You just posted one pic that is almost identical to the one I posted. The part I don't get is what makes yours better presented than mine? Honestly. Why is "the presentation of all the dishes very poor" as you put it. Regardless the fact that it is a 230 baht lunch menu FFS...

I find nothing wrong with the presentation of that onion soup, perhaps you could show us, how it's supposed to be...

Well of course! Just like you have the A-listers of the waitresses with her:

As for the steak Tartare, I used to live with an old lady for a few months in the South of France who owned a restaurant in St. Tropez. She always had steak tartare on Thursdays and it was like absolute fucking heaven. Now I understand it must be different here in Pattaya but I am convinced that the French would not go below a certain standard. BTW that was just one option on the menu like the salmon was. You could choose other items as well. I still think that at 230 is a great deal. Hell, just the coffee and creme brulée would worth that much if not more.

I've been trying to post these pics for weeks but don't have one very important detail - the name of the restaurant. My friend took me there and I have to wait 'til we go there next, it's a small French restaurant somewhere around Prathumnak Road. This menu was 230 baht, I shit you not. French onion soup, smoked salmon(or choice of salad), Steak Tartare, creme brulee(creme caramel) and espresso. All top stuff.

It's really not that easy to tell the difference, unless you talk to them all... -

Don't believe he does. I must point out, however, that Cyprus is not Greece.

Yep, that was the biggest turn off for me about Jomtien. Like being in Rostov-on-Don. Other than that, the place would be OK but cannot handle the Russkies 24/7.

That's good then. Thanks, Tom.

It is slightly off topic what how does being married effects the retirement visa, read this somewhere: "What is a marriage visa? This visa is commonly known as a marriage visa due to the applicant being married to a Thai national. A marriage visa is actually an extension of an original non-immigrant visa O or B type visa either a single entry visa or a multiple entry visa. The marriage visa allows you to reside in the kingdom of Thailand for a period of one year starting from the date you entered Thailand on your non-immigrant visa so if you are wishing to reside in Thailand for retireme

Of course not. He only said amounts greater than this are reported to the IRS.

The US, I assume. I thought it was 10 000, though...

The local banks here have a 2000 KD (roughly $7000) standard monthly transfer limit. When I went to the bank, they raised my transfer limit to 20 000 KD (70 000 USD) without blinking an eye. Now all I have to do is to work on having that much money in the bank, which I've never had

Yes, that is what was faintly in the back of my mind, alas I'm no US citizen and my account is in Kuwait. Arabs don't give a shit what you do with your money. Mind you, I have a real modest amount in the bank, nothing to shout about...
-
Thanks, Martin. Yeah, it would be strange if they made it difficult to get the money flow into their country but figured it has something to do with tax and money laundering laws. I already sent them an e-mail that I'll call them as soon as I get out of bed...

I have a question to more seasoned expats living in Pattaya - what is the limit on overseas bank transfers that doesn't raise a red flag and what are the consequences of sending larger sums? I was in a hurry and 2 days ago transferred $20 000 to Kasikorn (from my bank account to my other bank account in Thailand) and already got an e-mail from the bank asking me to call them. Any suggestions?

Well, when my barfines start drinking like sailors, it's usually not because they want sanuk... But honestly, I've rarely seen young pretty girls drinking like sailors, it's usually the older hardened ones. -
Doesn't seem that way. Today back to 31.7 against the USD

New to me. As they say in Hungary ( ) - there's no such thing as old jokes. To a newborn, every joke is a world premiere. And as MM pointed out, the hoax has been updated :)
