Are you a train enthusiast ? I've never travelled to Pattaya by train but believe it takes between 3 1/2 - 4 hours stopping at every lampost in the way. Bus or cab will do the journey in half the time.

A word of warning about Kuwaiti airlines. I used them once to go to Bangkok and had a 6 or 7 hour wait in Kuwait City in both directions. They're also strict Muslems so no alcohol on the plane or at the airport.

Maybe things are different on islands where full moon parties take place but in all my visits to Phuket and Pattaya I've never seen anybody openly smoking a spliff. Having been a Pattaya regular since 1994 I have seen many farang "bar owners" come (with money) and go (with none). The Pig & Whistle in Soi 7 has large screen and a/c. BUT it fills up quickly. Got to get there early for best view.

Try the Pheonix. It's a pleasant day out. I found I could do 18 holes in the afternoon and still had the energy and enthusiasm to go out to do a few more "holes" of a night-time. ;D Dode

Cambodia is probably the nearest but I've never been there so can't comment on the country itself. I once did a visa run to Penang, Malaysia. IMHO that place is a bit of a dump. 8)

On the other side of the Dolphin Roundabout on the corner of 2nd Road and North Pattaya Road is KISS restaurant. IMHO the best VFM restaurant in Pattaya if cheap and cheerful is your priority. ;D

Can anybody advise on visas available in Pattaya ? A mate on mine is arriving in Pattaya on 5th March for 5 weeks. He may only have a visa for 1 month and wants to know if he can obtain a one week extension from the Immigration office between Soi 7 & Soi 8 on Beach Road. Can anybody advise if this is possible or will he have to leave the country and re-enter ? ???
