  1. So you don't begrudge the guys making maybe 100 baht more than your sketchy recollection thinks they used to? I'm sure bar owners all across Pattaya will breathe a collective sigh of relief at that.
  2. Did you still get your two free drinks, as best you can remember?
  3. Yeah, being told on Tues about a move on the following Saturday is pretty bad.
  4. Our server hosting company is relocating all the equipment from one state in the USA to another, commencing on Nov 5, 2011 early morning CST (afternoon in Thailand the same day). They will actually be moving our server, along with other equipment, several hundred miles by truck, reconnecting everything and bringing the system online eventually. They say the disruption will be a minimum of 24 hours, so it's hard to predict when they will come back. This doesn't help the forum at all, and if I'd had more than a couple of days notice, I'd probably have changed server companies. I mean, what reputable server hosting outfit can cut its clients off for 24 hours or more?
  5. I shared the Deluxe Special for Two last night with my gf, and wasn't hungry for nearly 20 hours after attempting to finish it. 3 full sets of food, chicken satay, spring rolls, mushu duck, sizzling beef and rice, and a bunch of stuff I didn't recognize, but it was all tasty. I also ordered some Szechuan Hot and Sour Soup that had loads of shrimp in it, and my gf ate most of it, when I asked her if she wanted to try it. Two thumbs up.
  6. If a gogo dancer won't go with you for 1000b ST, she doesn't really want to go with you.
  7. Thanks for explaining that, Bobby! I'll be there.
  8. Well, in that case, I'll go check if I have a copy of the green book. But I am certainly not keeping the book itself in the bike.
  9. My understanding is that you are supposed to keep the green book in a safe place separate from the bike, since it represents the ownership papers. Your current annual registration should be enough for them. But, from the looks of it, it was an obvious scam in the first place. Tough luck, but gladly, I think that sort of thing is not too common.
  10. Anyone been in this place? Security seems to be taking liberties.
  11. That's good. Bobby told me it was the Friday the 4th, and we have a party at FLB that night for the Rideher Cup golfers. There's no conflict on the 5th.
  12. You're sure about that, are you? Where's that 200b plus two beers offer to be found? Got a link?
  13. In my time here I've never encountered a Pattaya cop who hadn't already started writing a ticket. Once they start filling in the blanks, you're in the system. Have you really gotten away with a bribe? I know I haven't, and wouldn't do it for a cheap ticket anyway. I don't like to encourage corruption.
  14. I'll bet it's the same fat cop who barely fits in his suit and gleefully pulls over everyone coming down the soi. The problem is that the Soi, as I recall, is the one that goes to the Sabai Dee parking lot, and it shows the parking lot as a left turn off 2nd road, even though it is one way the other way. If you continue past that point to Beach Road, this character is waiting for you.
  15. My experience is that in 7 years of riding a motorbike daily, I have been stopped 3 times. Once for no helmet on a passenger, once for making a right turn at Soi Buakhao and Pattaya Tai on market day, and once for driving the wrong way down soi 3. Until I had a thai driver's license, the cop took my bike keys, and sent me to get the ticket taken care of. When I returned with the paid ticket, he gave me my keys back. The other two times, they took my license and sent me to Soi 9 to get it taken care of. The license was sent to Soi 9 as well. My bike was impounded once for being parked in a no parking zone after a long night where I didn't go move it. That involved a trip to the police station to locate it, then a long ride out to the impound lot to get it. If you drive legally, and follow the rules, you are unlikely to be stopped. They also stop Thais as much, or more, than farangs. Anything you hear to the contrary is a myth. In fact, when they stop Thais, they frequently piss test them and check their storage area for guns and drugs. That seldom, if ever, happens to farangs. Don't worry...be happy.
  16. Well, that just goes to show that many people were having such a good time in the Xzone before the upheaval, that they didn't even notice the price of the drinks. I know that is why I didn't chime in on prices, because I honestly never once looked at my bin, except to check the total and (perhaps) the number of drinks purchased. Still, with a newly restarted Xzone, having lost a lot of their staff and trying to recover from such a hit, the previously high prices will be, and have been, noticed.

  19. We don't have cards or anything for this forum (pattayatalk).
  20. I'm still waiting for you to explain the"yank"origin of this topic.
  21. What proof have you got that the OP was a "yank"? If you want to carry the banner for the Arab/Muslims who are not here on the board to defend themselves, don't be a complete twat and misrepresent who your antagonists are.
  22. When you consider the bar's cost for a Corona is about 110 baht (last I checked), 180 is a smaller markup than on a bottle of Chang, given the prices listed above.
  23. FLB staff made a scavenging run for beer and water...should be set for quite a while now.

I'm not going to sit back and run out of stock because our distributor is not able to fill our orders, so if that makes me a hoarder, then I'll gladly accept the title.
