Airbus and Boeing products running behind schedule
MrMango replied to BigDUSA's topic in Idle Chit Chat
You guys are crazy! Only a small percentage of the original Comets crashed. According to you - No big deal - I do not have a clue what the expected lifetimes of those engines are - My guess is probably 3-5 thousand hours before replacement. If you have one out of a thousand, that's unacceptable to me - 7 out of 20 (or 80) after such a short time is a major problem. -

I disagree. I want the Government to buy the best product at the lowest price, just as I do. Do you really think that a Boeing product has all American parts? Do you really think that a Airbust product has all European parts? -

As we all know numbers do not lie but liars do numbers.... If you read close, it says Boeing employs more than 159,000 people across the United States While Airbust says: EADS North America and its parent company, EADS, contribute over $11 billion to the U.S. economy annually and support more than 200,000 American jobs through its network of suppliers and services A BIG difference. -

I understand! My point was that that was not a subsidy, as the amounts were minimal overall. -

Of course these things happen, but the total amount of money is insignificant in the big picture. -

The amount of local money as a percent is almost zero. No Company would modify it's behavior based on these insignificant giveaways. Padded? naaa. They bid against all bidders and if they can discredit another bidder they have a better chance of winning - Just the same as Airbust did. Remember, Airbust cooked the procurement books to get a better chance at wining the award. -

I NEVER said that Boeing depends on Governmental funding. Sure, part of Boeing that builds aircraft for the government depends on payment from their customer, but the civilian side willingly accepts any free money (as any corporation would) but is not dependent on them. -

Why stop there? Give them 40bn and maybe then they can almost give away the 380's. If a little bit of a subsidy is good, then a lot would be better, according to wacko lib theory -

Well, if they gave away their planes I'll bet that would change. Airbust sells quite a few planes to the US. -

Then pay a LOT more please. I would be happy if they GAVE away their ships - Lower airfares for Americans! If you want to put 20euros in each passenger seat of every Airbust ship, who am I to bitch. -

How come you wacko leftists have to take cheap shots - Are your arguments so week that they cannot stand on their own? Pretty sad if you are that shallow of a thinker.
