  1. I bought a set of Daiwa Hi-Trac Tour's 18 months ago at Thaniya in Bangkok. Got a great deal on them with some haggling. US$350.00. gp2002 is correct you would have to spend a good half day checking out the various shops there. Singapore has plenty of golf stores but I never found the prices to be all that terrific.

    HSBC

They apply the "override rakeoff" to my withdrawals. Can't say that will happen if you are using an ATM card issued by HSBC in the USA. I plan on switching to United Overseas Bank (UOB). They have many branches throughout Thailand and they are very keen to get farang tourist business.
  3. This is not an isolated incident. I was working in Kuala Lumpur up until mid December last year. Cancelled my telephone service. Received a bill last week for RM10,567.03. Not only that but that have yet to return my RM1075.00 security deposit after 4 months.

Bud, I have 2 HSBC accounts in Singapore. I am charged for using the cards at all ATM's, including the HSBC branch in Bangkok. HSBC in Thailand sucks. They cater to very wealthy Chinese Thai and don't give a crap about foreigners and tourists. Both myself and a friend have had difficulties with the branch in Thailand.
  5. I have used Khun Phong at 301/74 Soi Theprasit for land purchase, Thai Company incorporation and obtaining a work permit. His English is good and he has a lot of expat clients. I believe he caters to that market as we pay better than Thai's. Tel: 01 753-4481 or 038 300680
  6. Thai driver's are an absolute pleasure and delight after experiencing the horrid driver's in Brunei and worse yet in Kuala Lumpur.
  7. Anyone know a good club repair shop? Shafts and grips. I heard there was a German(?) who has a place on or near Soi Buakaow. Directions, telephone number etc. appreciated. Please don't recommend the Driving Range on Pattaya 3 Road. Used the Aussie before with poor results. Found the place I was looking for after no responses to this question.
  8. davethailand, Piss off. Some of us want to know the goings on in Pattaya and the GoGo scene. If you have other information than post it and refute the other claims.
  9. Doggie, Please sign me up.
  10. Excellent description. I just want to know what the training/medical staff have in those "magic" water bottles that instantaneously resuscitate the befallen actors on the pitch who go down as if hit by a high powered rifle. I have heard, seen and participated in teammate brawls during practice but once the game is on versus an opposing team, they are the enemy, not my teammates. Newcastle should banish both players to the Canadian Professional Soccer League.
  11. Soi 3 near 2nd Road. South side of Soi. Lady does an excellent job. I've had a few TG's comment that it is great service and is reasonably priced.
  12. I thought I would try Alex. I sent him an e-mail in early February regarding a trip I was making to LOS at the end of February. He never responded. :crying I used my back-up plan and regular driver, Chaisit. Chaisit has not let me down yet. Good English, decent car. 1200 baht all in including tolls. +661 864-1693. He answers SMS quickly. I always send him a reminder the day before I arrive.
  13. P3, I stayed one night at the Queen Vic, Room #1 on February 25, checked out after 3 hours. The bed was horrible. Old, springs poking through, very uncomfortable. They didn't have any other rooms available to move me to at the time so I can't comment on whether or not they have nicer and newer beds. The staff are great.
  14. I humbly disagree with the Baron and Barrio Runner. Most TG's I have met prefer their date of the evening to be wearing long trousers. Anything cotton is usually the best. Synthetic fabrics do not breath as well.
  15. Bella Villa Prima on Soi 4 has electronic safe deposit boxes in room. Standard room 1050 baht/night.
  16. I had heard lots of good things about Cathay Pacific so I booked with them in April of 2002. Vancouver-Hong Kong-Bangkok. Economy class. They were in such a rush to get us on the plane and off the ground they did not take enough time to properly clean and empty the septic tanks from the toilets in Economy Class. Result = 1 out of 6 toilets that worked for a long 13 hour flight. Worse was that they refused to allow cattle car class passengers to go forward and use the Biz or 1st class latrines. Line-ups to use the toilet were over 1 hour long. Ridiculous. I wouldn't fly them again but others have had superb service. My bad luck I guess.
  17. Although I missed the tournament last year, I would like to play this year. I would even loan my skills to the Yankee squad if need be. ;D ;D Preferred timing would be last week of October and first two weeks of November.
  18. Air Asia is based out of Kuala Lumpur. They fly only 737-300's. AirAsia operates a single type of aircraft, the Boeing 737-300, regarded as the workhorse of the industry. The 737 is the best selling commercial jet of all time, made popular because of its efficiency and cost effectiveness. By building up a uniform fleet, AirAsia is able to keep fares low, as costs for spares and training are reduced. Plane Truth Boeing 737 - 300 Capacity 148 passengers (seated in one class) Engine CFM56 - 3 series; 22,000 lbs thrust Cruise Speed 495 mph - 792 kph - 0.785 mach Max Altitude 35,000 ft (10, 668 m) Range 2,595 mi (4, 175 km) Wingspan 94 ft 9 in (28.9 m) Length 109 ft 7 in (33.4 m) Tail Height 36 ft 6 in (11.1 m) Flight crew 2 flight crew, 3 cabin crew During an average year, a typical Boeing 737-300: Flew 1.85 million nautical miles (2.7 million km) - enough to circle the globe 86 times Flew 3,600 hours Burned 2.88 million US gallons (10.9 million litres) of jet fuel Changed 60 tyres Changed 12 sets of brake I believe they have modeled their company after Southwest Airlines in the U.S. and Westjet in Canada. Generally the only frills they cut back on are the food and drink service. Other than the minor wing flap problem they had the other day, I would say that they are a very well run airline. I have flown them many times in around Malaysia.
  19. Unless there are child support payments as part of your alimony payments, I say fuck the bitch back home. Don't give her a dime. Spend it on yourself and live well. ;D
  20. I have had to go to the Pattaya International Hospital twice over the past 9 years. Nothing serious on either occasion and no surgery required. It was by far the cleanest, most professional hospital I have seen in Thailand with the exception of Bumrungrad in Bangkok. It sure beat many hospitals in Canada as well. They are very helpful in providing all the proper forms if you have a medical insurance policy and want to make later claims against the policy. The other one I have heard mentioned is the Bangkok-Pattaya hospital. Some claim it is somewhat less expensive than Pattaya International with the same excellent quality service.
  21. Hotels in Pattaya with toilets, water, roofs etc. etc.? You have got to be kidding. Definitely 3rd world. I agree with BigDUSA. Best ship the caravan over. Make sure you have an ample supply of petrol as well or you will have to fart in the gas tank to be able to drive around in the semi cleared underbrush.
  22. She works on the corner of 3rd Avenue and Centre street in Calgary. Always on the rag. [smiley=grins-jump.gif] [smiley=grins-jump.gif]
  23. Fonz, It appeared that the Mike Orchid Resort would be open first part of February. On January 10 they were moving in all of the beds, curtains, and other furniture. Looks like it will be nice. Sammy
  24. Mike Beach Resort - Soi 4 Mike Orchid Resort - Soi 4 Sabai Inn - Soi 3 Sabai Lodge - Soi 3
  25. The hotel next door is called the "Mike Orchid Resort." There was a big sign saying "Grand Opening December 23, 2003." Of course it was nowhere near being complete. My best guess is that it will likely open in February/March this year. Looks like it will be really nice. No idea what the room rates will be.
