  1. ok, I know that if i want to buy a condo I need to send the money to my thai bank in an overseas currency stating that it is to buy a condo. I know that I need to get a Tor Tor Sarm from the bank. I also have read that having the TTS will make it easier to get the money out of Thailand if I sell the condo. My question however is:- what happens if i change my mind after the money arrives? 1. Am I free to do what I like with the money? Can I use it to qualify for a retirement visa? Can I use it for everyday living expenses while living in Thailand? Can I put it in a term deposit account? can i send it back to the country of origin? 2. Also, is the money unavailable to me for any purpose until I purchase the condo? Anyone know if there are any restrictions?
  2. Yeah, the V8's always produce close, exciting racing. very evenly matched and pretty reliable so you dont get half the field retiring.
  3. Thanks for that one. I didnt know about Diana estates, sounds like a good option if I dont get good security at my next place.
  4. Thanks for that Barry, it doesnt look like an option for storing a motorbike given the access description you give?
  5. Barry, can you let us know the results of your enquiries, please.? I have good storage facilities in my existing place but want to move to a bigger one where it may not be as safe.
  6. Eric, you seem to have a few condos for rent in Jomtien Beach? how big are the condos? will be looking for something bigger than my small studio when I come back in mid may so its a bit early for me.
  7. I buy my return ticket to australia in Pattaya three times a year. went up from 23,500 baht inc taxes 5 months ago with royal Brunei (usually the cheapest) to 27,500 with the same airline. ended up getting a cheap deal with malaysian for 23,700 for 60 day ticket.
  8. An Out of the Blue conversation at the breakfast table:- TG: How much john pay for chuckwow? ME: What did you say? TG: How much john pay for chuckwow? Me: John doesnt pay for chuckwow, he can do for himself or get girlfriend to do (chuckwow is thai for masturbation) TG: (getting exasperated with me) How much he pay for chuckwow ME: He doesnt pay for chuckwow, teelak TG: (getting really cross now) How much for room chuckwow? ME: He doesnt have a room for chuckwow TG: Room chuckwow near Nirun (Nirun condo block in soi arunothai) Me: Oh, you mean the room at Shagwell hotel? TG: Yes, shagwow, how much? ME: No teelak its not chuckwow its Shagwell, say after me. TG: Shagwow, shagweww, shagwell so busy laughing I didnt even answer her question. had to pick up the phone and tell John.Turns out later that every time John had said he watched the football at "chuckwow" she thought he was having a ST and watching the world game at the same time. Boy, communication with a TG can be fun!!!
  9. Yeah, same story with me. bought new suzuki with 12 months insurance theft/accident. tried to renew it one year later when I paid the road tax/3rd party. they werent interested. Wish I had known about the 2 year option when I bought it.
  10. What about free oj/water for the non beer drinkers?? suppose I will have to have my usual coke ligh,t huh mulphy??
  11. If you dont ride a motorbike, check out the transport situation. you might get a cheaper rent and then paying out a lot of money (or using a lot of shoe leather) to get to and from your regular haunts. also some places have minimum stays or you dont get your deposit back, so ask the right questions.
  12. I would also be quite happy with 10-11am but with the proviso that there is some action in the morning. A lot of TG dont realise that we dont pay them to "sleep over" we pay them for some early morning action. When they arnt interested the punter only wants to pay ST rates and this causes a lot of grief.
  13. Jesus, I cant believe some people, if they didnt have something to whinge about they would be really disappointed. a bar owner does something positive for BM (and in peak season too!) and all he gets is shit thrown at him. If you dont like the offer then stay home and let those who appreciate it (and the bar) enjoy it. AND I DONT DRINK BEER EITHER!!!
  14. Yeah, after reading your reports I would have thought there wouldnt even be room in your taxi for the driver!!
  15. Hi martin, looking forward to catching up with you at FLB (and other venues!!)
  16. I have a taxi booked with Mr Toom. Anyone like to share a ride??
  17. one of my regular places the boat Bakery, second road opposite boystown (take care) most meals about 35 baht, closes around 9pm opens early for a 40 baht breakfast. has one of the best pad thai around.
  18. I wired $A9000 in thai baht, to my thai bank account. the conversion rate given in oz was 25.7 to the $A1. when I got to Pattaya I changed a bit of cash for a friend, conversion was 27.45 to the $A1. Sending the money in baht cost me around $500!! Never again.
  19. Read in the local paper that it is going to be made two-way. this will REALLY slow everything down!!!
  20. With my advanced years, I have to have had my Milo and be tucked up in bed by 2am. Nice thought though Alan, glad to see someone is thinking about new ways to attract customers.
  21. An Internet shop near my condo in soi buakhaow charges 80 baht per page for translation so for english to thai and thai/english that would be 160 baht. 200 is not over the top by the sound of it.
  22. Its not that high up, but its pretty cheap!! the food court outdoor terrace on the fourth floor at Royal Garden Plaza. choose your own food from a couple of different outlets then eat inside in air con or take out onto the terrace. a Nice view out over pattaya bay.
  23. Here are the details of the private bus service:- Bell Transport run a large air con bus between the Bus Terminal in Pattaya North Road and the new airport. Cost is 150 baht each way. Used the service on Sunday and it was great, 1hour 45 mins pattaya to drop off at departure doors. The timetable is:- From Pattaya - 6am, 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, and 7pm. From the Airport - 8am, 10am, 12noon, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm. If you want a pickup at the airport, you telephone 027474675-6 and they will meet you at door number 10 at the 2nd floor exit level. The departure point in Pattaya is the office at the back of the terminal complex, on the right hand side. It has a small red and white "AIRPORT" sign outside. Staff answering the phones speak english
