Do you give money to beggars?
bangkapiboy replied to benny27's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
PattayaPete, you are right on the money. As with any country, some beggars do make a lot more money than those who actually work for a living as well. Exposing Thai TV shows have followed some of these beggars with footage showing the beggar at his lavish home after a long day of begging. The same goes in New York, my home, a somewhat family friend dresses up daily like a bum and plays flute at ground zero. He actually owns a big house in Jersey, rents out all the extra bedrooms, a car, a motorcycle, etc. Begging can also be a very lucrative job. -
I spoke with someone at those houses between View Talay 1 and 2 close to a year ago when I was driving around looking to price the houses. He said he was paying 40,000B/m for a single floor house near to the air conditioner "Kongman" shop.

Can anyone recommend a good wi-fi amplifier for my laptop so I can catch signals farther away? Where do I find them?

I haven't seen Skateboarding in Pattaya, but I have in Bangkok. In Bangkok, The Esplanade Mall on Ratchada has a half pipe in their skate park and some skate shops. Skateboarding has caught on a little bit in Bangkok. Who knows if or when it would make it down to Pattaya... So, bring your skateboard and show off your tricks down beach road -- just be careful of the baht busses!

Anyone ever had a problem bringing a bar girl back to your place?
bangkapiboy replied to ginseng's topic in Expat Issues
The answer? It depends on where you're staying... If you're staying around Sukhumvit, then it is no big deal, since you're no different than the other farrangs. If you're staying on Lad Prao Rd, without any farrangs around, then you may be the gossip of the building! -
Give the man a telephone number!

Nice, and even has 2 microwaves. :)

The Capitol Club is a fitness/leasure club located on Sukhumvit Soi 24, Bangkok, with classes, rock climbing walls, tennis, squash, pools, sauna, steam, restaurants, jacuzzi inside and outside, private restaurants, and bars, very exclusive, very friendly. Sorry -- no club in Pattaya, so only is relevant to those who live in Bangkok. All features of the club are available to you at no extra cost, like 5 tennis courts, and 2 a/c squash courts, free all day parking, etc. They even have great special classes for the kids. Locker rooms are huge 2 levels, free robes, shorts, t-shirts, towels, slippers, toiletries at check-in. You will see many rich locals and celebrities with memberships here, as well as a very international membership population. This isn't your average gym, as Capitol Club likes to separate themselves from the rest as being a comfortable leisure club. There is also a reciprocal program in place with exclusive clubs and country clubs all around the world that you can use at no extra cost up to 1 month each time (eg. Singapore, HK, Tokyo, Taipei, Shanghai, Beijing, USA, Australia, Europe, etc.) This particular LIFETIME FAMILY MEMBERSHIP cost 175,000B (+VAT) if bought directly from the club. URGENT sale at 40,000B total, OR BEST OFFER. Sale price is already including all the transfer fees involved that I will pay (over 20,000B). Website and information inquiry: http://www.thecapitolclub.com/membership.html Club requires 2,000B/m to keep this family membership active for use. At this price it is a bargain! Includes the whole family all in one membership! PM or email me for the sale. jason@viewtalaycondos.com

Is the place next to Big C?

That certainly clarifies things. Really great plan, if it worked.
