Direct flight from UK is about 12 hours. Met and made friends with a few aussies out thier I would disagree with the poll - I think there are more aussies from my encounters over in Patts Maybe it's just a case of they are as bad at doing polls as they are at cricket edit : P.S. didnt realise that is you ricky to start off with - congrats on post 100 by the way

The sportman - carvery - choice of 5 joints even have 2 beef joints - one medium rare 1 welldone ( I had a mix of the lot) - tons of trimmings and constantly being refreshed so that you have full counter of veggies - you will have a job to finish but the quality is awesome - this is maybe one of priciest at 495 bath but was well worth it.

I spent alot of time in cherry bar in soi 8 the moto taxi always cut through new plaza on the way back to soi LK metro - the pictures seem pretty accurate for about pre 9 pm I think the place was busier 9pm onwards. I went drinking thier with a couple of aussie guys, the place is sparse for women under 50 and seemed filled with the golden generation of ex-pat, as a 6 week millionaire this place was not for me - but for an ex-pat who wanted a few beers with his mates I see nothign wrong with the place. Bring your own atmosphere, lots of groups of guys having a good time by the looks of it, free pool in the 1 bar we went into and had a chat to women working thier who were good company for a couple of beers. The photo were taken end of september by the look of it - party advertised for 04th october on one of the pics - i was thier 23rd Oct to 16th Dec - and looked pretty much the same as these pics early evening and a little busier late evening. It is what it says on tin - lots fo bars with cheap beer - thier are a few larger bars with same deal on 2nd road - and look to have more entertainement value, but to each his own. If I was an ex-pat on a budget I would probably frequent the place if I had friends that want a few beers and my p4p was sorted.

I have the TZ9 - i used it in pattaya for 32 days and when i got home stopped working with focus error - replaced at airport 9 days later has 12* optical zoom - any zoom degrades quality alot shutter was stuck for a few days but managed to start working again - shutter seems a bit fragile screen display scratches easily its pretty bulky for a snappy cam pic size is about 4.5 meg easy to operate but this camera for the price isn't that good unless all £250 cameras are crap too

Over sweetened main courses has been my bug bear for last 25 years Trained as a chef and having a career as a chef from the age of 16 working in all kinds of places I have come across a sad trend in sweetening food I have experienced the degradation of western food for many years - tomato puree turning classical dishes into some kind of macdonalds really turns my stomach - some sweetness can enhance a dish, chutneys, BBQ glazes etc are fine - but for last 20 years I've seen the modern secret of success is ruining the tastebuds with sucrose, fractose or glucose. I rebel against these heathen practices - savoury dishes should be savoury - I want meat to taste of meat, chicken chassuer is not chicken in tomato sauce, chilli doesnt not need a pound of tomato puree, gravy should taste of meat juices. Now when you talk about Thai dishes - the above poster has it correct - sweet, sour, spicy, salt, bitter should be in balance - same can be applied to many areas - vietnames and chinise recipes for example, trouble is more and more chefs are pushing the sweet forward as the dominant character of a dish. I dont see how this tide can be stopped - people don't send food back saying it is to sweet - they just eat and put up with it. hey ho I quit being a chef and now make money in IT - off to burger king for lunch :-)

The renovation of what was blue bar next to FCUK/armageddon are still going on I can hear the builders as I type - the sign outside now says they are going to call it KISS agogo - This would be one of the ones mentioned for LK metro I think - unlike office, champagne and club blu this looks to be a 1 unit gogo bar - I saw a jacuzzi/bath as I passed the other day waiting to be installed. I can see a blue neon strobe light on bar already installed so don't think they have far to go before being ready.

Ban Chang Bar Crawl

Sign me up deposit when i arrive saturday :-) -
Just spent a month at the duck - first trip pattaya and first trip thialand - room: mine was room 6 overlooking the devils den - a bonus in itself - noise levels on LK metro very low room was clean and all rooms have recently been decorated wifi in room had good connection, room service every day even did my laundry daily at very cheap price. None of this I think is thier selling point - I came on my own and within hours bobby was taking me out to local gogo for initiation I was made to feel at home every day of my stay , adventures galore with Tony , bobby and the customers of the duck who all made me feel one of the boys. Advice for many of my noobie mistakes was on hand - I met maybe 30-40 forum members, bar and gogo owners thorugh the guys at the duck. Staff are awesome, location great, but it's the people and opportunities to go out and have fun that really sets them apart. went to bangchan 5 times and im now a bangchan addict - I have been home less than a week in cold uk and i'm bored and looking at flights for next week - I have contacted the duck to see if they have rooms avaialble for another month - think that says enough. downside mm - they dont do food yet, think they have been operating as the duck since july - maybe something they do in future - breakfast is 20 yards away - golf bar next to devils den do a good brekkie - plenty of action in the local area - rock house is a great bar and 3 gogo's with a few hundred yards. No swimming pool, metropole and areca a few hundred yards away but dont know prices for pool use - the 2400 i spent on a standard room at metropole was disappionting - needed to put a girl from bangchan in thier for a few days becuase I ended up shagging the cashier at the duck who worked nights oops - The Duck is my first choice and I am now a member of the villayouth drunkenduck fan club. Personally I went to thialand stressed - had the holiday of a lifetime - and I would put greatest holiday ever down to the drunkenduck - a rose tinted perspective but I say it as I see it.

Pattaya bars to be allowed open 24 hours for High Season?
shambley replied to frostfire's topic in Idle Chit Chat
In the UK we can now apply for 24 hour license - hardly anybody does - what it does do is allow bars to open later - good thing in my book - i left a certain bar associated with a small fruit several times at 7-8am - that was alot of hours I was drinking water tee hee -
Champagne raided a few hours ago in LK Metro - 3 van loads of staff karted off :-(

A bar lady and 13000 baht
shambley replied to THE DRUNKEN DUCK's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Well I think the Idiot should be shot for carrying 13k in wallet but then again I was that Idiot :-) Thanks again to Gary and all the staff of LD1 - already had it down as a loss so excellent suprise when he called the duck just on the off chance I was with the group from Duck that has been in the bar earlier - the odds on that back home = 0 13000 cash left in wallet after a nigh't entertainment was far too much cash to bring out. agree, but as my atm only lets me take 13k a day it was next days cash I'd just withdrawn - dont usually take wallet but made a mistake that could of ended up costly - live and learn regards shambley (new member of the Living Dolls 1 fan club ) :-)
