This was in a UK Sunday Newspaper(News of the World) Yesterday. http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/news/58662...in-Bangkok.html Lessons in shame Two teachers at top school are suspended after kids see live Bangkok sex show By Matthew Acton, 08/11/2009 A SCHOOL has suspended two teachers after claims that teenage pupils on a cultural trip to the Far East ended up watching a live sex show in Bangkok. Horrified parents only found out about the visit to the Thai capital's notorious Patpong red-light district after one girl posted pics from the trip on her Facebook web page. One snap showed a group of the grammar school youngsters, aged 16 to 18, and the two teachers sitting around a table littered with beer bottles outside a Bangkok bar. A member of the party is about to puff from a hookah pipe. The contraptions usually contain mint flavoured tobacco, drawn through water for a more mellow taste. Grotty Later in the evening some of the pupils moved on to the city's sleazy red light area, whose streets are lined with bars offering sex shows. Last night a staff member at Bingley Grammar, in West Yorks - founded in 1529 and one of Brtain's oldest schools - revealed: "It is the talk of the school. "The teachers, a man and a woman, are fighting for their careers over this because the youngsters were supposed to be in their care. "They are claiming that the kids did not drink or smoke although that's not what the pupils are saying. But the worst part is that some of them went to the live sex show. "The kids said it was disgusting, with couples there on stage having sex in a grotty bar. The teachers are claiming it was a mistake and as soon as the action started they left. But that is at odds with what the kids are saying. "I mean, the Patpong area is not the kind of place where you go by mistake. It's completely in your face and wall-to-wall sex." A dozen youngsters from the school - whose motto is Passing on the Torches of Learning - have spent a month in Thailand and neighbouring Laos over the summer. As well as sampling the Far East's culture, they trekked through jungles to remote communities, helping disadvantaged schools with jobs like fixing broken furniture, painting and providing sporting equipment for the students. But our source added: "I think it will be a while before anyone from the school is visiting Thailand again. "The allegations have left a very sour taste in the mouth. Some of the parents are absolutely incensed. "It takes a lot of trust for a parent to pack their child off to the Far East for a month and they don't expect them to be smoking, drinking and witnessing degrading XXX-rated spectacles in bars." Head teacher Chris Taylor confirmed that the school, with the help of Bradford Council, has launched an inquiry. He said: "A potential concern has been raised about activities during the trip. We are treating this with extreme seriousness. "We will take appropriate action at the investigation's conclusion. It is inappropriate to comment further."

That's why they're Rich!..The Banks in the UK and probably worldwide too have been doing this for years, holding peoples cash that is paid in to your account from another party for a limited time before you can access it and making Colossal amounts of money/interest in the meantime. -
Yeah maybe he will extend his menu once he's been open a bit longer(by saying that i'm assuming that he hasn't been open too long).
-
Why? have you seen the menu Dave?Apparently(according to the pattaya news link anyway) the owner is a Greek National so i'm assuming he'll have other Greek Dishes on the menu.I'm sure someone who has been there can let us know if the menu does...Whereabouts is this Turkish Restaurant? would like to check that out too.

I love souvlaki and Greek Salad(Feta cheese),so will check it out on my next trip. Here's an article i found on Pattaya Daily news.com about the place http://www.pattayadailynews.com/showfeatur...reID=0000001382

Yes for landmarks it's almost on the opposite side of the Soi Yodsak turning(Soi 6) on 2nd Road.Dr Belen is a Filipina Doctor who has had a practice in Los for many years, speaks excellent English and in my experience doesn't con patients into paying over the odds for expensive meds/treatment,the one time i went there she gave me free advice and never charged me a satang.

It happened to me a couple of years ago.I flew from Manchester to BKK via Dubai on Emirates and everyone(around 40 of us) who started on the Manchester leg our baggage didn't arrive at Suvarnabhuni airport Bkk.We arrived at around 1 pm and had to fill forms out at the baggage desk.We were told the baggage wasn't lost but the container with everyone's bags from Manchester wasn't loaded on to the plane from Dubai to Bkk.I was well pissed off,the baggage desk at the airport told us that the bags may arrive on the later Dubai to BKK flight that evening. After an hour of faffing about filling out the form i made my way to Pattaya with just my hand luggage and no change of clothes!!We were given a hotline number in Bkk that were supposedly tracking our luggage. When i got to Pattaya i had to go out and buy a change of clothes and toiletries(found out later that i could've claimed money for these before leaving the airport for Funtown).Anyway to cut a long story short my Bag arrived the next afternoon via a courier/Taxi to my hotel in Pattaya courtesy of Emirates.I was told i could claim from Emirates at their information desk before my departure flight back home.I went to the desk at the airport before check-in and i was given the equivalent of $50 in Baht for the inconvenience of my baggage arriving a day late.

Thanks for the heads up,i've still got 2 weeks to decide before payment to sawasdee.com.It does put me off paying for the room 'up front'(before i see it) So have been looking at Sandy Spring as an option. What's the pool like there? -

areca lodge construction update
THE_DRUID replied to ian's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I'm booked into Areca in November, i have booked it through Sawasdee.com for 1050 per night(standard) that's 250 Baht a night cheaper than booking direct with the hotel.I requested a double bed,but they say they only have rooms with twin beds. Can anyone tell me how big the twin beds are?It puts me off a bit not having a double bed,but they'll see if one is available nearer my arrival time. They told me i'm in the Areca wing,is that the front part? Has anyone got any update on the construction/noise situation? When you book with sawasdee.com you initially pay the 1st night deposit then the balance is due 2 weeks before you arrive(online by C/C).This is another thing i don't normally do just in case there are any issues(like i mentioned) and you want to change hotels. -
I've stayed in Bliss Mansions many times and once in Arcadia Mansions.Good value for the price,Bliss getting a bit old/worn these days, but Arcadia is newish(2 yrs i think). They never had internet/wifi when i was there.Safety box in reception/no pool(but you can use the Carlton pool if u want to)/no restaurant.IMO They're a good VFM no bullshit sort of establishment.

Will be boarding in November! If not only for the Uniforms!

Well yesterday i booked a flight on Emirates(Manchester-BKK) with redeemed airmiles and it was 68,000 miles plus £65 taxes.I think you'll find the 130,000 miles is for Economy peak(whatever that is?).I found it very difficult getting on the dates i wanted on economy,a lot of the flights coming up on the website were Economy Peak, business or first class. With some of my airmiles about to expire i ended up booking a date well in advance(May 09),but at least i've got the flight sorted out for that trip although i'll be doing 2 trips before that one!!!
