  1. There are several Nike shops in Pattaya.Royal garden shopping mall,Big c shopping mall,All shops sell original goods. If you're staying at Areca lodge on soi Diana, just take a left when you leave the premises and walk down to 2nd road(2 min walk)take a left at Kiss food and walk towards south Pattaya. On the left almost opposite Royal garden shopping mall is an official Nike store, there's also one down walking street, south Pattaya.
  2. It all depends what you want, pool, restauraunt, location etc.As you are going in september it's still off season so many hotels have 'deals' on.Flipper house on soi7(5 mins from the beach) have a stay 14 nights pay for 10 deal, which works out at less than 600 baht a night for an IMHO good hotel in a good location with a nice rooftop swimming pool.I've stayed there many times(off season) and got a good deal. It's sister hotel Flipper lodge also does similar deals.Lower down the scale Bliss mansion on soi Diana is B450 per night(no pool or restaurant).Good clean rooms though and a good location(nea
  3. Another good one is www.cheapflights.co.uk
  4. I stand corrected! They do have a side entrance though inbetween soi 7 and 8!!!!!
  5. I Have also used the nationwide flex account card for a number of years now.The reason it doesn't have a loading fee is because it's a Building society and not a bank. It's owned by it's members,me and you. It's also very handy in an airport when you need the minimum amount of cash(no withdrawal fee).So when you get the voting forms through don't forget to vote for it to stay a building society and not to convert to a bank. This message goes out to carpetbaggers who take a short term view on pocketing a few thousand pound that they'd gain if it is converted to a bank.Vote No and we can enjoy more
  6. Lek hotel,Diana inn and Apex buffet style breakfasts are good value for the money only if you like (what the Thais call)American breakfast,Hot dogs(minature) style sausage and frazzled bacon,Scrambled egg,Cereals,25% juice,Good to take TG's there because they have Thai food also in the buffet. No English style bangers though!Best english style places are The Rising Sun and The Ritz both on soi Yamato. The Ritz do awesome Bacon and sausage sandwiches(on real fresh bread).Good full English breakfast there also. The Rising sun has been a fave of mine for years.Although it's ghanged owners over the y
  7. Talking of Kebabs. The stall in between wonderful bar and wonderful 2 bar.Word of warning i've spewed up twice(the next morning) after their chicken kebab. The first time i thought maybe it was the Heineken/Chang/Vodka/Kebab combination! But the second time I indulged i was for me soberish!!!!Hence i won't be going back a third time.I must say i used to enjoy the ones on soi 8 though.Good middle eastern style Kebabs and falafels are to be found down south Pattaya at the quarter where a lot of the Arabs hang out, don't know the name of the street but it's at the back of walking street near the Hubb
  8. Is this the same Kebab stall that used to be outside Hollywood on soi 8 a few years ago now.
  9. Can anyone enlighten me about the proposed Registration process of Mobile phones in Thailand.I hear through various grapevines that due to the troubles in the south(due to bombs being detonated by mobile phones) that the Goverment are going to get everyone to Register their Sim cards.A few questions about this.1.Will this apply to both foreign and Thai Sim cards?2.If so where do you have to register and what documentation do you need?3.How long has someone got to register their Sim(my Sim is 6 months old and i'm only in Siam every 3 or 4 months).4.I'm arriving next week will my sim work as soo
  10. What the US military armed with their 7 eleven bottles of water going into bars and not buying a drink!!!!Long gone are the days of the 'dream' of the US military arriving on R&R or Excercise. From the nineties and on into the new millenium the Thai Phu-ying's have learn't that the US servicemen have short arms and even deeper pockets!I'm not generalising of course but just ask them Teelak's down Pattayaland 1&2.
  11. Can't really add too much more than what Kev says.I e-mailed them a few weeks back and was quoted B600 per night.I stayed there last November and it was B500 per night. MINUSES. Swimming pool is small, beware of your mini bar bill.Settle up as often as you can.PLUSES.You can pay by c/c with no added charges. No joiner fees.Good location. DRUID
  12. Your'e not the one who plays guitar in the Wonderful bar are you?The one whose mate does dodgy renditions of T-Rex and Beatles numbers!!!
  13. Bay breeze doesn't have a web-site.It's e-mail address is baybreeze30@hotmail.com.They've always replied swiftly when i've contacted them. DRUID.
  14. Yeh,you can get to it down Soi Skaew beach or from the Soi Bukaow end through 'The Cowsheds'(large white elephant of a bar area, real name 'pooks').Didn't know that the ok corral had rooms.I was in there for a swift half last year and the bar has halved in size due to a misunderstanding over two different people owning the land that it is leased on,therefore they had to knock half of it down. There was construction going on on some land next to it when i was there in June, they were flattening off land ready to do more building work! The owner is from Hull. It's a quiet bar with half a dozen girls,

  20. Just seen FINN AIR,MANCHESTER-HELSINKI-BANGKOK for £416.99 incl Tax! :)(Mid Nov departure). This was on Expedia.com.I booked a flight with them for end of Jan 04 on Turkish for £405!They don't charge Credit card fees but insist on full payment upon booking. The tickets are issued straight away and sent to you promptly.Expedia are hit and miss, sometimes you can get lucky and get a really cheap flight other times their prices can be extortionate but keep trying and be lucky. The Druid.(35days counting down!). :)

  22. :)Can anyone suggest a hotel in the price range of B400-600 for the end of November begining of December.I normally stay in South/Central Pattaya. If anyone has any info on BLISS MANSION(soi Diana) and J&PCourt also somewhere near soi Diana/soi Bukaow i'd appreciate some feedback on Price, guest policy etc. THE DRUID. :)
  23. I Totally agree with Valentinoxxx, the Nationwide cashcard(flex-account)is by far the best card to use in L.O.S.I use it every trip.Just look for the signs CIRRUS and away you go(no fees and a good exchange rate too).I also take a wee smattering of Amex sterling T/C's and a bit of cash.If you join the natwest advantage gold account(£8 per month)you can get Amex sterling T/c's no commision.Join on a three month trial period and cancel after 89 days and you get the 3 X£8 monthly fee back.I've done this on 3 seperate occasions. There is also travel insurance included in the advantage gold package.
  24. Booked Manchester/Bangkok with Dial-a-flight for November returning December £428 incl tax. Also got a cheaper quote online from Expedia.com for February on Turkish airlines for £409 incl tax from Manchester!!Good timings.Depart Man 12.45(3hrs stoppover in Istanbul) Arrive Bkk 1300hrs next day .Flight back only has a 1 hr stop in Istanbul.Leaves Bkk 1am back in Manchester 11.am. 25. I got a reply from Flipper house soi 7 the day after i E-mailed them on flipperptty@hotmail.com.The price for an 18 night stay is 7700. For 14 nights(that's pay for 10 get 4 nights free.)Then it's 600B per night for the next 4 nights. This is in the old wing.New wing is 8800baht and 700B per night thereafter. My questions are.For the price difference Is the new wing a lot better than the old? What are the differences in respectable wings? AlsoCan anyone tell me if Flipper lodge on soi8 have the same 'free nights 'deals,if so i'd be grateful if someone can post the rates on the forum.THE DRUID [sm
