  1. I would say Jan 10th is still very much peak season. It's not very fun walking around with a wife nagging you about where to stay and what are we going to do now -- believe me I know. I would plan now. By the way I just looked up hotels and saw the Welcome Plaza Hotel at 1500B/night now. Did they get a refurbishment? Because I remember the rooms as horribly dumpy.
  2. I would guess an ipod would definitely be more expensive in Thailand. But generic brands might be cheaper in Thailand.
  3. My wife and I have been hired to manage the decoration of an empty shell in VT3 and in VT5. Anyway the owner didn't know about the TT3 document at all -- no thanks to the private agency she bought from. So here is what they did to be able to put the title deeds in their names. The agency was able "buy" a foreign exchange document for around 4000B from some currency exchange office and use that in place for the land office. So, that is another option maybe?
  4. I hear there are some programs to crack the pw protected signals. Anyone know about that?
  5. Theppressit night market is my favorite for cheap local food. Anyway, if you want it real cheap you can buy a packet of noodles and use the hot water from the coffee machine in the hotel to make a bowl of ramen. Some of those packets really taste delicious :)
  6. My fave for real local spicy Thai food is always the Theppressit Market, next to the outlet malls. Ok, it's out of the way for most people, but well worth going -- especially on the weekends when it is really really big.
  7. Thanks Shit_Happens! happyfarrang, I take care of a few units at Majestic Condominium in Jomtien that would suit your price requirement. PM me if you're interested in those.
  8. Maybe my view talay condo rentals might interest you: http://www.viewtalaycondos.com The baht bus goes directly to Soi Diana for 10B day or night. It takes about 5-10 minutes, depending on traffic. There is always one either waiting or passing my View Talay to go into Pattaya. Anyway, it's always a fun ride.
  9. funny. but i thought maybe a US soldier might've stuffed the cork up his anus for laughs also?
  10. Abosulutely tell the tourist police. You should have called them immediately. The hotel staff could call right away when it happened if you requested it. The tourist police is very good from what I hear.
  11. Agree. Award availability on NWA to BKK is so tough to find. It's so tough that next week when In fly back to BKK from USA I will have to fly to Singapore, then catch a Malaysia airlines flight to Bangkok in the wee hours of the morning. Gotta do what ya gotta do!
  12. If you don't have luck finding a rental, you can buy a cheap one from Big C or Tesco for around 1000B and change I recall.
  13. Northwest Airlines treats you real good if you fly them enough to get Elite status. Platinum gets 125% bonus miles and comp lounge access when on int'l flights. I enjoy that. :)
  14. I have a friend with a condo in Bangkok at "Nana Condo", it's just steps from Nana Plaza in Soi Nana. It's a studio (36sqm), furnished with high ceilings. If anyone is interested send me a PM. Rent is around 12,000B/m - 15,000B/m. If money is no issue, then I love the President Park complex in Suk soi 24. Mostly because they have the best fitness/leasure club around http://www.capitolclub.com(I'm a member).
  15. 10B no? I always just pay 10B.
  16. I say go straight to Pattaya by car service. Does Mr. Toom pick up that late? (I am not endorsing Mr Toom, as I have zero experience with him.)
  17. And I guess people are going to pay it... Northshore looks like a very big success.
  18. People who do that ruin it for everyone else.
  19. The worst is to get into a serious relationship with a bargirl. That will just make your money situation a lot harder!
  20. The place you're staying at has no TV?
