Silly me thought Lionel Messi played right from the start. Bosnia played surprisingly well and matched it with Argentina in every department. They were unfortunate with that own goal after 3 minutes. At times I thought Bosnia played better than Argentina. Except from that one very good goal, Messi never achieved much against the good Bosnian defence. They were good in attack also, but were denied by the very good Argentinian goalie. Argentina can count themselves lucky to have won that game 2:1 I thought France looked very pedestrian in their 3:0 win against a weak Honduras, especially af

Hi Evil,It's great to hear that soccer is at long last recognized in the USA as the great sport it is. I am looking forward to the USA-Ghana match as well, played Tuesday morning at 5AM Thailand time. The USA have a strong side, coached by Jürgen Klinsman, who played for Germany, when they won the 1990 World Cup, beating Argentina in the final. I am now getting ready to watch Argentina play Bosnia in Rio this Monday morning here in Jomtien on Thai BTV. Cheers

Robben signed another contract with Bayern a couple of weeks ago, which ties him to the club for another three years. He is happy playing and living in Munich and so is Bayern. Never mind missing that penalty in the Champions Cup Final against Chelsea a couple of years ago. I watched Switzerland play Ecuador. The Swiss scored the winning goal (2 to 1) in the last seconds in extra time of the match. Amazing! Now we are watching France playing Honduras. Mrs Gonzo is a bigger football fan than I. So much for my resolve to have an early night.

I promised myself to only to watch the England-Italy game last night. Like an alcoholic I had to watch the lot, all of the four games. Now after a bit of a sleep I feel like I have been on the piss. I will watch the first game at 11PM tonight only, the Switzerland -Ecuador match. I promise. I enjoyed the Japan- Ivory Coast game this morning. Japan played the better game and led 1 to 0 until the great man Drogba (ex Chelsea) came on in the 60th minute and turned the game around. Ivory Coast scored two quick goals and won 2 to 1. Great stuff.

Don't be so negative, mate. England deserved a draw against a very good Italian team, in my opinion. Going by today's performance, Italy will beat Uruguay and Costa Rica and will go through to the last 16.

Top class game so far between two evenly matched teams. Two incredibly good goals from Marchiso (35.min) and Sturridge after a pass from Rooney a couple of minutes later.
  7. Unlucky England lost to the Kiwis in Dunedin by one point (27 to 28), despite scoring the last 14 points. Commiserations and better luck tomorrow morning in the world cup against Italy.
  8. I hope England can beat the Kiwis, which is a hard task.

My body clock will soon be out of kilter. It will only get worse when we fly to Australia early next month. At least I can watch the remaining games of the world cup there in a more relaxed and a more familiar environment.

11 PM tonight Columbia versus Greece. I hope Greece wins that game. 2 AM Uruguay versus Costa Rica. I hope Costa Rica gets up. 5 AM England versus Italy. I wish England well. 8AM Japan versus Ivory Coast. I think Japan will be too strong, but the African team cannot be written off either. I might have an early night tonight and set the alarm clock to watch England play. They can beat Italy, another dirty team like Uruguay, always trying to win by any foul means.

I thought the replay showed the first goal was offside by about half a metre. Anyway, Mexico won 1:0 in an entertaining game played under atrocious conditions. It never stopped pissing down rain for the entire game. You wouldn't want to miss tomorrows game between Spain and Holland, played at 2 AM Thai time. I will be barracking for the Dutch, as I am getting sick of Spanish teams winning all of the time. Cheers

The Mexico versus Cameroon match will start at 11 PM tonight Thailand time. Both sides have good teams and I am hoping for a good game, without a one-eyed referee influencing the outcome of the game, favoring one side over the other.

A typical smart-arse reply from a Canuck. FYI, Croatia is a small European country with a population of less than 5 million people. Did you watch the match?

I totally agree. A less than impressive Brazil with 12 men (including the Japanese referee) beat a brave Croatian team. It was disgusting to watch so many Brazilians (especially Marcello) taking a dive to get a free kick after the slightest body contact with Croatian players.
  15. The Brazil vs Croatia game will be shown at 3 AM local (Thai) time. If you want to watch the opening ceremony and the preliminaries, better make it 2.00 AM. The time difference between Rio and Pattaya is 10 hours.
  16. I agree, as long as you don't tell the girls at World Wide AGoGo to post pics to advertise.
  17. Why do you want a photo? if you are interested go and ring the member's mobile to have a look at his car. Asking a member to post a picture of his latest bar fine would be more appropriate.
  18. The last 50 kilometres of the 15. stage are now on live on Eurovision. There will be a difficult and long climb at the end of it. Rigoberto Uran seemed like a spent force on the last climb of yesterday's stage and Cadel Evans gained seven on him 7 seconds, now 32 seconds behind in second place in the overall classification.
  19. Bad news for the German team. Captain Lahm, goalie Neuer, Schweinsteiger could all miss out on the World Cup. Lahm and Neuer (shoulder) suffered injuries in the German Cup final against Dortmund. Lars Bender has already been confirmed to be left out from the team, as he won't recover in time. Real Madrid pulled off a miracle, when they equalized in the 89. minute and then won the Champions Trophy against Atletico Madrid in extra time, scoring another 3 goals. Gareth Bale was again in top form.
  20. The 14.stage of the Giro is live on Eurovision now with a big climb coming up shortly.
  21. Eurovision and most other non-Thai TV station are back again on Jomtien BTV. I watched the finish of yesterday's stage. Cadel is still 37 seconds behind the little Columbian in the overall standings. I think there is only one more mostly flat stage before the serious mountain stages begin, which will decide who wins the Giro. Both Cadel and Uran are strong climbers and I will be surprised if any other rider will win the Giro. We are staying home today and I am now packing my suitcase for the 3 months trip back home to Darwin. The TGF is a bit anxious as she does not know if her Australia
  22. Brian Ferry and his band were very popular in Oz for a very long time and are still one one of my all time favourites.
  23. Let's keep things in perspective. Most of the top guns in road racing are not taking part in the Giro to save themselves for the more prestigious Tour de France. Having said that, the Giro is still the second ranked cycling race in the world. I am far from happy with the TV blackout in Thailand preventing me from watching Eurovision. I don't have a clue what happened in the time trial today and can only hope Cadel did well and kept the overall lead. Cadel has always been strong a strong climber and might win this Giro, if he gets enough support from his BMC team mates. http://www.st
  24. They are exceptional athletes and train most of the year when they are not racing. I cannot think of a sport which is more physically demanding. Cadel Evans is still wearing the Maglia Rosa after stage 11. BMC have a great team to support him. Stage 12 is at the moment shown live on Eurovision. http://www.gazzetta.it/Giroditalia/2014/en/
