  2. If you want a good, cheap driving range, head up Pattaya Klang to sukhumvit road, look to your right and on the other side of the road you will see a Korean run driving range. automatic ball machines and only 25 baht for 40 balls. Ideal for new golfers. Also another range in pattaya South and one off 3rd road in pattaya north.
  3. Might be worth mentioning that if you retire here (or have a visa) you can open a thai bank account, get a credit and atm card and not be charged for atm withdrawals. you can use internet banking to transfer money from your foreign bank account to your thai one (there is a fee for this ) You are then not dependent on the foreign bank account only.
  4. after many years visiting thailand I found i didnt have the discipline to learn on my own. I bought the books and the CD but usually gave up or 'couldnt find the time". last visit I enrolled in a language school and found it was just what I needed. I HAD to go (I had paid for 4 weeks & I am cheap) for an hour every day. I HAD TO do my homework, or lose face with my beautiful teacher, and surprise, surprise, I did learn. Not a huge amount but at my age it was good progress. will go back for book 2 of the program next month.
  5. it is certainly not correct as someone said above (scottish thai embassy?) that you can only get the retirement visa outside thailand. most of the ex-pats I know in pattaya got it locally. this is also borne out by the comments at thaivisa.com. Perhaps the "whoremongers" do know better than the scottish embassy staff?T he consul general in brisbane oz advised that much easier to get retirement visa in thailand as no police check etc. , my house-mate got a 60 day visa before he left. he then applied for the retirement visa at immigration in soi 8 pattaya four weeks after he got there. he went
  6. i was speaking to a bar owner a couple of months ago who has a couple of bars in soi's 7 and 8. He reckoned that within 18 months all the bars in that area will be closed and land developed. said that the push is on to move bars to the sukhumvit side of 2nd road, and up to soi bukhow. any one hearing the same thing??
