Thanks, that gives me a good idea. I'd probably do much of the same as you, maybe a little golf every now and then. Excuse my ignorance, but is that symbol (looks like an L) mean pound?

Glad to hear thing are working out for you. I know there have been other threads about living expenses, but would you give an example of your monthly living expenses? I'm considering trying to retire there but am not sure my 2K (USD) would be enough.

Thai Girl ties for 2nd at SBS Open in Hawaii

That's something you don't see everyday. While there are many Asian / caucasian mixed marriages most of the time the asian is the woman. -
I stayed at the Grans Business Inn on Soi 11 a couple of years ago. Very similar in price and accomadations to Grand Majestic (I've stayed there too). Coffee Shop better (imo) than the Grand Majestic. No in-room safes though.

Thanks for the reply. With the USD in the tank my 2K USD retirement almost meets the income requirement, but I will have between 75-100K USD in the bank so I should be ok in that regard. I'd like to find something to fill my time, I think after a time hanging in bars all day will get old. I'd hope to play golf once or twice a week too.

Thai Girl ties for 2nd at SBS Open in Hawaii

Russy finished tied for 53rd and won just over $4,000 (USD). Not a real good final round, but at least she made the cut. Next up is the MasterCard Calssic in Mexico City. -
I've been giving serious consideration to moving to Thailand, I'm over 50 but would have a retirement income of just over $2000 USD and was looking at a way to supplement my retirement income. I've read about the restrictions of a foreigner working in Thailand and was wondering how so many foreigners are able to own a hotel or guesthouse. Are they in a Thai Nationals name? Can a foreigner own or only lease such an establishment? What initial outlay of cash can be expected? What is a realistic income, after expenses? Are the headaches worth the trouble?

Thai Girl ties for 2nd at SBS Open in Hawaii

I can't say how many of the top 20 played, but most of the big names in women's golf (except Ochoa) were there...Sorrenstam, Kerr, Creamer, Pressel, Gulbis, Pettersen and all the big name Japanese and Koreans players. I'm certainly no expert, but this girl has serious game and the right mental attitude to be hugely successful on the LPGA Tour. Plus the fact she has already banked $75,867 (USD) and doesn't have to worry so much about money. -

"In 17 career tournaments before the SBS Open, Russy had only made two cuts and earned $4411." Ok ChesireTom...we'll see how she does this week. -
I know it's still a little early.

Stereo Lounge Anyone tried this place?

There's a positive review on the Addicts board. http://www.pattaya-addicts.com/forum/index...?showtopic=5712 -
You're using a package deal for your stay in Patts? While I'm not certain, as I've never used a "package deal"...I'm sure you can get much better rates on your own. Especially in low season.

I can recommend the Vault. Yes, he requires a deposit, but I didn't have any troubles in that area. Though there is no pool, they offer free laundry which is very convienent. Mike even upgraded me to the Penthouse room at no charge as there was no one staying there at the time. Close to Walking St too.

I booked a Standard Room. They want 2500 bht on Metropole's web site and 1800 bht for the FLB Deal for the same roon...so I think I got a pretty goo deal. I've never stayed there but have heard good things about the hotel and I like the area. I've stayed at the Areca and wanted to try something different.

I just booked a room for 1518 bht through Agoda for Sep. They have some of the best rates for hotels I've seen.

Robins nest hotel soi dianna inn

http://robinsnestpattaya.googlepages.com/r...elandrestaurant Here's the web site. I like the area, may give it a try in Sep. -
Got to agree with Lolligager. You can experience everything Nana Hotel has to offer from Majestic Suites except the nasty. filthy, 1980 decor Nana Hotel room. But to each his own, one night is all anyone should have to endure. There are so many other options very close by...MS, Majestic Grande, Heldleburg, Grand Business Inn, Ever Rich to name a few. I'll be there in Sep too, still trying to decide between MS and Ever Rich. Have fun.

MikeyMike, Please let me know how you liked the Pattaya Bay Resort, I booked there in Sep. Thanks.

Anyone have any info on the Baboona Beach Hotel located on Beach Rd between Soi 3 and Soi 4, mainly is it girl friendly? Not sure if it's a hotel of serviced apt, but it looks nice? I tried the Hotel Reviews and did a search...nothing. I've sent them an email but no response yet. http://www.baboonabeach.com/info.html

I'm reserved for early Sep. Nice thing is they don't want a CC for a reservation, but I'm sure that will change. I'm impressed by their fast response to emails, less than 24 hours. I'm going to head to the Phils for a week and they volunteered to watch any luggage I may want to leave behind. Does anyone know about decent restaurants close by?

New to Pattaya...New to Golf
wedge95 replied to 4niceight's topic in RideHer Cup Planning and Discussion
I think it's better to buy a good used set of clubs, any golf course (at least those in the USA) has a PGA Professional who gives lessons (usually $30 for 30 minutes) and can help you pick out equipment. That way you can decide if you really enjoy the game, before you spend alot of money on equipment. The best advice for a beginner is to get lessons, that way you minimize bad habits that can be hard to break later. Golf is a great game, good luck -

Also stayed at the Heidleburg (Sp?) Inn, it's on Soi 4 right across from the 7-11 and Sin. Rooms around 1700 bht, but recently remodeled with flatscreen TV and free b-fast. Someplace to try if you're in a bind.

I second Majestic Suites. The rooms are a bit small, but when I'm sleepiing or I can't tell the difference. Also the location is ideal for Nana, and Cowboy is a short cab or even walk away. Friendly staff and girl friendly...you also get a free breckfast, but I've never been up early enough for that.
