  1. I should say there is an Elite line actually. The Thailand Elite card line or whatever than nobody can use!
  2. No First Class or "Elite" line in BKK. Have to wait in line with the common people.
  3. I'm 29. I first came when I was 22. So 27 is a prime perfect age to come. Nothing wrong with young guys coming to Thailand. It aint just for old fogies. The only issue to worry about is money.
  4. You can get a bicycle in Big C for under 2,000B probably. Don't know if that's any help. :)
  5. always have correct change! pay separately. dont say thank you -- just walk away. never pay more than 10B. just walk away.
  6. How come there are no midget sex routines in Pattaya on show?
  7. What day of the week are you flying? Tues/wed are the lightest loads of the week on most any flights, especially transpacific.
  8. NWA gives me comp upgrades trans pacific pretty often nowadays. But that's because I'm platinum in their frequent flyer club.
  9. That doesn't still work anymore, does it?
  10. I've stayed at Sawasdee Sea View almost 2 years ago when I bought their buy one get one night promo for 12000B at the TAT tourism fair in Bangkok. 1200B is completely the wrong price, but I figured at 600B a night I could give it a try. Anyway, staying there I thought it was worth the 600B. There is no pool, and the building is nestled in tightly using about every bit of land they have there. There was a lot of thai people staying there during my stay. Decent location -- just a few minutes walk down the soi from the beach. The set breakfast, included in the price I had, left m
  11. My web site: http://www.viewtalaycondos.com has a map (taken from another web site!) to show the location of View Talay 1. My prices on the web site are for up to 1 month. Long term will receive a discount. I'll let other people discuss whether they like View Talay or not. I like it a lot.
  12. Nice report. It would go perfect on flyertalk.com also. I just did my visarun last week BKK-TPE-BKK on KLM same day. Outbound was in business, and return in economy class. Business was just ok. seats not actually that comfortable and certainly not sleeper style. Return in economy class was better than business, since I had a 3 seater all to myself. Anyway, I've been in the EVA lounge in BKK and it is nice. But now I finally got to go to the EVA lounge in TPE. It is fantastic! They had fried vegetables, fried rice, fried noodles, noodles with some cheesy sauce. 2 soups. dim
  13. Bliss Mansion on Soi Diana used to be my choice for cheap hotel, before I bought my own place. Last time I checked rooms were 450B. High season probably would bring it to 500B or so I would guess. Rooms were newish a few years ago. Apex hotel has two wings, old and new. I only stayed in the old one -- and it is too old I think. New wing might be nice.
  14. Remembering how nice the VIP bus looked when I saw it parked at the Pattaya bus station a while ago, I decided to try it. I checked a while ago and it costed 250B. Looking to take the Thai Airways bus from Don Muang to Pattaya bus station I walked up to the information counter and asked "where is the bus to Pattaya?" She said no more bus to pattaya. Service stopped a year ago! This is a real shame. Is it because nobody was using it? I know it was a problem that the bus didn't leave often enough...
  15. Definitely do priceline!! Also, the cosmopolitan hotel is very decently priced at around $120/night.
  16. Lancashirelad, Last week I went from View Talay to Big C in North Pattaya. I paid a 20 baht bill for 2 farrangs. Then the baht bus driver's lady doesn't want to accept it and says it's 20B per person, because we're tourists and Big C is far. I just held the 20B up from the curb and said -- "do you want it or not"? She said OK and the baht bus drove away. I am not a tourist. :) torrenova, You are right probably. I haven't gone to Naklua in a very very long time. Oh and on Sukhumvit the fare is always 5B because there is no tourist baht bus mafia on Sukhumvit. These
  17. Never ever give the baht bus driver more than 10 baht for the fare from Jomtien - Pattaya (unless you like to just hand out money to people who don't deserve it). Why not give to charity instead? Now if you go from Jomtien - Naklua, then that will be 20 baht because that is a different zone. There is Naklua zone, Pattaya zone, Jomtien zone. There are not zones that baht bus drivers can just make up. That said, always have correct change, and always pay separately to avoid problems. Cheers
  18. The little Euro Park "serviced apartment" Hotel is where I always stayed too in Bangkok. It has a cute little pool and very very quality rooms for the price I was paying 700-800B (years ago). It's way down soi 1, but the motorbikes are only 5B when I was staying. It's sort of a little hidden gem maybe.
  19. View Talay 2 has two pools -- that is true. But each pool is only half the size of View Talay's one big pool. VT2, you would have to walk out through the car park and to the other building to try the other pool, and it looks the same anyway, so I am not sure why someone would "choose their pool" there. Saying all this, I think VT2 is a great place to stay, as well as VT1.
  20. People like Grace Hotel because of the reasonable price. It's a surreal experience I'm sure, and that may appeal to you. There is plenty of arab food around and even african. They have a bowling alley, belly dancers, massages, snooker, coffee shop, etc. The Egyptian restaurant on the street level is very very good. I've never stayed at the Grace Hotel. If you want a surreal experience, then try it out. :)
  21. You may want to check out my site: http://www.viewtalaycondos.com while you are making your choice. January is available.
  22. Yes that's exactly what it means. Foreigners cannot own the condominium if it is not previously owned by a farrang already once the 49% is filled up. This is why some farrangs will take up a company to "own" a condo, same like most farrangs "own" houses and land in Thailand.
  23. My 2 cents. I own 2 condos in View Talay 1 that I offer for rent. I completely love the complex place. This talk about the maintinence going down hill in VT1 is simply not true. The complex around 11 or 12 years old, and is very very well maintained. In fact they just installed at least 2 security cameras on each individual floor this year. Also this year they installed granite wall tiles in the lobby, floor to ceiling, around the elevator. The complex is not low class at all. View Talay 1 has one big pool that is shared by both buildings. VT2 has 2 pools, one for each buildin
  24. surely you can get the amari cheaper than that, maybe on expedia, travelocity, zuji.com, or some site like that? This hotel is perfect for your wheelchair since you can just wheel over the connecting bridge.
