Sounds like pure BS to me. From what I read, SW airlines, who is the biggest customer of Boeing's narrow body tubes, insisted on the same low tube height so all of its ground infrastructure could be used on it. To do that, they had to mount the bigger diameter engines a few feet forwardard, changing the W&B a bit, but that does not make it unstable. They did come up with a hairbrained solution - MCAS that relied on a single pitot tube to tell it when it was about to stall and when that failed, they did not tell the carriers how to disable it when it failed. Lots of blame to go around. The crew did not have a clue how to deactivate the MCAS system and spent precious seconds trying to figure it out, resulting in the crash. Bad design and lack of training IMHO.

Actually that was my case. My cataracts were mild and I was tired of the hassle of contacts. My regular Doc told me I really did not need it, but he told me how to lie (a little bit) so the insurance would pay for it... The surgeon was more than happy to do the work and he submitted the documentation to the insurance company and they approved. The actual procedure was different than the OP posted as they only did one eye at a time but there were 2-3 weeks of meds before and after the procedure.

Since I had been using mono vision with contacts, it was obvious to the Doc I would want the same with the replacement lens and there was no increase in price. I now live without any glasses for far or near.

But I cannot think of any other reason to have lens replacement surgery other than cataracts. Maybe a rare brain disorder or accident, but 99.9% of lens replacements are done for cataracts IMHO.

yes all correct and I was offered the option of the more expensive one, but he said that cataract replacement lens were more expensive than replacement lenses I believe, which does not make sense to me.

Are you saying the price difference is the lenses they use are different? That makes no sense to me.

I am a bit confused, you said there is an extra charge for cataract surgery, which is simply removing and replacing the existing clouded lens - Why the extra charge? And you did not mention the type of lenses that they would be inserting, as there are several options - Astigmatism correcting, variable focus etc. which adds considerably to the price, and from what the Doc told me, the variable ones have a spotty success rate. Of course we all know that .exe files are executable, and we all know not to open one unless we know with certainly it is a legitimate file, not a virus or Trojan. When I have a chance, I will look at taht when I can sandbox it.

That only makes sense. Marketing 101 would say don't push something that portrays a bad image.

I assume Boeing and its sales force does what any sales force does - Sells airplanes and they don't benefit by pushing the number of seats to a customer who doesn't want that. They are not selling to some rube, but to very sophisticated Corporations who know exactly what type of bird they want.

The seating is a function of the cabin width as well as the desires of the Airlines, not boeing or Airbus. And the pitch of he seats is the same, up to the customer.

When you sell anything, you offer all kinds of options, but it is the customer who decides. Airlines are very sophisticated in what they want in their birds and it is there choice, not Boeing who makes that decision.

It is not the airplane manafture who decides the seating but the provider, so blaming Boeing for not having leg room is crazy.

Off the mark? I don't think so. I agree with your post but it totally misses my point, When I had my computer company, I found that maybe 10% of the programmers were great, 60 % average, and the rest idiots. And there were idiots and geniuses in all wage areas.

I totally agree what you said but my point is that if you pay a higher price for engineering makes it any better. There are great programmers and bad ones, I have hired both and the price I paid them was not what determined quality.

As it should be, that makes all of us better off. I do not understand the logic of somebody saying that a $30 per hour idiot is a better programmer than a $9 per hour idiot. Managements job is to make the best possible product at the lowest cost and always has been.

I am on the big island now (0n the west (dry) side), and we get maybe 5 inches of rain a year vs. 300 inches a year on the east side. But Lava does not have much nutrition and to make soil they take macadamia shells, crush them and mix with crushed lava rock to grow anything.
