Streets are quiet in Bangkok today. Military declared it a holiday for everyone. At the moment the military have declared support for the King, have suspended the constitution and have imposed martial law.

Big Chief, SEARA in Bangkok sells Ivanko equipment. On Thonglor not far off of Sukhumvit. They usually give at least 30% discounts off of their listed prices. Link below SEARA

But then through the wrath of some diety, Thailand would be susceptiple to tornados.

I will second OnMyWay's recommendation of the shop at Soi Buakhow and Pattaya Tai. That is where I bought my Mio and the service has been excellent.

Tourist Police? Useless as tits on a bull. Had 6 baht of gold stolen from my room at The Monaco condo in Pattaya in 2000. Went to the Tourist Police. Told me they could do nothing. Too lazy to get off their asses. They told me I had to go to the Pattaya Police Station on Beach Road and Soi 9 to file a report. Had the same treatment there until I got on the mobile and called a favourite TG. She hustled down there with 2 of her friends in tow. A-FUCKING-MAZING turnaround in the police attitude as they were staring at the girls with the short skirts and lowcut tops. The police fell all over themselves taking my report then. Funniest thing, although not at the time, was the Captain and two of his men ran out to their truck with the girls and drove off to the condo leaving me in the parking lot. I got a motorbike taxi and told him to follow the police truck. Look on his face was priceless. Got to the condo just after the police. They actually did a decent job of "investigating." Questioned staff at the condo, took fingerprints. Interviewed a "suspect" girl from SuperBaby. No arrests or convictions that I am aware of. Big Chief, Hope your problem gets worked out with no loss of life and/or money.

I used a Mr. T's service 3 times. Don't know if it the same Mr. Toom. 1st 2 times were great. One pickup in a newer spotlessly clean Toyota Van that could haul 8 and it was just me and 1 piece of luggage Bkk to Pty. 2nd time in a nice Volvo Pty to Bkk. 3rd time had the same experience as guido13. Guy drove around Bkk for an endless amount of time looking for fuel. Won't use that service again.

I did a little checking into this and I am sure for the right amount of vigorish it could all be avoided but this is what the process would be: Go to Vehicle licensing office Sit in classroom for 2 hours as an instructor goes through highway code. (All in Thai, no English translation) Write 30 question test. Score 75% or above and pass Take eye test Take another simulated driving test Take vehicle test on a small circuit that includes cones, parallel parking etc.

I am fully awake. Even had some coffee. There is a difference between being a caddy and a store, restaurant, hotel etc worker. Most caddies I have seen don't wear make-up or lipstick. Therefore the ones that do may be sending a signal. You obviously have no clue about subliminal messages. Wearing lipstick (especially red lipstick) is often seen as a sign of a woman who is ready and willing. Try golfing at Panya Indra and you will see what I mean. Piss off if you don't like the thread. Some people want to gather information. You and pig001 only want to rip others. Or are you a closet homosexual and pine for male caddies?

2 weeks ago I asked a cute caddy at Khao Kheow if she does "extra service." She said no. I smiled and said "mai pen rai." She took it well. Laughed and joked about it the rest of the round.
-
horn48, I asked this exact question in an earlier thread. Responses I have received is that Phoenix Golf and Country Club has a few that will provide extras. Panya Indra in Bangkok is also reputed to have many that will give that little "extra." I always tell the caddy master that I want to chose my caddy. Most courses will allow it. I try to get the ones wearing some lipstick and a little makeup. They seem to be the most willing.

Kev, There is no bar at the airport. Brunei is a Muslim country. Drinking alcohol in public should be avoided. If you have a container other than the bottle or can your alcohol came in, I would suggest you use it. Can buy any type of mixer, water, Coke, Sprite, 100 Plus etc. Mix yourself a drink discreetly. Same on the airplanes. Don't be overt about it and it can be an enjoyable trip. I made about 65 trips through the Bandar Seri Begawan Airport over a 2.5 year period.
-
Absolutely Sweet F*ck All. Brunei's airport has almost no amenities. I suggest bringing a book, video game or Valium.

Jack Corbett jtiger, Now you and Mr. Corbett are requesting that I supply a Curriculum Vitae of my good deeds? This has devolved into a religious debate rather than what the thread was about. Is Pattaya Safe? I read Mr. Corbett's story. To me, the way it was written, it appeared that Mr. Corbett was far more interested in getting drunk beyond functioning most nights than he was in attempting to give a nice young woman some decent reward for her goodness. I was commenting on the fact that through the story and link he posted that he was a sad and sorry individual and was one of the reasons that Farangs get a bad name and that crime against Farang's may be on the rise in Pattaya. You claim otherwise. I will give your hypothesis due consideration. Jack Corbett Written in the same style as one of your Dick Fitswell stories I see. I sincerely doubt the whole planet is anxiously awaiting to know why I am so special and I would ask all of the Board Members who read this that you and your TG's, BG's and loved ones, please continue on through your orgasm. I do not want to be the cause of some of you getting "blue balls" or worse. Hey, this a good deed by me. Makes me pretty special if the 5000 or so BM's read this, pass it on to their friends etc. I best add that to my CV.
-
Only confirmed my initial opinion of you. Thank you.
-
jtiger, You are right. I don't know Jack Corbett. I read a story he wrote. I commented on it as to how it read to me. I was not being sanctimonious. Jack in his response to me brought up the whole Christian and religious aspect wanting to compare Christian credentials. Now you weigh in that he is "irreverant." Putting a stripper in a nun's outfit holding a bottle of booze, hey I bet that would win high marks from his Pastor, Priest or Reverend. So which is he? The Christian do-gooder? Or quite the opposite? You will also note that in my first post that in my last paragraph I apologised if I was wrong. Was I? I don't think so.

So you purposely bought this camera only for the specific idea of taking photo's of this girl? If so, then yes your gifts would have been expensive. However, if you had purchased the camera for your own enjoyment and taking pictures of her was just part of a hobby/profession your total contribution for someone who potentially saved your life was around US$100. Rather impressive. Nowhere in your story does it say you were very tired. Just that you had been drinking a lot. Unlike an early childhood Christian like yourself who obviously has divine powers, I cannot pretend to know what you were feeling other than from what you wrote. Being overweight and being an alcoholic has what correlation? Lots of alcoholics are skinny, lots are fat. You run every day or almost everyday and are only 3 pounds over your college sophomore weight. Excellent. Wish I could say the same. My best friend who is an alcoholic has a similar running regimen as you. At 172 pounds he is 2 pounds less than what he weighed as a high school senior. He is still an alcoholic. I never professed to be a doctor. Nor to wanting a cult of SAMMYISM. Is that the same as Dogbertism? My comments were in reflection to a story YOU wrote. Maybe you should get off your Christian high horse or are you like many other wonderful Christians from the USA like Jim Bakker etal?
-
Mr. Corbett, I read your Little Angel story. Kept waiting for the part where you actually did something to repay this girl's kindness and never saw it. I could be wrong, but from your tale all I see is a sad and sorry excuse of an individual who if isn't an alcoholic already, certainly is borderline. Binge drinking, blackouts, standing people up for meetings, classic examples. First time you did a no-show I could put down as a true misunderstanding, but the rest of it is a shame. People like you give Farangs a bad name. It's no wonder some Thai's don't give a shit about ripping off or killing foreigners. If I am wrong and you did repay her in a way other than a cheap photo then I apologise.

Arrived Pattaya - December 2005 Departing - Never if all goes well. I would like to participate in all events unless I am outside Thailand on a business trip. -
My Vietnamese Agent cancelled his trip to Bangkok at the last minute giving me a free day. Acting on a great tip by Doghaus (thank you sir!), I played Lam Luk Ka Country Club near Bangkok today. Thursday is their All Day Pass day. 900 baht green fee for as many holes as you can play. I teed off my first 18 at 6:30AM on the West Course (C&D). Finished at 8:45AM. Had breakfast, teed off my second 18 at 9:15AM, completed at noon, 9's D&A as C was packed and B was closed for green coring. I have yet to play on a course in Thailand that has fairways and greens that are as well groomed as Lam Luk Ka's. I have played Laem Chabang many times and I believe Lam Luk Ka is kept in better shape. They have an absolute army of groundskeepers. Had a good caddy #336, although her English skills were not great. First 18 she was training a Student Caddy but it didn't slow us down. Had breakfast after the first 18. Nice clubhouse but the service was not great. Ordered the American Breakfast which was supposed to come with toast, 2 eggs any style, ham, sausage or bacon, coffee or tea for 172 baht. They brought me my tea and a nice cold watermelon juice (bonus). Then came my scrambled eggs. Asked where my toast and bacon were. Toast came 10 miuntes later. No bacon. Asked again. She didn't understand. Pointed it out in the menu which had Thai. 5 minutes later got 1 piece of ham, 1 sausage and 1 piece of bacon. Cost: 1st 18: 900 baht green fee, 600 baht cart fee, 250 baht caddy fee = 1,750 baht. 2nd 18: 0 green fee, 600 baht cart fee, 250 baht caddy fee = 850 baht. Tip to caddy for putting up with me for 36 holes: 500 baht Total: 3272 baht. Great deal IMHO. Other things I noticed. Water hazards everywhere. If you don't hit it straight...kerplunk....5 times for me over the 36 holes. Over the past 3 weeks I have played Khao Keow(3x), Laem Chabang(2x), Burapha (2x), Phoenix(1x) and Rayong Green Valley(1x). All have fearsome infestations of flies and mosquitos. Lam Luk Ka was absolutely devoid of mosquitos and/or flies. Due to some big Dragonflys? I am no Entomologist so not sure but it was nice not being pestered by bugs.

Members should stay away from Caddy #288 at Phoenix. Worst caddy I have ever had. Lazy, never gave me yardages, break of the green etc. On the few occasions Iwas in the rough she would be sitting in the cart waiting for me to find my own ball. Turfed her after 9 holes. Got Caddy #366 who was very helpful if unattractive.

Thanks for the excellent responses. I will have to remember to look for the lipstick I know Panya Indra in Bangkok has lots of caddies that offer a BG experience.
-
Anyone know what the "going rate" is for tipping caddies? Other than the "up to you" answer, is there a range that most players are paying? I tipped a girl at Khao Kheow today 240 baht and she was ecstatic. I didn't think it was lot. Back in the mid 1990's I was counseled to not tip more than 180 baht (10 baht per hole) so I thought I was factoring in some inflation. And are there any courses that "specialise" in the caddies providing "extra service?"

Blazer, I think your best bet is to try Thaniya Plaza in Bangkok. I did a websearch and came up with the 2 places that might sell KZG. Some of it is in Thai and I can't interpet it.
