I am on my 5th trip to LOS in 2 years. On each occosion I have booked a taxi in advance and have not been let down before. I am aware that Mr Toom is saying he was there. He was not. I was in companyat BKK airport with 2 other guys whom I met on arrival. They were both experienced visitors to LOS. They helped me look for Mr Toom. He was not there. There is not a lot more to be said. Mr Toom claims he was there. I am certain he was not. You guys must make up your own minds. I mean no disrespect whatsoever to Mr Toom. However, I believe he let me down. Regards to all.

Heard many good reports of Mr Toom's service on this board. On the strength of previous recommendations I made a booking with him several weeks ago to meet me at BKK airport on 5 May and transport me to Pattaya. A few days before travelling I emailed Mr Toom for confirmation of the booking. He confirmed that he would be there. He wasn't. I am not saying that makes him an unreliable guy. I just think that if someone is happy to accept bouquets for good service, said person should also be prepared to accept brickbats for poor service. Regards to all.

I have been reading in other sections on this board a discussion about the relative merits of Phuket v Pattaya. I would have thought that an obvious plus for Pattaya is that one is able to take a direct flight from the U.K. to BKK airport and thereafter simply take a taxi ride to Funtown. Perhaps someone who has sampled Phuket (I have not) could advise whether it is possible to take a direct flight from the U.K. to Phuket. Or is it necessary to fly to BKK and then take an internal flight to Phuket? Thanks

I emailed Mr Toom today to see if he was available to transport me from BKK airport on 5 May. He responded in the affirmative almost immediately. If his driving service is as good as his response to my email I will be well pleased.

jesper dk. I am also arriving on 5th May. Where are you flying from and which airline. time etc? Perhaps we could meet up for a drink in the airport.

One of the good things about this board is that it is o.k. to ask questions, the answers to which seem obvious to the world and his brother - but not to me. I am becoming an increasingly regular traveller to LOS. I read about getting "free" air tavel with particular airlines which is earned by travelling with them frequently. Would someone kindly explain how this works? I did join the Eva air miles club but how one gets a free flight remains a mystery. I am travelling with Thai Airways in May and I understand that they also have a "club" which entitles you to free air travel provided you satisfy certain conditions. Help please guys. Thanks

Must agree that the P & W provides excellent food. The fish and chips is great. I didn't think it was overpriced. Only my opinion.

Hello all I accept that this is not an exciting thread that will get boardmembers scrambling to their PCs. I am simply seeking information from anyone who has stayed at the Areca Lodge lately. Does the hotel provide towels for use by guests when using the hotel swimming pool? I usually stay at the RG and they do provide towels, but I am aware that this is not necessarily standard practice at all hotels. Thanks

Welcone Ron. I shall be coming to LOS on my own during early May. I suppose we are likely to be of similar age. Despite my maturity, I retain a great appreciation of attractive TGs. If you would like to meet up for a drink in Jomtien or Pattaya PM me. In any case, I wish you a long and happy retirement.

My opinion is that the only way to hit Funtown is solo. No need to consult with anyone over anything you may want to do or anywhere you may want to go. However, I fully appreciate that others prefer company. Whatever floats your boat. I do agree that travelling alone can be rather dull. To all with trips to LOS planned - have a good one.

Well Jack. You appear to have got a good one there. I don't know about American females, but I am certain you would not get an English woman to care for you in the same way that you are being cared for. The very best of everything to you.

Whilst I understand the sentiment, regrettably I do not think it would drive the lager louts back to Spain. Although they seem to only share a brain cell, they are still likely to be able to figure that LOS provides a more economical option than Europe. Drat.

Certainly that would be a difficult record to surpass. 36 hours between trips to LOS. Wow!!!!

Have to agree with PokerUpFront. When in LOS I find it better to be alone. I had 3 trips to LOS with a very good buddy but there were many occasions when we could not agree on where to go etc. On my 4th trip, I travelled alone. It was great from the perspective that I did not have to consult anyone about where to go, when, what and where to eat, when to head back to the hotel etc. Having said that, I met up with a lot of lone travellers who turned out to be great transient company. Anyway, I am back in LOS from 5th May and would be happy to sink a few with any other boardies who are on their own at that time. Regards
