  1. I find it hard to believe that this was taken serious by some BM's. I off coarse accept that the BM's took it in good faith & and tried to assist, but fuck me, the clown can't even spell haemorrhoids. What my question is if he does this type of shit to a friendly, welcoming Pattaya info board out boredom to pass time, what does he really do for kicks?? Has he been in Ipswich in the last month??? Regards to all, I quickly put this PS on to say thank you for posting but the arsehole that started this thread did so for other reasons.
  2. The best way for sure. Experience the traffic at least once then decide!! Walk or Baht bus for me everytime!! Best regards,
  3. I could not recommend them. I actually asked one of the flight stewards/hostess why I had to ask for a drink 3 times before it arrived begrudingly!! But on the plus... they are cheap. You get what you pay for. How they get a high rating baffles me!!! Regards.
  4. cookie, A great read and very amusing. Thanks for taking the time. Best regards,
  5. Marcy, I would recommend the Dusit. Its a very nice family hotel in a quiet end of town but still close to good shopping & restuarants etc, walking or via baht bus. I am sure it has large family suites on the top floor. The hotel is not expensive by European standards, but don't book for breakfasts as I think they cost 7 or 900Baht when I was last there 2 years ago when they where refurbishing the hotel and the pools. Dusit has its own small private beach, ok for sun bathing, but I don't swim in the sea at Pattaya. Should you want breakfast then just go down and eat, then sign f
  6. Guys, Thanks for all your comments this is helpful as I now feel inclined to wait until Jan, but I know I could be tempted and just book as I always feel happier knowing its booked and I can just concentrate on looking forward to my trip. The main probs I have are firstly the dates. We want to go for 3 weeks with the Songkran about the middle of the trip. So this kinda dictates the dates. Secondly, the other main expense is because of the fact I live in Northern Ireland. I don't want to sound unappreciative of posters comments but I was aware of WestEast. The cheapest price th
  7. Guys, I have always flown direct in the past, well, as direct as I can from Belfast, BHD to LHR to BKK. Cost £560 On my last trip, 2 months ago, I booked Emirates flights via Dubai, 4 months before departure because I thought the price was ok. One month before departure I could have booked to fly direct from LHR, with Thai for £470. I wanna go to Pats end Mar to mid Apr 07. The prices all seem very high. Every flight agent I talk to blames it on Easter and Im thinking so what theres an Easter every year . I usually go to Pats around or just before Easter and paid £500ish for t
  8. I am in the same situation as meatball. My first choice is Thai. I have managed to get BA, Qantas and Thai flights for around the same price but my first choice is still Thai. I admit the planes are older and perhaps inflight services are not as good but.. I can not ever remember having my Thai flights fucked up because of striking baggage handlers or caterers. Its not a good feeling flying to LHR and no one can confirm your onward BA/Qantas flight is even going to take off! Regards
  9. Hi, I'm wondering if any onyone has stayed at Nova Lodge, say within the last year or so? I fancy a change from my usual and am considering the Nova Lodge or Areca Lodge. Any advice would be appreciated. BTW, Im going over Songkran, are Pattaya hotels "much" busier over this period?? Would I need to book soon? Thanks in advance.
  10. Guys, I usually travel to Pattaya with a few mates. We often stay at Sabai Lodge as we like the hotel and location. The main thing we like about Sabai Lodge is we can get rooms next to one another with verandas. Every few nights we all go to the hotel together, each with our new sweet heart for the night. We just feel sometimes we have had enough of the bars. So we go back and have a drink or 10 on the the veranda. Its a good way to finish the night. We can move the chairs and the verandas are big enough to seat 6-8 of us. I don't want a room on a high floor with a 6" x 3" balcon
  11. Thanks guys, Ranger, thank you!!! thats what I thought and wanted to hear!! Best regards to all,
  12. Hi, I want to travel direct from LHR to BKK end of Mar 07. Prices still seem very high but I hope the prices will fall come Jan 07 when Thai airways renew contracts with UK operators. The girl in Trailfinders told me this but could/would not tell me more. Can anyone tell me what she meant?? When is the best time to book flights? 5 months before, 3 months before or 1 month before??? Thanks in advance.
  13. Guys, Did you phone for prices or did the their web site work for you?? It does not work for me! Cheers,
  14. frankieo, I have not stayed at the Areca but I have stayed at the Sabai Lodge many times, 7 times I think, and I have no desire to try elsewhere!!! Girl freindly, nice hotel with 4 good pools in a great location and you are never more that 5 mins away from any part of Pattaya as the baht buses pass constantly 24hrs a day. No wifi and could perhaps need sprucing up in a few areas, but I remain more than happy with this hotel and would strongly recommend it. I am back again next month!! Email Care for "best rates" then email her back and ask her if she sure that that is her best
  15. Could someone please quickly explain this FF & Gold or Silver member stuff at emirates. How long do have for example to do 4 round to be entitled to the 5th free?? 12 months? 18 Months? 6 months? Sorry for appearing like such a novice but I usually just book a flight with who ever is cheapest at the time but I am booked with emirates for my next trip next month and was wondering if it is worth my while starting FF orsimilar scheme. I go to LOS around 3 times a year. Cheers and thanks in advance.
  16. Hi all, It depends what you are after. If you are after a mongering type trip then for price, choice and flexibility the net probably can't be beaten. However, if your traveling from the UK and want a family type trip some travel companies are hard to beat. Kuoni is especially good value for money. E.g. book 7 nights in the Dusit and get 7 nights free. Free room upgrades etc. But like I stated only for "family" trips. Only top end Pattaya hotels that do not welcome guests seem to be offered as deals in the Uk or hotels that you would not want to stay in because of location. Thi
  17. Thanks Wrassell, Great photos and I appreciate them. I miss the "other guys" pics also. Once again thanks wrassell and I hope you continue to post you pics regular! Best regards to all.
  18. My advice would be to lend yourself a few $$$ and buy a ticket like the rest of us. Regards to all.
  19. Hi all, I just returned from Pattaya earlier today. When I was confirming my return flight at the travel agent on Soi 2 she informed I could change my return flight by putting it back a few days if I wished for 300Bht. This surprised me as I thought it would have been more?? I booked via Trailfinders in the UK flying out Qantas and returning with BA. I echo the concerns that other BM's expressed regards booking with BA as I experienced the strikes a couple of years ago. I took the chance this time as the price was good. Regards to all.
  20. Hi all, I too will be in Funderland from 250306 until 090406!!! I will go to Hammers Cherry bar most nights. As Im staying at Sabai on Soi 2 so I usually start and then finish up back up on Soi 2. I tried to say hello to Hammer before but I always missed him. But I'll make sure I introduce myself this trip though. I will be travelling with my mate from home so if you hear a guy with a Belfast accent in Cherry BB then say hello it'll probably be me!! or my mate! Floppyjack, are you flying out of LHR on 24 Mar?? Maybe we're on the same flight? I'm on Qantas? Regards
  21. Hi Guys, I go out this Fri, 24 Mar until 09 Apr. I am going out with a mate and will be meeting up with hillbilly. I stay at Sabai Lode so will be starting every night at Soi 2. Anyone wanna meet up then give a shout!!! Personally I prefer to go with a mate. I think the secret is that you "dont live out of each others pockets" so to speak. I maybe see my mates for a couple of hours at the pool during the day then maybe meet up again later for a couple of beers at night. Otherwise I do my own thing. Also I find the journey to/from the UK to be an absolute fucking beard when your t
  22. Deleted. I'll keep my thoughts to myself on this.
  23. Hi all, I am currently selling my UK property as I wish to downsize. The proceeds from this will pay for my new UK property with no mortgage. I am also leaving my current employer mid next year and will receive a settlement "handshake". It is my goal to live in Pattaya. I could afford 2-3 mill Bht condo or house but due to family etc in UK could only be there 3 - 4 months a year. Would this be a good investment? and do you think it would be easy to lease on a monthly basis? Could anyone recommend an agent for such. All thoughts welcome as I am sure you realize this is a bi
  24. Hi, I recently flew KL to BKK return on Air Asia. The plane was very shabby on the inside but who cares if its a short flight and your only paying £80!!!! I would recommend Air Asia. Regards to all.
