  1. jacko thinks you should have known instinctively because it's happened before.
  2. Yeah, sure you did. And that's why you used the word "responsive" below. I think I'm lmfao too.
  3. I'm reporting on what has been happening. Sort of like we all know it rains, but for some reason there are weather reports that tell you it's raining or about to rain again. Do you have anything to add other than "it's happened in the past"? For example, can you tell us when the enforcement will stop "this time"? Can you tell us any other areas that were closed early? Or are you just upset that you were sitting in your room last night and you got scooped? And, for the rest of you, reliable word is it's going to be an early night tonight as well.
  4. That's exactly why I said "again" in the thread title. The bars wouldn't stay open late if there weren't customers who liked to go out late, so it might be a problem for the customers who use them as well. I've noticed a trend for many people to go out later and later. If this clampdown were to continue, that trend would be reversed.
  5. For the last few nights, the police have been closing bars, discos and gogos on WS during the 2am-3am time period. Tonight we had a party at FLB, and it was arranged that the dance contest would finish earlier than 2am -- it did, at 1:15am. The band played till 2am and then about 10 minutes later, the police came by and said it was time to close. I left FLB about 2:30am, and saw that every indoor business (IBar, Insomnia, Gogos) were closed, but the open beer bars were still serving customers (as usual), but it was quiet with no music. Massive numbers of gogos dancers and staff were hitting the road about that time, and with no disco to go to, it was looking like JP Bar was going to fill up really fast. Amazingly, even Marine 2 was closed, and they are usually exempt from the main WS closures. I haven't heard that this affects any other areas besides WS, and was told that the closures were an attempt to rein in the late night openings at 8 businesses, Mixx, Lucifers, Torus, Insomnia, Ibar, Candyshop, Marine 1 and apparently Marine 2. Another slant on this I heard was that, since Bangkok businesses are closing at 2am, the law should apply equally to Pattaya. Whatever the reason, it was a strange night tonight.
  6. Seems fine to me. Maybe you're being affected by time distortion.
  7. On the subject of management of LD1, they have a Thai manager, but LD1 is owned and operated by farangs. They also have a farang manager. Most gogos and bars of any size that are owned by farangs have someone who acts as the Thai "manager". That's almost a given. But to describe LD1 as "thai management", as spider asks, would be somewhat inaccurate.
  8. Does this dinner require an RSVP/reservation/prepayment or can we just drop in that night? I will certainly plan to go. It sounds great...except I don't see gravy on the menu.
  9. Can you name the Soi and, ideally, the bar name? I'd like to drop by and provide an update.
  10. They come to FLB to pick up the girls on the night of the 11th. The following day, they go on the boat and come to the bar for the party.
  11. The after cruise activity has been changed to a party at FLB.
  12. Be careful with results from Kayak.com regarding Air China fares. My experience has been that when Air China comes in with the lowest price, and you SELECT it, by going to Orbitz or Expedia, the fare is not found. And, then if you go to the Air China site, they come up with a much higher price (like instead of 1100 USD, it's 2300 USD), or instead of a business fare, it's listed as an economy fare on their site. I've been trying to book a flight RT SFO-BKK in January, and I've had zero luck punching through to the low fares shown by kayak for Air China, and then finding them actually available. I've reported this to kayak, and they acknowledge there is a problem.

    Available now,

Good point. I modified the title.
  14. From the date on the post, he was offering to sell it over 4 years ago.
  15. FLB has coffee, espresso and cappuccino. I always order up a double espresso when I get to the bar each night.
  16. Good outcome for the hometown team. Now if the 49rs could get it going again, that would be even better.
  17. Off Soi Chayapoon? You do realize we're talking about gogos with female dancers, right?
  18. They always ask me for 1500 baht at the taxi stand. And, that's what I pay. I always use Mr. T to go to the airport, but the last few trips back, I have chosen to take a public taxi back to Pattaya. It's just more convenient than trying to find a booked driver and walking out to the parking lot with my luggage in tow. Quicker too...and guaranteed to be there.
  19. The OP said and only one of the three types of accommodation might provide that privacy. OP, have you looked at LK Legends' Duplex Suite (3BR 200+ sqm) at http://www.lklegend.com/ ? The price listed is about 12k/night, but I think there is a way to get it for less (9600b/night).
  20. I did a search for LMG Pacific information and found this http://www.lmgpacific.com/download/Downloa...GA%20Series.pdf I don't know how current or accurate it is, but it appears that, unless you have a lot of discount options, your insurance annual premium would be 71,500 or 112,000 depending on whether you chose Maxi or Ultra. How did you get a 35K annual premium?
  21. 7pm every day
  22. That's the export version (which is 5%). In Thailand, it's 6.4%
  23. What "party poker"? Is this another "I smelled yabba in the bathroom" thread?
