I've bought 3 office chairs that looked okay, but fell apart before a year was out. Wheels fall off, springs pop out, lift/drop stops working...the ones I've bought just can't last with use. I've been using a wooden dinner chair lately, and though my posture and back muscles are feeling the pain, at least it holds up to daily use. A new, good quality chair would be a real boon.

Using Subs-N-Suds as an example, one of the food vendors available through WOW, a Cuban Sub sells for 210b at the restaurant (or delivered by them), and WOW sells it for 325, an additional 115b or 55% markup. Subs-N-Suds deliver for free, WOW delivers for 115b over retail price, not to mention any possible discount provided by the food vendor to WOW. When WOW first started, I think they were fairly competitive with the pricing at the venue, but I'd say that's not the case now. Still, for those places that do not deliver, the convenience of ordering from the home is sometimes worth the extra charge. But, it's good to know what the markup is on something you can sometimes have delivered for free by contacting the food vendor itself.

Good question. I meet lots of people who say they never post, but are on this board. And, of the top posters, I have met a few, but none (that I can recall) are regulars in any way. So, in answer to your very good question, I think there is little, if any, correlation between post frequency and bar presence. My gut feeling is that, by and large, a lurker is more likely to be a customer in a bar represented by a forum, at least initially. Most people are timid about jumping into a thread where all the posters are old hands. Lurkers definitely have their place in the ecology of boards. If nobody reads posts except those who want to reply to them, it's a very small audience. .

I use a Nexus One (smart phone) to monitor the board when I am out and about. Just view new posts once in a while to keep up.

I too am a reader of PL. Pastry had only recently brokered an agreement where both Alex and I were restored posting rights on our respective boards, and I was looking for a cooling of animosity that had been brewing for the past couple of years, primarily IMHO, based on unfounded or one-sided gossip, misunderstandings, or lack of agreement on what boards were about. I log into PL every day. It's another group with another set of viewpoints, and I think its closure was a mistake. Sure, moderating a board is difficult, troubling at times, and frustrating. It's hard to let people who you think are spouting bullshit to keep posting when you have the power to silence them. It's tempting to do so, but you have to remember that you are dealing with people from different cultures, age groups, points of view, and that your opinion is just one of many. It's a sobering responsibility. I can't get rid of everyone who I don't agree with, because that ensures that no one feels safe to post and invest their effort into adding input to the board. So, I say to Alex/mulphy, chill out, step back and understand that there are many points of view, but do your best to share with your audience your knowledge and opinions, but expect that some will disagree with you. If this makes no sense, I'm sorry. I just came back from a 2 for 1 gogo crawl, and I'm doing my best to see one keyboard.
