  1. Well I had a dream the other night too. The dream was that I was in the FLB and Ben was buying me loads of drinks without me having to open my wallet. Well I got as rat arsed as he was and we left the place after 2:00 AM when the traffic had started to flow on Walking Street. We were so pissed that we both walked straight under a Baht bus and died. So there I was at the pearly gates and St. Peter (or is it Michael .. I never was religious) said to me " Hey stop you cannot just come in here after the way you led your life, you will have to pay penance first" So I asked what sort of pen
  2. Nidnoyham, Well the guy has never given me any reason not to trust him and I have had quite a bit of contact with him. No dont bother with any syndicate that I am in as I am never lucky, so sorry you wont make a quick buck riding on my glandwagon
  3. Don't mess around go along to East Coast Real Estate opposite Shenanigans Irish Pub and also close to Royal Garden Plaza. Ask for David Gray and tell hime Ray W sent you as I owe him a few drinks for the many favours he has done for me in the past. David is probably one of the most honest falang guys I have met in Thailand and makes his business through good advise and honest trading a very unusual feature for Estate Agents IMHO. He has a Website which will give you all the details http://www.thaiproperty.com/ so go look see.
  4. OKAY OKAY OKAY So it is the quiet season now BUT I must get some funds back on my old Condo which is still rented to me until end of June. So I am desperate to get some funds back so you gain and I lose. It is a two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room and two balconies 11th floor corner suite at Pattaya Hill Resort which is high above the city commanding excellent views of Jomtien and Pattaya. The big plus is the rental includes ALL electricity and water. It also includes 3 days a week maid service with all bed linen supplied and on top of that Cable TV is also included. There is al
  5. Yep Ban Pekan which is not far before the big service area on the Highway 7 Bangkok - Chonburi motorway. It is about 40Kms from Bangkok at a rough guess. Excellent course, great condition, very flat and lots of water.
  6. Planetwave, no problem mate. Ask Ben and he will contact me. I go out to Green Valley 2 or 3 times a week with some expat mates and different visitors who come over so you are welcome mate unless you smell and fart all over the greens and tees like Ben <GGGG> As to Ian well yes I have heard good reports about him too. He teaches at the Theprassit Road driving range in Jomtien. He uses video techniques whilst Richard Livingstone is a classic old school teacher so depends what turns you on as both have their own advantages and disadvantages. I personally prefer the classic method w
  7. Yep Doggy has a nice swing too. Pity you can't quite see it though ;D
  8. Stoace. Lessons cost usually 600 Baht per hour given by a professional. I thoroughly recommend Richard Livingstone who is an excellent teacher. HE is 60 and is patient and understanding. He is also a full PGA approved teacher. BEst way to get in touch with him is to turn up at The Haven on Soi 13 at about 17:00 hours on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday and ask for him as he is nearly always there presenting the prizes for the IPGC matches. Hope to maybe see you over christmas then matey. Have a good flight over. Why not start some preliminary lessons over where you live (UK or USA
  9. Sorry Deuce but Doggie tells me it is a condition of you playing in the RideHer cup and anyway it would be very rude for you to refuse a present ;D ;D ;D ;D So the balls will be waiting for you with Ben if I do not get to personally plant them on your personage. [smiley=hithead.gif] [smiley=grin.gif]
  10. Duece I have a nice little packet of Nike Lake balls for you. They are special water seeking editions so you should feel at home with them. ;D I will leave them with Ben for you to pick up as it is highly unlikely I will be able to make it to the event. Anyway hope you have a great day, and that also goes for Doggie, Hilly, AM and everyone else playing.
  11. covered with crabs, warts and god knows what else!
  12. Grendel, I don't think we have met matey but I will try and get Deuce some choice balls and leave them with Ben. These will be special RayW balls chosen with loving care, non-floating but designed to seek the nearest water. ;D Doggie my old mucker, well I will e-mail you that caddy number. I assume it was the one I had that was joking about my repeated scores of 7 on every hole whether a par 3, 4 or 5. You never know there is an outside chance I will make it but it is extremely unlikely now. I wish the European team every success though 8)
  13. Doggie, Yep I think I remember that day you were still pissed from the night before and playing at Khao Kheo and you did indeed play very well, you b*Stard!! ;D Anyway bad news is that I almost certainly will not make the RideHer cup as I will likely still be up in Yesotone with my TG so best take me off the list matey. Hope that we can still get some games in matey whilst you are here as I should be back by about the 5th or 6th November latest.
  14. IPGC (not IPSC!!) meets out of The Haven, Lewinskis and The Bunker. Also sometimes from Shenanigans. Visit the following website for details http://www.thehaven-hotel.com/golf.htm I have always played out of the Haven where I find the golf is excellent and the company really good, so I have never bothered or feel the need so far to even try the other options. I must say those that play out of the Haven keep coming back for more though. Generally the Haven is for a broad range of golfer who takes his game reasonably seriously. High handicappers are welcome too as long as they are not
  15. Deuce good point mate. US team members please note I will get yu all some lovely Nike lake balls at a nice price too ;D As to the lack of Europeans well I am sorry to have to say it but I think it is due to the high cost of the event. Most Europeans are more strapped for cash and more careful about how much they spend than their American counterparts. I am sure this is a major reason for the imbalance, especially when you consider that their are at least twice as many European members here than Americans. So a question. How many Europeans golfers here would have signed up by now
  16. As mentioned before in many threads, if you are here as a tourist say for 3 or 4 weeks then just go along to the HAven on Soi 13 ask for Stephen Beard the owner and join the I.P.G.C. (International Pattaya Sports Club) It costs 250 Baht and current memberships are valid till 2005. Stephen can be a dour character at times but dont be put off as he is a hard working genuine guy who runs the outfit very well. They play various courses on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and they are a great crowd of guys. It costs 400 baht at the Haven which pays for the prizes (some cash too), and the transpor
  17. Generally golf gear here is only slightly cheaper than in the UK and that is probably because the tax here is 7% rather than 17.5% in the UK. I did hear of a Callaway full set of VFT irons, ERC Driver, two fairway woods, an Odyssey two ball putter and a Callaway bag for 30,000 baht and genuine too but I cannot be sure of there source. It was from a guy I sometimes see at some golf matches here so take it or leave it as true or not. I am happy with my set of Hawkeyes so I was not interested.
  18. Try Pattaya City Golf shop on Third Road up near the Pattaya Driving Range and towards the North Road end. They are authorised dealers for many well known makes and do have good sakle offers on as well. Copy clubs can sometimes be okay but the ones I have seen are poor performers compared to their genuine brothers. On the balls front I today saw some Nike good quality lake balls for sale at a Golf Ball store near to Burupha Course and I checked the price at 500 baht for 20 balls and all look well polished and cared for by the local caddies ;D
  19. Hmm as to putting your balls in the water, well it is cooling but not to be recommended. Green Valley course has much less water than Khao Kheo and should favour you guys that use water attracted Nike and similar balls. I must confess to recently starting and finishing my 18 holes at Green Valley with the same ball Just brought 12 new Wilson Staff distance balls for 399 baht at Big C, a good price as normally 1799 baht. These seem only slightly proned to taking a bath so I can recommend them.
  20. Gren, I will look out for some more Nike balls then but you are asking me not to use them myself hmm ?? Well I will think about that then. ::) As to cussing on the golf course .. tch tch doesn't sound like R & A etiquette rules to me old boy
  21. Bigbear. I have checked with a few guys who say most Golf courses rent clubs out for about 300 to 500 baht a round. Seems a lot to me but let me know nearer the time and if you need to rent a set then I will check for you at the courses wherever the cup will be played. Ah I see you are worried about your balls in Thailand. Well a lot of guys have the same worry so I understand your predicament. ;D Just make sure your caddy keeps them clean and watches them at all times. Quite honestly you can buy good secondhand balls either at or near most of the courses. At most courses they are
  22. Nah I am all for 36 handicaps. I believe both men and women should have the same maximum of 36 i.e. just two shots a hole. The ladies after all get to play off the forward red tees to make up for their shorter drives (though I have seen some big hitters who were old women ... take Doggie for example ;D ) Main thing is that the nadicaps should be validated and if not a maximum of 28 should be imposed. You can always get a handicap down at the Haven which should be fairly accurate after say 3 games there. Now there is a greeat way to combat the handicap pirates and it is called play
  23. Hi Doggie nice to bet back in touch with you mate. I e-mailed you as well BTW. I will now check with Green Valley as to what they can offer but then we need to compare with what Phoenix may have offered you already so let me know. Kho Kheow is excellent too, I played there two days ago with the Haven but on the first 9 the tees were awful and the greens were very slow as they needed cutting, but just a nad day methinks. Trouble is Kho Kheow is a long way away. As to tee times I will need to know a reasonably accurate number of players of course and what sort of time you want the first
  24. Pat it will certainly be nice to meet you and of course you can join the three of us that play regularly 3 or 4 times a week. What is your handicap BTW?? We play at Green Valley most days but have at least one day a week out with the Haven boys and Natural Park is often on their agenda. If you go look here http://www.thehaven-hotel.com/golf.htm you can navigate and see that they are scheduled to play at Natural Park Hills on Wednesday 27th August so Pat, when are you coming over here next. Stephen at the Haven certainly gets flustered some mornings but once you understand the guy he is
  25. PAt809, yep I know about Laem CHabang sportsday but I also have four 50% off vouchers calid until October 31st so I can play there with 3 mates for much the same price on a non-sportsday when it is less crowded. As to the Japanese soak tub well I played at Buruphra West today and I did not see anything other than showers and Hong Nams there. I think I saw such an item at either Natural Park Resort, Natural Park Hill or Koew Kheow over the past couple of months. I didnt go into the tub when I had the opportunity as some of my fellow golfers from the Haven were already in there and they lo
