I actually NEVER bought from a tailor shop without getting a fitting. I might be ignorant about the materials (and to some extent about how it SHOULD fit) but I know how I would like it to fit. About 50% of the time I am OK with the fit the other 50% I get it changed :)

I was in Udon for Songkran in April and enjoyed my visit there. I stayed at the Irish Clock and the room was good and clean and the pub is nice. I was however really annoyed when I read on a notice on the door that there was a 200 baht joiner fee. I asked the friendly host and he told me that a guest had lost some valuables so he had introduced a night watchman. The intention was to cover the salary of the night watchman by the joiner fee. The joiner fee can be avoided by registering a guest before 22 and informing the guest that the ID card cannot be retrieved until 8. I do not agree with this new policy since I am sure it is still my responsibility to protect my valuables and did not ask for a night watchman - so I will stay in Top Mansion (cheaper anyway) again next time.

On the trip I had to Thailand in April/May I once again rented a small motorbike from Mark (Yamaha Nuovo LC). The bikes Mark is renting out is not new - but they are really well maintained and I have not had seen any "wrecks" with his "Ferrari sticker" around town. For me - and many visitors like me - it is a great thing that Mark will deliver the bike to and pick it up from anywhere in the Pattaya/Jomtien area. In the past I have gone out on foot and with bahtbusses to a good place to hire a bike and - on departure day getting back to the hotel on departure day is a hassle I would pay a little to avoid. The good thing is that I do not have to - the standard price at Kessaya Motorbike Rentals for a small bike for a month is 2000 baht with a 1000 baht deposit. On this trip it seemed someone had tried breaking off the two rear indicator lights and one was almost only hanging by the wire. Mark showed his commitment to good service since he fixed it on the spot and paid for it himself (even though I told him I was expecting having to pay for it). The price tag for the repair was slightly above 1000 baht so it was a positive surprise to get the 1000 baht deposit back when Mark collected the bike. www.kessayamotorbikerentals.com

How did it go ? I know it SHOULD be an option for a cheap night out - but the friendly women in Babydoll almost always ends up making my visits a bit more costly

I am kind of with Gabor on this one - while I do realize that the bars need to make money to stay in business - I like getting back in room with the bf before 3 anyway :)

I decided I wanted to try the Moom Arroi which should be in Naklua - but in spite of driving slowly and trying to spot it all the way from the Loma roundabout to the Naklua market I could not find it - does anyone have a map ? We ended up at Moom Talay at the Trattoria Tuscana - and that was nice enough too :)

Which places would the esteemed members (and also the rest of the members) recommend to have lunch with a female friend. We are not (and will not become) intimately involved so I don't need to impress anyone but at the same time I would like a nice ambience and decent quality of food.

You are right - I mean train or bus - for some reason I don't think of taxi as public transportation even though it is - just not public mass transportation which I seem to think of as the same. So I am guessing it is the bus - then my new question is - how/where to compare the different bus options - and how to actually find the bus once I decide on one ?

Can someone in the knowledgeable membership tell me what the easiest way is to go from Prachinburi to Pattaya (and back) if you are using public transportation ?

I did stay at Tropical Berts - and looked at the rooms at Skytop - but not stayed there. For me Tropical Berts is far better VFM. I THINK but am not 100 % sure it was the new location I saw.
