United Airlines and Continental Airlines to merge
bigdelta replied to MM's topic in Airline Discussion
Where in Micronesia are you traveling to? -
I have used DL each trip (see avatar) by choice. If you arrive too early, your room may not be ready if hotel occupancy is high. OTOH,you'll pay for that extra half night if you choose DL.

United Airlines and Continental Airlines to merge
bigdelta replied to MM's topic in Airline Discussion
For years,American has fought consolidation, since their huge mistake in buying TWA.It was almost as big a mistake as us outbidding United for Pan Am (actually we didn't outbid UA,we just offered to take more Pan Am employees than UA did),saying they are just fine as is.Now the screw has turned and they WILL have to find a partner. Now,AA drops from former #1,before Delta buying NW to become #1,to a very distant #3. "Industry consolidation" has been the catchphrase for some time.Another will happen in the US w/i 3 years involving American. And hopefuly,Delta will have bought Alaska Airlines by then as mentioned earlier. -

United Airlines and Continental Airlines to merge
bigdelta replied to MM's topic in Airline Discussion
Well, being #1 for a while was nice while it lasted.......... Here's a look at the combined fleet orders for both carriers: May 3 (Reuters) - A planned merger of two U.S. companies to create the world's largest airline will combine Continental's (CAL.N) Boeing-dominated (BA.N) fleet with the mixed fleet and order book of United (UAUA.O). [iD:nASA00ASG] The move was expected to trigger a scramble between Boeing and European rival Airbus (EAD.PA), as well as engine makers, over the fate of almost $22 billion in outstanding plane orders and control of any future fleet replacement decisions. United recently split a $10 billion wide-body order between Boeing and Airbus (EAD.PA) and had been expected to return to the market later this year to renew its single-aisle fleet. The merger came weeks after United finalised the Airbus part of the wide-body deal, which is an order for 25 A350s provisionally announced in December [iD:nGEE5B715B]. Following are the jetliners on order and yet to be delivered for each airline, valued at latest published list prices: CONTINENTAL ----------- AIRBUS None BOEING 22 737-700 single-aisle $1,408m 13 737-800 single-aisle $998m 6 737-900ER single-aisle $489m 3 777-200ER wide-body $437m 11 787-8 wide-body $1,829m 14 787-9 wide-body $2,797m Total Boeing $7,958m Total Airbus + Boeing $7,958m UNITED ------ AIRBUS 23 A319 single-aisle $1,711m 19 A320 single-aisle $1,547m 25 A350-900 wide-body $6,363m Total Airbus $9,621m BOEING 25 787-8 wide-body $4,156m Total Boeing $4,156m Total Airbus + Boeing $13,777m MERGED AIRLINE -------------- Airbus $9,621m Boeing $12,114m Airbus + Boeing $21,735m I have obviously been following this more closely than most here and while it will benefit both carriers and the industry as a whole, airfares will indeed increase over time because of the amount of capacity removed from operations.Fewer seats=higher fares.Just as years ago when a carrier had a monopoly on a route,it could basically charge what it wanted. The next tie-up may be American and US Scare-though a way off.Or American and JetBlueBalls. And hopefully Delta will buy Alaska Airlines sooner than later. -

instead of awful Sophon cable?I ask because I may be staying for 6 months this trip and don't want to miss Premier League matches.I also appreciate a choice of English language programs as I rarely leave my loom Or a 6 month lease would work too but would have to be from someone that I would not have to fight for my deposit after 6 months. I leased for 10 months in VT2A in '08-'09 and went to TruVision myself for box and service.

Here's a joke for you EADS supporters (even w/o subsidies)LOL!: Airbus chief does not rule out A350 delays-report.(now there's a newsflash) FRANKFURT, April 18 (Reuters) - The chief executive of European planemaker Airbus (EAD.PA) said in an interview due to be published on April 19, that he could not exclude the possibility of deliveries of the A350 jetliner being delayed. Talking to German weekly magazine Focus, Chief Executive Thomas Enders said that Airbus, a subsidiary of EADS, was stepping up all possible efforts to keep to the schedule, but "It is a hellish ride," he was quoted as saying. The schedule envisages the first flight of the A350 XWB in 2012 and start of deliveries in 2013. It was drawn up in 2006 and had been ambitious at that time, Enders said. The now positive development of A380 superjumbo deliveries after delays was freeing up engineering capacities, which could be used to the benefit of the A350s, Enders said. EADS is still recovering from a multibillion-dollar blowout on its Airbus A400M military airlifter. Enders declined to say whether Airbus had decided to compete with Boeing (BA.N) for a contract to build aerial tankers for the U.S. Air Force after its former partner Northrop Grumman (NOC.N) dropped out of bidding in March. He did say Airbus would only compete if there was a chance of eventual success, but this depended on the materialisation of competent U.S. partners. Actually Jeff,we do,as do most major airlines at the biggest hub.Not a dozen widebodies, but several acft of various types. From Delta's CEO,via company intranet: "“I know we’ve all been watching the impact to the operations from the volcano in Iceland,” Richard said. “And we’re back to a full schedule to and from Europe, and we are even operating a few extra flights to help customers get where they need to go. It will be a while before all of the travel is back to normal.” I was one of those agents who was shouted at for 28+ years. -

Many US airlines have added extra sections to Europe and will continue to do until the backlog as eased. Very few have paid "full fare". -
http://www.goldentulipresortpattaya.com/ http://www.goldentuliperawan.com/ Worth a shot or not?
-
None. But my point was no need to exit and re-enter,which is time consuming. As mentioned earlier, many 20th & 21st century airports have a point on arrival for transferring psgrs and those ending their journey and clearing immigration and customs.

One British official described the scene as like 'the last days of Saigon'. How would he know?I see very little in common with those stranded and the last days of Saigon. Were any lives in danger? As Joe said, many items were provided, free of charge-it's simply a matter of getting 1 aircraft to BKK and fly them home. more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/...l#ixzz0m2CVekjn -
To answer your question,no.Mumbai was a destination (lol) for me.
-
Apply online-it's fast and painless and only costs $5 more and saves you 15 mins on arrival, depending how long the lines are. My experience was from Mar '09.
-
If he's transferring,no need to clear customs and re-enter-simply pass through transfer lane and bypass immigration. Is that not an option in Mumbai? It works well in other major airports.
-
If he's transferring,no need to deal with security lines as he'll just transfer to next flt w/o exiting and re-entering secure area. When you exit, there should be lines for psgrs clearing customs and a separate lane for transferring psgrs.
