  1. There's a chance I may be making a short side trip as well during this next visit and if I do, then Koh Chang will be where I'm going.
  2. Strummer, you will need to visit the Blues Factory. It's just off walking street across from the Marine Bar complex. Can be hard to find if you don't know where it is.
  3. Had the lasik done down here in Florida about 15 months ago. Best decision I ever made. Not cheap but hard to put a price on happiness.
  4. Went to the one on Theraprassit road I think and raced in the carts that go about 70 mph. It cost about 500 baht for about 15 mins if I remember correctly. A word of caution- don't expect these carts to be maintained as well as carts in the west. They will supply you with a helmet but thats about it. There are no seatbelts in the ones I was using. Before you race you must sign a wavier in case you die.
  5. Try joining the members forum where you can really be disgusted!
  6. Don't know anything about EMS but I have seen a UPS office/outlet on 2nd road somewhere close to Big C and I also saw a Fedex truck driving around the Pattaya streets but I have no idea where their office may be. Sorry I'm not better informed but I'm sure someone will be.
  7. I live about as far from Thailand as you can get in any one direction and I have checked in to the possibility of other airlines such as EVA. The problem is that trying to make these kind of connections usually results in longer layovers. The way I go now, I don't have any layovers longer than 90 minutes and for me it's all about getting there as quickly as I can.
  8. From Fort Myers, FL, the price for flight through Dec. 23rd is still quoted as $833 before tax and fees. Thats through Travelocity. For me, the fares are always cheaper on Travelocity, Orbitz, etc. than on the airlines website. But I'm sure that these cheaper fares are for a limited number of seats, but I've never had a problem booking them right on the net.
  9. I saw that coming before I wrote it.
  10. Can you find Cubans in Pattaya and if so, at what price?
  11. Randolpho, I'm not sure about the baby oil, but I may have left a half jar of vaseline. Bazzap, the bed was rock hard as was I most nights.
  12. Bazzap, I think that was the room I stayed in...........103?
  13. Yeah rb, it's definitly NOT chlorine thats in there.
  14. Flew KAL on my return to US in April. BKK to Inchon then to Atlanta. Found it to be very comfortable and I thought the food was good for airline chow. That Inchon airport is nice as well. I try to do all my flights to earn Delta skymiles and KAL is a Delta partner.
  15. Thanks for the update LeoTex. I've got reservations there for October so it looks like I will keep them.
  16. Ok Leotex, how is it at the Dynasty?
  17. I used Northwest last year and althought the flight was fine, I really don't like the scheduling that gets you to BKK at 2345 and of course you don't get to Pattaya until 2am. So this year I checked out Delta and their partners. I live in SW Florida and found a schedule going through Atlanta and Narita that gets me to BKK at 2015 and down to Pattaya by 11pm. I love it because I feel like I saved a night of the trip. And the total trip time is less because of shorter connection waiting time. The cost is actually cheaper than NW and thay partner with Japan Air Lines to get you to BKK and
  18. Yeah, that's the thing about these special deals, it's not always easy to find a flight when you want it since seats are limited and it seems that weekdays are easier to book than weekends......... Wolfe, if you'd like to transfer any of your miles to another worldperks member, feel free to contact me Skytrooper, you're most welcome.
  19. BJ's is still there. I stayed there in 2003 but I wanted to move further south on my last trip. He is building a new place as stated above but I thought it was going to be done late this year but I may be wrong. It will be large with all the amenities. I agree that his rooms are great for 400 baht and his food is good as well. He also still has some condo's for rent unless they have already sold them.
  20. You are correct Hub. Free first class ticket is 120,000 miles.
  21. Thats too bad wolfe. With 115,000 miles you can get a free trip in coach and your real close to a free business class R/T. I believe that you can transfer the miles to other airlines as well or were you just saying that the time for using those miles has expired. Too bad either way.
  22. Northwest dealsThis may be old news to most, but Northwest has their cash and miles special fares going for flights thru mid-October. Got to be a worldperks member with at least 5000 miles to use it.
  23. "Everybody Plays the Fool" for the newbies...... and for the vets......"I Can See Clearly Now"
  24. If you're thinking Delta can't get you to BKK, that's incorrect. They have partner flights with JAL, KAL, United and even Northwest I believe. I fly Delta all the way to Tokyo and then JAL to BKK. Coming home I'll be taking United back to Tokyo and then Delta home. I think most airlines will accept almost any other airlines miles these days.
  25. If you can get to Detroit by either car or air, it's a major hub for Northwest airlines. From there you can get direct flights to Tokyo and then to Bangkok. Their prices are usually comparable with other US airlines depending on the days you fly.
