  1. when they went to don muang they only ever had four trips a day, last one at 5pm. will make enquiries this sunday about any new arrangements. funny enuff they used to charge 250 baht to don muang and they quoted me only 150 to the new airport. nice to see prices come down for a change.
  2. I am using it this sunday for the first time. I used to go to Don Muang with this company often but could never find out the times/location of buses back to pattaya. will give it another shot on sunday.
  3. Just want to remind people that there is an air con coach service from the bus terminal on Pattaya North Road direct to the new airport. the cost is only 150 baht, tho they only have a limited number of services, 9am 1pm and 5pm as I recall (?) . Phone number is 038 370055 and the receptionist speaks english.
  4. In australia, I can get a simple will done by a solicitor for around 2,000 baht. If I cant afford this, I can get a Will form and complete it myself, sign it and get two witnesses. It is accepted by the courts. In Pattaya, I only own a motorbike, a bank account (not much in it) and some small household goods. to leave these few items to my Tg I am quoted 7-10,000 baht for a simple will!! This seems ludicrous to me? Has anyone found a cheaper alternative, please?
  5. It has been stated several times by immigration staff that it started on oct 1st and visa free entry before then was not counted. they also said that immigration would count up the ACTUAL DAYS spent in thailand, rather than counting each single entry as 30 days regardless of how long you spent in country. e.g you came to bkk for 5 days, got a 30 day stamp, then left. this counts 5 days not 30. Not sure I would trust immigration to count too accurately tho.
  6. scumbag, just a word of warning on aussie banks and sending money. I transferred $9,000 oz dollars via internet using ANZbank to my Kasikornbank account. The rate was 25.8 baht to the $. When I got here I changed $200 at Bangkok Bank to deposit in my friends TG account, the rate was 27.4 My ANZ transfer cost me $500 lost dollars and they also charged me $22 for the transfer as well. Friends here reckon you should send the money over as $A and get it changed to baht here, a much better rate
  7. anyone like to share a cab from the new airport to pattaya??
  8. stayed there myself and no problems, clean and well run. biggest hassle is transportation, not a problem if you hire a motorbike but relying on taxis/baht buses if you have a companion can get costly and time-consuming. You can get just as good accommodation closer in to town, or somewhere on a baht bus route.
  9. I have been in pattaya for three years now and never had a problem with the local water. I have a fridge that has an iced water dispenser in the door and I fill it from the tap. Always cleaned my teeth with the tap water. I do have bottled water when out at restaurants, however.
  10. When I opened my account with Kaisinkorn bank about a 18 months ago, they gave me an ATM card and Visa card. never used the credit card (never asked for one) as I have my oz one as well.

  12. do a search on "viagara" for a previous post on prices and locations. the pharmacy next to Tims beer bar on 2nd road seemed to be about the best price quoted.
  13. If you have an international licence you do not have to do the written or practical tests. I had a car and bike endorsement on my international licence and I was in the pattaya vehicle office on route 36 for less than 1 hour. walked out with both licences. did an eye test and depth perception test only. when they expired after one year I renewed them for a five year job, this time it took less than half an hour.
  14. Growler, thanks for the link. it confirms another post that last bus 7pm. torrenova, I dont have a suitcase, only a small carry on bag, I live in a house in pattaya so all my stuff stays in thailand.
  15. Arriving late, about 9.45pm. will get a bus from mo chit if no one available who would like to share a cab.??
  16. does anyone who has used the bus from Mo chit bus station to pattaya know the DEFINATE time that they stop running at night? Heard a lot of different times quoted but would like to confirm it for sure.
  17. Taken the bus many times. I usually get the airport bus to ekamai (100 baht) and then the pattaya bus. ozboy is a little out in the timing (30 mins) , it usually takes about 2-2half hours but can be a little longer in the peak times. this time I am planning to get a cab to mo chit bus station (about 100 baht) and get the pattaya bus from there. saves the long haul out to ekamai and probably a quicker exit from bangkok.
  18. Also, check the bike for damage BEFORE you take it out and point out any damage to owner. common for hire bike companies to try and stick foreigners with the damages from previous rentals when they return the bike. Many companies have a limit on how far from pattaya you can take the bike (usually 50km). Get an international licence covering a motorbike and bring your UK licence, cos you dont want to spend time hanging around soi9 cop shop. Watch where you park, cos they are locking bike wheels up and making riders to to soi9 and pay the fine. be very defensive in your driving, thais do not wat
  19. buying my tickets in pattaya now. got a 3 month return with royal bahrain for $807 inc taxes and charges. go back on 3rd July.
  20. While the centre of pattaya is quite hectic, you might want to consider renting a place on the eastern side of sukhumvit road, which is quite tranquil. If you are down the south end (closer to Lotus/Tesco) you are not far from shopping and Jomtien beach. Not so far to take your "companion" home for the night either.
  21. getting some really good stories about the great service at the new jomtien immigration office. Looks like a definate change for the better
  22. My specs are about one third the price they are in australia. Use a place in big C but I had a problem when Tg sat on them so dropped into top charoen in Pattaya Klang near 2nd road. fixed them on the spot and no charge, even tho I had told them they were not bought there. I know where I will go next time!! and Yes, the serving girls are very cute.
  23. About five months or so ago the BIB were having a blitz on copies of drugs like viagara, cialis etc. Most pharmacies were only selling to people they knew, and they didnt have stocks on premises, you had to wait while they brought them. Maybe this is a repeat of the same problem? Very unusual for all 3 to be out at the same time in a quiet time of year. Try the pharmacy next to tims beer bar on 2nd road, best price around and unlikely to be sold out.,
  24. Sorry, forgot to say that the flight was to Brisbane, Queensland
  25. Just wanted to share my experience with RB. bought a 3 month ticket for $807 return, inc taxes. Had to change flight to one week later, no problem. flight left BKk on time, arrived Brunei 25 mins early. Cabin attendents were great, service really good. two hour stop-over in bruni and left on time again. Only about 25% full so plenty of room to stretch out. once again, cabin service first class, meals good and in-flight screens on seats were terrific. Seen some negative stuff on RB on a couple of boards to wanted to post my positive experience. will use them again.
