Good Thai restaurant please?
The_Fat_Controller replied to pattaya_mad's topic in Restaurants and food
Give her a treat and something different, try one of the Japanese restaurants at Big C or Royal Garden Plaza. They are good value, but rather expensive for the average Thai worker. -
The executive rooms are in the Areca wing and overlook the pool, so no problem with noise from the construction. The room is bigger than normal pool view, bigger TV with a DVD player and seating area. I think you get bathrobes, daily fruit and newspaper.

A small French restaurant at the bottom end of Soi Yamato, left hand side coming from Beach Road. They do a 3 course set menu for 260 Baht. Some dishes have a 20-30 Baht extra charge. I had prawns and mussels in a pastry case (+20 Bt), loin of pork with leeks and a blue cheese sauce followed by a home-made brownie with ice cream. It was excellent. Most customers were French and totally bemused to find no alcohol sold on the election weekend LOL. Thanks to Ian from the Palmers quiz team for telling me about this place.

For some reason, the words "cheap" and "Indian food" do not seem to go together in Pattaya. Some of my most expensive dinners have been Indian food albeit in larger restaurants. I have no idea if there is much of an Indian community in Pattaya but would also welcome any recommendations as to where get a decent meal.

It's on the "sea" side of walking street, quite a way down near the Windy Inn. I had a very nice French meal there recently. Pricing was reasonable, food beautifully presented and cooked fresh. Worth a visit.

NPK link corrected in my previous post. Repeated here, http://www.npktour.com/flights.htm

If you are from the UK it is a no-brainer. Get yourself a Nationwide FlexAccount. No fees and a consistently good rate which can be found here http://corporate.visa.com/pd/consumer_serv...HB&rate=0.0 If you are worried about using ATMs, use one inside a bank during the day and just take enough cash out in the evening. Personally, I have not had any problems with any ATMs in Thailand.

I think, at the end of the day, the concession that allows a foreigner to own up to 49% of the area of a condominium should not be confused with the law regarding an actual plot of land. Owning a share of the land by default through the juristic structure does not mean I am flouting any law and it would appear that this is the only way a foreigner can have any interest in land in Thailand. I have many friends in Bangkok and Pattaya that OWN condos and we all have one thing in common. NOT ONE OF US HAS ANY FORM OF LEASE. They belong to us and are ours to sell as allowed by law a

Gentlemen, do not start a slanging match please. However please take the time to READ my posts and links. To answer the original question, I DO NOT have any form of lease on my condo. I own it. According to the link from Siam Legal, I also own a share of the land and common property.

After a lot of searching, I have found the answer. 6. What is a “condominium” under Thai Law? Answer: The Condominium Act (The Commonly-Owned Housing Act of 2522) defines a “condominium” as a building featuring privately-owned property and common property. The owners of condominium unit own the land through a juristic person of condominium. From here http://www.siam-legal.com/ps_faq.html QED. I DO own a share of the land on which my condo stands, albeit through the juristic person.

Geewizz, It's here http://www.thebangkokcondo.com/eng/nara.html All sold now, sorry. I bought a 2 bedroom 75 sq.m on top floor two years ago for 4.94 million Baht. PS. Have checked my documents, I DO NOT HAVE A LEASE OF ANY SORTS. I OWN the condo.

http://www.acuterealty.com/faq.asp#1 http://www.sgalegal.com/guide/condominium.html http://www.raimonland.com/english/SalesProcess.aspx I think that covers it all, if you take your time to read through the links. I will say no more.

http://www.holt-realty.com/real-estate-thailand-canubuy.php Foreigners may own a condominium 100% freehold in their own name, as long as the total foreign ownership in the building does not exceed 49%.
-
I have a condo in Bangkok. Munchin, I own it. There is no lease. It is mine as long as the building is standing. Collectively all the individual owners own the building so therefore we all own a share of the freehold, including me. This is allowed as long as no greater than 49% of the floor area of the building is under foreign ownership. It was bought from Land and Houses, one of the largest property companies in Thailand. The property is managed now by Plus Property Services who are responsible for collecting the annual maintenance fees which pays for the upkeep o
-
You do not BUY condos LEASEHOLD in Thailand. Simple as that.
-
If you use a lawyer he/she will be obliged to contact the juristic person of the condo block to determine if the sale will come under the 49% rule. Therefore if you follow the law, you will own it freehold !!!!!! Doh !!!!!!!
-
If you buy a condo it will be freehold and yours for life. If buying new , you and all new owners will pay into a "sinking fund" as set by the seller, this will be the base money for the maintenance fund. I pay 35 Bt per sq.m per month maintenance for my Bangkok condo.

London - Bangkok £395 with China Airlines
The_Fat_Controller replied to BritMonkey's topic in Airline Discussion
According to the China Airlines website, they do not fly on this route ! I have tried searching on the Travelocity site, and NOTHING comes up with China Airlines even though it is on the "offers" page. Looks a bit odd to me! -
My "home" bar when I visit Pattaya is PALMERS on Soi Pattayaland 2. They also serve Black Pudding and they get it from an English butcher that has set up in the Pattaya area. They also have traditional pork sausages and decent bacon/gammon. The suppliers' name is on a notice by the darts board but I cannot remember it LOL !!!!!
-
I have used this company 3 times for Emirates tickets, they are very friendly and efficient. Got the tickets the same day as I paid for them. http://www.npktour.com/Contact_us.htm Prices do not vary much at different agents.
-
Quite right, the less serious darts league is played on a Friday evening. I play for Palmers bar, which is opposite Cheers on Pattayaland Soi 2. There is also a more serious midweek league, not sure of which bars are involved in that though, but more information may be available in the Pattaya Mail.

D/R/I 100% x TPM The tickets I have been buying are "I" class, therefore I get the actual mileage between points.
-
I have flown in June and October 2006, and in February this year. All tickets were their Discounted Business Class, purchased in the UK via a travel agent. The mileage credited on each occasion was, as I said in my previous post, the same as if I had flown Economy. They have just renewed my Gold Card, the required mileage was 55,000 in 2 years. I made 5 return trips, earning 57,030 miles, which is 10 times the normal economy mileage between AMS and BKK. I know you do not get the full Business mileage, but am CERTAIN I have received the Economy mileage.
-
I got the usual mileage, that is the same as if on an economy ticket, flying discounted Business Class with a ticket from Gazelle last month. I doubt very much ANY airline would give you less than the economy milage for buying ANY type of business ticket. Where did that info come from ?
