  1. No problem TabMule. Be sure to keep you head below the parapet. There is a lot of gunfire on this thread.
  2. Someone should let Gazza know this. There must be a football team in the area who could use him ::)
  3. Meanwhile back at the movies
  4. At least the lady in question will not find the weather a total culture shock like she would if going anywhere in Northern Europe. I hope everything works out for you. :)
  5. Hi Dennis Moore, I stayed there for 4 nights in June. I checked in with my TG so had no problems. I saw several guys with companions so I would be fairly sure there would not be a problem with guests regular or short time. The hotel is pleasant with a good buffet breakfast. Rooms are nice. We booked a double but got 2 singles for the first night but were changed to a double the next day without any hassle. The only problem as I saw it is that it is in a relatively isolated and quieter area. Hope that helps.
  6. Soon after De Gaulle died Noel Coward was discussing the event with a friend. The friend wondered how De Gaulle and God were getting on, and if they were having a lively conversation. "That depends on how good God's French is" Coward replied.
  7. I went to a movie in January in Royal Garden Plaza. I noted with surprise that unlike Bkk there was no salute to the King. Very useful link Vash. :)
  8. Great bookshop at the Emporium in Bkk on about the 4th floor. Big selection of books. I got 2 paperbacks for the plane journey; Four Blind Mice by James Patterson and Fire Ice by Clive Cussler. 20% Savings on each. They would have cost me double the price if I bought them in Amsterdam at Schipol. ;D
  9. I also paid with a C/C and had no problems. If you like to eat a decent breakfast I would suggest you give the hotel a miss and take a short stroll to Rosie O'Gradys on Soi 7. Terrific breakfast. :)
  10. I flew Amsterdam - Bkk return with them recently. I went with Lufthansa from Frankfurt on a previous trip. I hated it with its 31" seat pitch. Eva seemed much better with 33". To my delight the aircraft was less than 1/2 full both ways and I had 3 seats all to myself. I realise that I will hardly be as fortunate in the future so I have booked Evergreen with them in November. I understand that the leg room is 37" and given the length of the flight not all that much more. :)
  11. Gammon, Many thanks for the information re Grand Jomtien Palace and Jomtien Thani. I guess if there is nothing on TV the sauna will provide entertainment. :)
  12. Thanks for replies gentlemen. Conflicting views re joiner fees. gammonplayer I want to stay in a hotel with a fitness centre so that rules Jomtien Boathouse out. Jomtien Thani has one but website mentions TV. No indication as to whether it is cable or otherwise. Grand Jomtien Palace also has fitness centre but well down like Welcome JB. I presume the bath bus passes these hotels. Decisions, Decisions. :-/
  13. I am thinking of staying here for a week or so on next visit to Los. Unable to find any reference to it on Hotel section. Does any one have any information, observations to make about the place? I will have a TG with me for entertainment purposes. I assume that there are money changing facilities (other than hotels) and internet cafes in the area. Any information would be much appreciated. ???
  14. Anything by Clive Cussler, Ken Follett. Ideal for holiday reading IMHO as they entertain, and do not require too much thought. :)
  15. Another title for big money ( I mean Man Utd ). As Spike Milligan said "Money doesn't buy you friends, but a better class of enemy" ::)
  16. Maybe Newcastle could come up on the rails and you guys will be buying your own beer ;D
  17. There are many places on 2nd Road which advertise 800 baht for Pattaya-Bkk or Pty-Airport. You will also have to pay the tolls.
  18. Went with Gulf in November. London-Bahrain each way had more room than in Bahrain- Bangkok legs. Chatty guy beside me on the way out which was a godsend in Bahrain stop. Not so lucky on way back and it was like watching paint dry. Only consolation was I could look forward to an exrea inch between seats. ::)
  19. Having spent a week in BKK absorbing the culture I will be going to Pattaya to do likewise on above date. Looking for someone to share limo/taxi. I will try not to be too boring on journey.
  20. What is the norm at Immigration when you arrive at 9.00 am? Long, short, in between. I hope the guy who processes me hasn't had a scrap with his missus that morning.
