. :)
  6. Does that mean you are going to sign with Galtasaray.?
  7. I would agree with LeoTex. I much preferred the rooms in Eastiny Inn to Flipper Lodge. :)
  8. steveuk, If you are referring to Imperial Queens Park Hotel on Soi 22 I passed through it several times going to and from Emporium Shopping Centre and adjoining Sky Train Station. I don't know whether it is guest friendly or not but it is fairly pricy. I read somewhere that Real Madrid stayed there on their pre season tour some months ago.
  9. Yes, that is the web site I have on my favourites page. There is a lot of interesting information there for all us long haul travellers. :)
  10. Emirates 33" Seat pitch Qantas 31" Seat pitch. Those 2" make a big difference on long haul flights especially if you are a big guy. :)
  11. lloydie, Thailand stays GMT + 7 in our summer time. We change to GMT +1 so the difference is 6 hours in summer 7 hours in winter when we go back to GMT. :)
  12. If they would turn off the goddam noise from the bars I personally would not care what time they close.
  13. Emil, I don't think you are correct re time difference. Thailand is GMT + 7 all year round. California is now GMT -8 since the clocks went back the hour. I maintain the difference is 15 hours and would agree with Yesitisdakid. You are right about the difference of 14 hours in daylight savings time. You have probably subtracted an hour rather than added it on. :)
  14. I would not recommend the Residence Garden for kingsize beds. I am also a big guy, and I thought the beds were too short. Blankets always came adrift during gymnastics.
  15. As Bill McLaren used say "They will be dancing in the streets tonight" :)
  16. JOKER, I have stayed in Tower 3 twice in a Topaz Suite. I never found it noisy. I understand there can be a noise problem with squawking birds in Towers 1&2. Tower 3 is certainly not palatial, but I would regard it as comfortable. :)
  17. Maybe Ml wants to get in some hot weather training for the Olympics nest year.
  18. stevoh, Are you sure? I have just checked Eva website and they are quoting £1,076 for Economy return on Wednesdays. ???
  19. This is the posting in question. A friend of mine has just returned from Pattaya and he told me that he had £800 cash stolen from the hotel safety deposit box in Bay Breeze Hotel...£700 was left untouched. It was stolen during the night..He was later told by someone who used to work at the hotel that this is a common thing at Bay Breeze..Apparently the night shift including security guys share the money..Obvously the hotel staff denied all knowledge to the police. Anyone else know of this happening in Pattaya ??
  20. I am also interested in staying there on my next visit. I came across the following report on another forum. It would appear that there is no hassle with "entertaining" guests. Booked into the Ambassador Royal Suites around 10am, nice to be able to check in early at no extra cost. Could not find reception it is awfully confusing. Basically you go in where the car park entrance is from Soi 13, take a lift to floor 11, cross the patio to the where the Royal Suites start. Their rooms on paper looked excellent value. I was quoted 1,200 baht a night (one week rate) inc. taxes (no breakfast) for their 50 sq m one bedroom suite, but was swung by the Spa of the larger room 105 sq m, despite being over twice as expensive at 2,800 baht per night. (The thought of me and three Thai lovelyís in that Jacuzzi was too good to resist, I hoped it would be as big as it looked in the photos). Both included some nice bonuses like fruit, newspaper and 3 pressings each day. The one drawback was they did not have the in-room safe of the GP. (Later found some did). Check in was fast, had to pay in advance to get special rate. The hotel was dead, hardly a soul around. On entering the room I was not disappointed with the space, large dining and sitting area, huge bar with small kitchen incorporated. TV, but no DVD/video. Separate bathroom with sink, bath, shower, toilet and large walk in shower. The separate bedroom was also huge with double bed, two bedside cabinets, cupboard, small table and chairs, desk and of course the massive jacuzzi and spa area complete with mirrors (it did not disappoint). A perfect party room! My only negative comments are the decoration was not inspired and did not have the class of the PS, but for space and price could not be beat. Location is great, but the real downside is getting up the suites themselves, from Soi 13, it is a bit of a drag and sometimes a little depressing. There is a direct walkway to the main Ambassador Hotel from the third floor where you have full use of the extensive facilities. The Gym is huge, swimming pool excellent and also has a host of other sporting activities. Safe deposit boxes are in the main hotel too.
  21. In Schipol there is a desk offering short tours of Amsterdam. There is also a train station at the Airport which will bring you into Centraal Station. The transfer desks at Schipol are usually undermanned so it would be safer to check in before you leave the Airport. :)
  22. Is that severe turbulence or is someone having a good time? ;D
  23. Oh Oh. Seconds out. ::)
  24. I have read most of Clive Cussler books over the years on long flights. He must have made a fortune from the book sales at airports everywhere. :)
