nice condo or apartment help?
ROLAND replied to bigmofo's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Long way from the Beach and town, try Sunshine Vista on Soi 3 -
Sandy Spring is 47 yards away from the Beach , small hotel to the south of Sandy and large condo block to the north. Another hotel and condo block opposite and also a building site which may or not be finished by the end of October also another building site to the north of the condo block which again may or not be noisy at the end of October. You might be ok but then again you may be as I was and totally pissed off with the noise, lorries etc and want to stay elsewhere. Rgds, R

Only landside after passports , customs AFAIK, I've never seen an ATM before I've gone thru customs.

Yup same same for me in September, 850 a night in new wing but booked personally at thr hotel.

That's moving on quick on the new condotel site, hope they don't have another 'business dispute' there and have to stop for a few months again.

Nana is now 1177 a night so that is out of the 800-1000 budget, personally I'd rather sleep in a bus shelter on Sukhumvit Rd than stay in that shit hole. -
I found last month that there would be an odd quiet day then all hell lets loose again, the worse noise I'd say would be next to the Dynasty especially if you have an end room as the corridors are open. The trouble with the place next to the Dynasty is it has been stop/start all year and so I guess they might jack it in for a few weeks and then get going again.

Only 4 or 5 rooms but as it is low season there should be a vacancy or two plus it's next door to a gogo with a couple of decent sorts in there and just up from a couple of ST bars.

I stayed at the Haven since it first opened but last year tried the Sandy but someone told me the Haven had improved but it hasn't. It's in a great loacation if there wasn't the fucking building going on and the pool is good but it's just all the hassle and shit you get there.
-
Learnt from you but I have no financial interest in the place, just happened to discover a place that some guys might like.

Having got so pissed off last month with all the crap at the Haven and the noise in Soi 13 I checked out some of the rooms in Soi Yamato in the hope of finding something decent. I stumbled across the Yates bar and was surprised at the quality of their rooms, brand new refurbished with decent aircon and ceiling fan, shower with plenty of hot and cold water, large fridge, TV with all the cable channels and plenty of space in the room. I was quoted 500bt a night but was told the price would be negotiatable for weekly stays or longer and to me this is a decent place to stay if you're on a budget
-
Yup the whole of Soi 13 is like one big building site with noise, lorries , diggers the lot. With the upcoming rainy season nearly here it will only make things worse as even with last weeks showers the Soi was flooded with muddy water and I'd hate to see what prolonged rain would do apart from of course prolonging the work.
-
Wouldn't like to say what stage things would be in November, too early to call at the moment. I'd say anyone staying in Soi 13 in the next month or two though wouldn't be too happy.

For anyone interested the latest on Soi 13 last week was pretty bad, the building work noise in the space between Ma Maison and Golden Crab is terrible and it woke me up every morning and continued right thru to the evening and it's the same with the new White House hotel next to the Dynasty. It is just like staying in the building site with all the lorrys, mud/dirt everywhere and when it rains then the mud flows down Soi 13. Mrs Roland didn't mind it as she used to work on a building site in Bangkok and was interested in seeing what was going on but if you want a nice relaxing place to stay t

Cheap hotel to live in permanently
ROLAND replied to torrenova's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
So would you buy something on the reccomendation of someone who is not even in the country or prefer your own judgement. You could walk around the Walking St area, as Torrenova is specific where he says he wants , in an hour or two and check the place out and find what he wants. Anyway up to him and up to you -

No problem , didn't take it as one. Just can't understand why a guy who says he lives in Pattaya and owns a bar needs to trawl a board for advice when if I was him I'd spend an afternoon looking round the area myself. Maybe Torrenova is just another internet dreamer ? -

Why does he say then 'Move from the hotel he currently lives in then ' ? The time he spent typing that post out he could have walked up to Walking St and looked himself -

If you live in Pattaya now surely it would be easier to walk around and check out the places yourself ? -
Bangkok to Pattaya. June 7th, 06:05. TG 911 f LHR
ROLAND replied to cottesloe's topic in Meeting - Cost sharing
I'd like to see you after a 12 hour flight fuck about with your luggage trying to get to Morchit or Ekamai bus depot then a 2/3 hour ride with your knees up against your chin and then negotiate the baht bus mafia at the Pattaya bus depot. Me I'll just jump in a nice aircon taxi and have a nap for 90 mins or so before I hit my hotel. Why don't you see if you can get someone to share your taxi to the bus depot and then you'll save 50baht -

If you can afford to stay at the Sandy Spring surely you can afford a cab on your own After a 12 hour flight why do you want to fuck about getting a bus ? -
Brand new airline , only been flying weeks so I doubt anyone has been on them yet. Maybe you can let us know ?
-
I think you better check your arrival time
