  1. Currently staying at the Rovers, and it is an excellent choice. Pat and Dom are outstanding hosts, and their staff is great. Went on one of their trips to the Dark Side yesterday, and it was a lot of fun. As far as the menu goes, I can say the food is very good. So far I can recommend the breakfast and their pies. With a lot of emphasis on value around Patts these days, this place is a good deal.
  2. The tortilla soup deserves a special mention on here as it is outstanding. It is currently on the 99 THB menu as well. Highly recommended.
  3. Thnx for sharing those Adam, see u next month.
  4. Well good luck man. I will be sure to come by and support your efforts on my next trip.
  5. It was nice to meet u Bruce, thanks for the "shout out" to the vets, and the drinks. I had a great time, and I'm pretty sure Nuts did as well.
  6. After having some of the food Bob put out for the crawl last night, I decided that I would go over today and have some smoked ribs. Glad I did, they were great! I would love to eat those with a spicy carolina type sauce (hint hint), but Bobs regular is good too.
  7. Of my normally biannual visits to Patts, I stay at the QV every other visit. The reason for this is that I get this notion in my head that there is something better for the value and try something different. I always end up coming back to the QV. Vic is a great host, and constantly seeks your thoughts or opinions on your stay (he once asked me to sample a few of his new chili dogs, to see if they would meet american standards). The only, and I mean ONLY thing that I dont like about staying at the QV, is the ladyboy gauntlet on Soi 6/1. But this has nothing to do with the establishment its
  8. I will pop in as well. Best of luck.
  9. Its been a while since I've posted. I can recommend the Globetrotter. Lars is a great host, the staff are excellent, and the top rooms are the ones with the balcony. The negatives are that you have to pay extra for the electricity (still cheap though), no internet connection and/or wifi, and the aircon is crap. My last trip was ruined by gallstone attacks, so I spent a lot of time in my room. Not bad overall. I paid the posted rates. Hope that helps.
  10. I'm a big fan of your manager Wan. But you already knew that.
  11. I have spent some time in Shane's company while briefly dating one of his staff, and my impression was that he is a genuinely nice guy. There are always two sides to a story, and I don't know the details. I can tell you he and the other managers run a great bar, and found them all to be excellent hosts.
  12. Hi Mojoke. I am currently staying in one of the deluxe rooms, and have no complaints. This is my second stay here and I pretty much agree with all of doolish's points. I have stayed at many hotels in Pattaya (Lido, Ma Maison, Hard Rock, Royal Garden to name a few), and you would be hard pressed to find as good a place for the money. The fire escape entrance is actually a convenience, and is always monitored by security/taxi staff. Soi 6 does get noisy, usually from 1pm to 1 am, then winds down by 2 am. The deluxe rooms are on the 4th floor (American), and the stairs are a little steep. Vic the
  13. Queen Vic has wifi, and is a great place to stay. Queen Vic
  14. I find sitting in the balcony at the Queen Vic overlooking Soi 6 very entertaining.
  15. i'll be there next month SB. I need to use the wifi for school. I'll let you know how it is. -Squid Sorry, you too Jim.
  16. Agreed. Hollywood churns out crap for profit, and all of the big stars are disconnected from reality. Funny stuff though, whoever wrote it.
  17. Hey RB. Ive never had a problem arriving late at the Lido or Queen Vic. And I have never given CC numbers or a deposit. Also, if you run your dates on Orbitz, you might get an earlier flight from Tokyo or Inchon on Thai airways. Even if your flying Delta or one of the other big ones, they will still do the luggage transfer and everything. Thai Air flies in at 2130 vice 2345.
  18. No problemo. I should mention that Tips is right next door, and has a great Bfast/Lunch for cheap. Tips True. No pool.
  19. Anyone know if Gary is still the boss at the Alamo bar?
  20. I stayed at the Lido for two weeks last month. I had a superior double, room 317. Pretty good size room. IMO, you cant beat the location. My only gripe about the room was the hot water would come and go, but not a big problem as it was hot as hell outside. Tip the cleaning girls right away and they will go out of their way to clean your room as soon as you leave. That was my 14th trip to LOS, and I have never sent a deposit, and I never will. Also, my buddy was there too, and he had one of the suites. Not worth the extra money, the superior is large enough. They will book your excusions for yo
  21. Bringing this back up to see if it is still open. I know how quickly things change in Pattaya. Anyone doing a check for me will be rewarded in FLB next week. Thanks.
