  1. khong fa is the taxi company that did not show to pick me up and wanted full payment, they were threating to come to my hotel to collect the money. I had to pay off the front desk 100 baht each (3 people) to say I checked out and went to the penthouse. the lady that runs the biz is a cunt. thats why I say: 1) never give out your mobile# to a taxi service 2) never tell them your exact hotel, use the next door one 3) never give your real name...I use "mike hunt"
  2. you should post a thread in the ride share transportation section about this. its the bad feedback that hurts future business, and gives fellow boardies a warning. I personally hate khong fa, they are cunts.
  3. I am quite sure its that cheap, they cover band aids and the scrubbing of road rash when you eat it on the road. They also cover if you hit someone. Its thailand, everything is cheap.
  4. good question, I dont know if they have full coverage. I know for my vehicle, its similar to USA's no fault.......but with a thai twist.........its your fault insurance.....being a falang, you are automatically wrong in an accident.
  5. owen', you know whats funny, there is almost no depreciation in a thailand car, those fuckers that are selling used cars want almost as much as a new car. And an old car is selling for 3/4ths of the original new value, even if its nearly 10 years old. Its all because of the thai banks lending money for car buyers, and the buyers defaulting the loans. In a Thai buddhist culture, all is forgiven, and the buyer just goes and gets another loan from another bank, and gets a new car. The mentality with cars is amazing, its not like in the USA, when you drive off the lot. Another one is motorbikes, they hold their value too. ting
  6. I think my motorbike was 230 or 440 baht a year? motorbikes are one of the deadliest things in pattaya......I am in issan, and its still deadly there.
  7. Do you mean $10,000 (10k) or 100k ($100,000) A thai bank aint going to lend you shit, unless you have the money to cover the full amount in your account.......so why would you borrow in the first place? I dont know if you ever sat in the chair and talked to a thai banker, they will treat you like you are a crook, dont have money, and you are equal to a Lao or Cambodian. Although at work at home, what you may earn in 1 hour is what that guy makes in a whole day at his job I am not trying to have a go at you, but you added the extra zero and possibly calculated at $100,000 USD and got your interest rates from that?
  8. I eat a lot of thai street food, and go out to nice restaurants 2x a week. That keeps the GF happy. I use wireless internet, 200 baht for 60 hours. I am not on a budget, but not worried on what I spend (kinda)
  9. in feet: 15 wide 11 tall 30 long 2 stories 2 bedroom, 2 bath bedroom in back where its cooler, aircon on at night only. I hangout downstairs where its cooler.
  10. me: electric 800 water 200 internet 200 mobile 300 to 500 food varies 3000 to 5000 GF 5000 right now, no rent. planning on buying my apartment lets what soi 7 says
  11. take a look at F&B hotel, its quiet, and in the center of town, right next to tops. I also did many 1 month to 3 month stays at baybreeze. if you are doing a long stay, check out srithong place on central road, opposite restaurant Lengkee, its new, clean and was only 8000 baht for a 4 month contract. I am lucky now, my shack in issan is only 3000 baht a month, but it has the squat toilet and cold water
  12. its at the noisy soi lk metro, the place is 1 1/2 years old. tile steps to go upstairs, so you will hear highheels on tiles all night. I looked and it was not too bad for the price.
  13. that would make all the water buffalos come to the outside of my room for the cool air I was thinking along the lines of blowing the hot air out in the late afternoon.
  14. I ran my aircon at the lowest setting, it was quite hot, couldnt cool down the room. then I aimed my fan upwards above the aircon unit, and it cooled down quite quickly and the room stayed cooler. it has something to do with the air circulation me thinks the fan blowing all the cool air all around is the key just give it a try, only will cost you a few baht. after I buy my apartment, I will install those exhaust fans that will blow the hot air out of the room, same as you see in the hong nam
  15. Try having a fan blowing the cold air around in the bedroom at night, I started using mine that way, and the aircon set at the lowest possible, but comfortable setting. It gets really cold that way, and you dont have to depend on the aircons weak fan that burns elec units. Mine is wall mounted fan and blows cold air all over the room. I think its much hotter in my village in issan, than in pattaya.
  16. It seems the board members that use this avatar, that have screws loose. Does that include webby?

  19. new star hotel is only 200 baht, and is just as clean as the skytop
  20. hua khang muenkan maprao
  21. if you have a lot of time, then the bus is all right, otherwise a taxi. if you can find a mini bus then thats a better way to go, it may cost 300 to 400 try calling the dynasty hotel
  22. if you put the wrong thing in the customs declaration, you get the special line and special VIP treatment. I did that one time, but it was not as bad as you, I stated I bought "heart meds" & "cholesterol meds" They looked for prescription drugs and asked about valium, diazepan and muscle relaxants.
  23. Also try cambodia-inter in Soi buakhao, the owner nisan gives competitive prices.
  24. I just called the airlines directly, and had them extend my ticket to 1 year, they said $100 USD but wanted 3800 baht, I scored at the time, because the exchange rate was good.......I saved 250 baht. That was China Airlines.
  25. that may be fine for a short trip. I dont have incoming calls from home, so no big deal for me. If you live there for long stays, you need a thai cell phone, or 2. I just wont let that ripoff company steal from me again. I hate skype, and when I have the time again, I will have more fun with them.
