  1. jte, I just checked on Northwest Airlines (www.nwa.com) website leaving on May 15th, with a return on May 31st. They show a few options from Orlando to Bangkok R/T for $1099.40. That isn't realy a bad price from the East coast to Thailand. They don't show any specials right now for flights in May. Flying from Texas, I have the same problem. There are great fares from the West coast to Thailand, but I would also need to book a flight from Houston to the coast. Once you add the two together, the price get to high. For some reason your first flight is delayed, you could loose your ticket on the next, by not booking the complete trip on one airline. Hope this helps a little. LeoTex
  2. doorman, First, I don't think that 66-38 is a cell number, but a land line for Pattaya. To call the number you showed from the US, you would dial 011-66-6-15XXXXX. The 06 is a cell number, when you call from outside of the country you drop the 0. When you call within Thailand you use the 06 when dialing. I hope this helps, LeoTex Pete, looks like we posted about the same time, so I will only add. When we call internation from the US, we must start with 011.
  3. I was having the same problem (page expiry) sometimes. At the computer at work, it started to be all the time. This morning I got a 'pop up' warning. One of the guys put a new pop up blocker on the computer. After turning it off I don't have the probelm. On my home computer, after turning off the pop up control, I don't get that message, after hitting the 'back' button. LeoTex
  4. Andy, OnMyWay, answered the questions. Just go to their website, and at the top click on which hotel. Like he said, the Flipper Lodge is on Soi 8 near Beach Rd. and the Flipper House is on Soi 7 closer to 2nd Rd. Both have the same rate. You should get the price 20% less than is shown on the website if you stay there. I have stayed at both several time, but just like the Lodge, because of being closer to the beach and the view. As they say in the LOS, Up To You. I will be checking into the Lodge about noon on April 4th, and have a 'newbie' friend that will be there 2 days before I arrive. Send me PM if you need more info, or would like to hook up. LeoTex
  5. Andy, Also suggest you read all the threads in this section. Alot of good answers to hotel questions. There will be a few of us staying at the Flipper Lodge at the same time you are there. Just got confirmed for a 'seaview' room for 880 baht. LeoTex
  6. I just got a ticket this past week with Norhtwest for $673, from Houston to BKK. Its their 'spring' fare, and you must start the trip by March 31st, and have 30 days to complete. LeoTex
  7. OnMyWay, Just left click on '3 message' at the top were you see that message. It will open up the area were you can click on any of your message to open and read. LeoTex
  8. Yes, Flash, You must of had other things on your mind. Code Monkey is right on. You can miss them. Every time I would go to either lift, they would smile and ask if I needed a message. Early one afternoon I had come back from a little shopping and couln't turn down the offer. I just told her my room number and to give me about 10 minutes. The next hour is now history. The same service is offered at the Flipper House. The place is back a little ways down from the lift. It is a nice way to start off the afternoon. LeoTex
  9. TimidGuy, I have a 'Visa' card from my bank that is a debit card as well as a ATM card. It goes directly to by checking account. I have used it to pay for my hotel room, they handle it just like a credit card. I also use it, to get cash at the ATM machine, or a cash advance at the Bank, if I have any trouble with the ATMs. I don't get charged a cash advance charged, because it come out of my checking account. One thing I do, is contact the bank before I leave to let them know that I will be in Thailand and also give them the dates. I do this with a back up credit card also. I try to use the ATM machine at Tops, and also that money exchange booth. Its only one block from the hotels on Soi 7 and you are not out in the open when getting money. LeoTex
  10. I have stayed at both the Flipper Lodge and Flipper House on several trips to Pattaya. At the Flipper Lodge you need to get the 'Sea View' rooms, they have better baths and also a nice view of the ocean. Also I like the Soi 8 beer bar location of the Lodge. LeoTex
  11. Crelus, Today the exchange rate was 43.11 for $1, and that was for a $100 bill. Less for smaller bills. As far as the movies, you should be able to get a copy of the Bangkok Post on the plane durning the last leg of your flight. If not you will just need to wait until you get to the LOS and pick up the local paper. LeoTex
  12. tony 59, I agree with what most other have posted here. I don't think it is a place to stay, but I do make it a place (coffee shop) to stop on my first night in BKK. I always get in on the very late Northwest flight. By the time I get checked in and cleaned up, it is about the place I can go and look for my 'new best friend' on my first night in the LOS. I stay at the Grand Inn, just a few meters down Soi 3 from the Grace, so it makes it easy for me for a late night stop. BigDUSA, you are right on the spot about the Bamboo. I like to go in there, almost every day when I'm in Bangkok, since I stay almost across the street. It a good place to relax for a beer in the afternoon, or even take a GF in to play pool or have a drink before moving on.
  13. Hub, I have been at only one FLB party, and that was the first "banana party". I have been there for several Wednesday/Sunday night meetings. I look forward to meeting up with you and other board members in early December. LeoTex I will be at the FLB on Sunday night December 8th.
  14. Hubster, I, also will be in town the first part of December. I will be staying at the Flipper House in the area of all my favorite beer bars. Thats the good news, the bad news is, I will miss all the parties at the FLB. Checking the calendar, I notice alot of first time trips posted on the calendar. I plan to be at the FLB Sunday night, Dec 8th for the meeting. It's a good place to start the night and meet up with a few other board members and prowl together. I have made a few good friends on the Wednesday and Sunday night meetings. LeoTex
  15. Cess, Let me also say THANKS for the picrures, I enjoyed them very much. I hope these will hold me over until I arrive in Pattaya on December 7th. Again thanks for the memories of some of my past trips, I almost thought I was walking down 'Beach Rd' and 'Walking Street'. I'm off to buy more memory chips for my Olympus. LeoTex
  16. pattayaman, I'm not sure about 'Biman Air', but last Christmas I extended my return with Northwest. I had to wait until after the flight over to change reservations direct with the airline and pay the $75 fee at the airport in BKK when getting my boarding pass. I think you need to check with the airline and the restrictions on your ticket. LeoTex
  17. kahala, I have been using ATT Worldnet as my ISP for the last 5 years. In the last 4 years I can only think of maybe 2 or 3 times I couldn't log on. I pay $21.95 each month and have no limit to the number of hours per month. For your email address you use ******@att.net. I have a local dial up phone number, so no long distance charges. Hope this helps, LeoTex
  18. Hey, its his first post, you got to start somewhere. We all share the TG's, but not at the same time, I hope.
  19. Dave, I have stayed at the Flipper Lodge on both my trips to Pattaya. I like the location to all the beerbars on Soi 8 and near the beach. They are very guest friendly, and I like the way they log the girls ID. I tried to book there for March 31st, but they are full. LeoTex
  20. Mr Powerbob, You need to share what you feel is 'interesting' and 'reavealing' for some of us. Maybe you know of someone here very interesting, with maybe a colored past. LeoTex
  21. Pete, I have not had a problem with the 'flashing messages' at the top of the pages. I'm still learning how all this works. Someone said your new board is like "Nana Plaza", while I like that board alot, it doen't have all the options this one has. I do like all the bells and whistles here. I also notice you added at the bottom 'go to top' feature, this sure save my scroll finger, THANKS. LeoTex
  22. That has happened to me a few times. I also log in on the new board. Maybe its happens because I used the same User name and password as the old board. I use the 'remember user and password' on my home computer, this could also be the reason. I just click the log in button and keep going.
  23. Kevin, Go to the top of this page and click on 'The hottest party place in town'. This will take you to the home page for FLB. I think the new layout for the information and the pictures is great. :) LeoTex
  24. I cast my one vote 'should stay' I was just going to ask the question if all the old information and pictures would be moved over here to the new board. I just clicked on "The hottest party place in town" at the top and got the answer to my question. I also like the new layout of the information section of the board. And always the pictures are great. Now if I can just figure out how to get a small picture to my profile, ??? I will be even more happpppppppy. I just need to work on it alittle longer.
  25. Pete, I vote for this new board with all the 'bells ans whistles'. I also like to be able to read all the post in each thread without the need to click on each one to read. LeoTex
