Well it sucks that I couldn't go this year but I have to say I am happy with the result. Great job guys. I was a little confused with some of the pictures and the colors of shirts and teams but it all seemed to work out. Congrats Tom and all of Team USA. Hi Guys, Well I bought the tickets so now I am coming up with the spending $$. I will be there and looking forward to the RideHer part first and then taking back the "Cup". Steveo, I'm not worried mate, the last time I played with you you were doing pretty good and I was the one falling apart (Eastern Star I think it was). I have not played in over 6 months so the handicap is up (as always) but once I get in a round I can comment better (thinking I may get some new clubs maybe that wil help, hahaha). Shirt size, well in the US its XL so Thai I figure XXL or XXXL you tell me. Gren

I stayed there about 4 years back and at the time it was great, no complaints about the hotel itself. The location is not on a baht bus route though so getting in and out of town was a chore. As I seem to remember they had a hotel baht bus that would run you into town at a designated time each night (I forget what time). You could also always walk about 50 meters to the junction road and get a baht bus into town whenever you wanted, but it was a taxi and a negotiated price each time (the same as when you return). Being so long ago I can’t remember how much baht is was (50 or 100 I am guessing). I seem to remember doing two trips into town a day, once in daylight doing the shopping, massage, beach daytime stuff and then coming home to change and go out for the night. Its not convenient for frequent retreats back to the room, but out of the way so it was nice and quiet, a great place to relax. Depends what your looking for. Gren

I’ve been to Pattaya a “few” times but have gotten a bit tired of the standard crappy mattress on top of a plywood base bed. Can any of you guys can recommend a place that has a nice comfy bed? If that’s too easy a question, what about at a decent price and somewhat close to the Residence Garden (the normal Golf meeting spot on my trips). Ideas? Gren

Ok, here’s my dilemma, I want to go and I might want to take a special someone, but I have no idea who that might be, and probably won’t till at least 3 days before we would leave. I understand the real world logistics. The trip back to Pattaya, would that also be Utapao or via Bkk? Let me know more of the details as it firms up and the dates to have deposits in by. Gren

Hi Guys, In the process of planning the once a year pilgrimage over to the LOS to play some golf and see whatever other “trouble” I can get myself into. The tentative dates for me will be getting into Pattaya on or about the 2nd - 3rd of Nov, and leaving on or about the 21st. Count me in for the RideHer Cup and the Catz Open, and I’d like to hear more about this Phuket trip please. Playing for the good ole USA, I will have to actually play a few scored rounds and get back to you on the handicap (for those who have played with me you know how erratic my game can be) and shirt size probably XXL in Thai sizes. Well nothing back from Patient yet but I wanted to reply to SteveO, Doggie and Bertie. SteveO, clearly I have been away too long and you have way overestimated my abilities. Using a complex mathematical formula and some knowledge of Pattaya and the possible“lady†in question I have placed the over-under line at 15 minutes. My only big assumption is if there is a short time room over the bar still. If so I calculate 1 minute up to the room, 5 minutes take off clothes and shower, 3 minutes of incredible action, 5 minutes shower and put on clothes, 1 minute back down to bar. Ok sure in the 15 minutes Doggie will already be on the floor, but I will be there to see who takes hold the gold. Doggie, if you do come in third and need some assistance I am sure there are plenty of young ladies who would be willing the “whip†you into shape for the following days event. Bertie, are you really actually playing golf?, and what is this about the secret Team Euro training? If so I will have to protest and ask for some special dispensation for Team USA, well at least for me anyway. My training thus far has consisted of locating my dust covered clubs in the corner of a friends garage and getting in 14 non scored holes before the lightning started (I didn’t take that as a good sign the God was pleased with how I was doing). I am supposed to play a round this Wednesday and will attempt to score it but it gets hard when your playing partners tell you a combo of “ I think it may have went over there / well a green side bunker is kind of like a hole/ once you get it on the green its kind of a give/ just pick it up alreadyâ€. Patient, Having never met you before I have to say bravo. I can feel the comradery developing by the minute on the vaunted Euro squad. In the interests of fairness and just trying to help out I suggest a 3 way drink off between yourself, Pieman and Doggie if he won’t apologize to that incredibly insensitive remark about you being “short and fatâ€. Clearly to me, and surely all of us genteel men of leisure who plan to take part in the RideHer Cup, he should have used your own language and described you as a†not very tall but with a big fat gut person / bloke / guy / whatever generic male descriptive you would like placed thereâ€. That would have been far more appropriate. Now back to my proposed solution, because you know I like to feel I am a uniter not a divider. If fully acceptable apologies do not come, then the 3 way drink off should occur probably the night before the RideHer Cup event. Now SteveO before you even say anything I want you to know I am offended that you are thinking this is some type of underhanded trickery on my part. I think the facts of the situation speak for themselves. This dispute has occurred in front of all of us who plan to take part in the RideHer Cup. The 1st night we will likely all be together is the night before the event. The Ride Her Cup participants would like to see this being worked out. This should be resolved prior to the event to maintain harmony for the Euro team. You see SteveO no underhandedness, just pure warped logic. What do you say guys. Gren

Wow Duece you are a magician with that picture software. I never look that good when I am wearing my light blue tights around the house. Ok to get serious for a moment, what kind of dress are we talking about to get to a 36 handicap. I have played less than one full round in over a year so I need to consider all my options here. Fellow US players, we need to all have an open mind. Please add me to the confirmed list for the good old USA and can I leave the handicap to be determined at this point. Shirt size XXL to allow for shrinkage. Also I hope to be in town on the night of the 2nd so add me to the other Kats/Katz/Cats/Catz (not sure of the spelling and don’t want to offend my heavily drinking South African friend who shall go unnamed in case he would like to maintain some anonymity) event as well please. Lastly to add my 2 baht to the original Duece masterpiece, I did note a MAJOR flaw in the picture. Ben, Hilly and Doggy seem to have their shorts/kilts up around their waist areas which I am thinking may be wildly optimistic, as well as historically inaccurate (please note who I am not picking on my South African friend and remember this when thinking about forcing me to drink†just a few more shot’sâ€). I use the PM function on the FLB site on occasion, but always delete messages after i have read and replied to them. Recently I have been getting popup messages saying I am over my 20 message limit so it is deleting the oldest messages, but there are no messages that I see, whats up? Gren

Very funny Duece, I'm looking forward to the upcoming rematch and this time with a full compiment of North Americans (I wanted to be inclusive for any Canadians that might be on the team) this time around. Hopefully that motor bike incedent will not be repeated but who knows? AM was really the one responsible for that last year with the flashing and all, I was very distracted. Any word on if Hilly and AM will be joining Team E.U. this year? Lastly, to everyone else, am I the only one that sees some simularities in Dueces animation and some of the classic Monty Python bits. You know Duece in the US you might be able to become some Hollywood bigshot. One of the more popular animated series over here, South Park, is not exactly an artistic tour de force but is pretty successful anyway. Just think about it as I feel that that Electricity stuff you deal in is just a fad anyway, just ask the Italians. Gren

Grendel - USA I'm a little confused Carlsberg as you said go a size bigger but your example was 2 sizes bigger? I usually go for a 2xl here for the room so I am guessing that would be a Jumbo (2 sizes up right)? I dont want to look like i'm in a mini dress though. Gren

I'll make it 4 for 4 on this one. I took my shirt home but it has never seen the light of day. Red has never been a favorite color of mine and the huge logo on the back was not really helping. This year I would like to suggest the US team gets White shirts or if not that then Navy Blue. I agreee with Duece the logo of a cup saying "RideHer Cup" and "FLB Bar Pattaya" from last years shirts over the left breast was fine. Maybe add 2nd annual to this one to give it that deep sense of history. Gren

Duece, I "Accidently" clicked on this post thinking it might have something to do with a RideHer Cup Update and was shocked to read your suggestions. I see you have gone to the treachery early. Am I right in thinking this means you are clearly worried that the US /Canada side (do we have some Canadian players?) is vastly superior, kind of like my Miami Dolphins when they faced the Houston Texan's... ooh wait never mind about that football reference. To get back on track let me remind you that last year when AM tried to pay off my caddie to throw Grant and I's match she was shut down right off the bat. Obviously she had not seen AM's boobs a few holes before, or maybe she did and instead of becomeing arroused became jealous? Perhaps this year we should have an impartial judge to decide any potential conflicts that may arrise. Someone like... Joop. I know he has a wedding and all going on but he seems impartial to me, I'm willing to wait till after the honeymoon for him to decide that the US wins. Gren

I am checking back on this post now and then to see if there is any actual info on the new Dynasty Inn, but I wanted to comment on something unrelated that has also come up. I have taken the "non-stop" bus to Pattaya 3 times and on one trip it stopped approx 4 times to let people off along the way. Thank god they didn't have luggage underneath or it would have been longer than just getting off the road, letting someone off and then back into traffic. Since I have started playing golf in the LOS I take a taxi down as I have a bit too much luggage to manage easily for the bus so I don't know how common the "non-stop" stops are. Gren

ff29, Not sure about used but there are quite a few places that sell some decent looking knockoffs. I got a "copy" set of Callaway VFT's a few years back and like them just fine (there was that motorcycle incedent though). I forget how much I paid but it was a good deal as I got my irons, woods, a putter and a real ogio carry bag in the deal as well. I switched the shafts to steel after a few trips because I was breaking the graphite shafts they came with but ymmv. If you want authentic try the sports store in Big C (they have sales on and off from what Ben has told me) and the Golf store off Thepasit Road and Sukumvit in the outlet mall (I think its an outlet mall). Email me if you want more info on where I got mine, I'm pretty sure the guy is still there, but again I forgot the price, sorry. Gren
