  1. Look forward to the Bangladesh entry Steve O! The Ashes have come home. Doggie
  2. Deuce Replace the tart with a bottle of Cuban Gold and that cartoon looks remarkably like my old partner D'Artagnan. Two to the rake and then sink a downhill 12 footer for the birdie and the half! Doggie
  3. Softrabbit Good news about your tickets. I will make sure you are entered for the Catz Open as well. I am planning to organise a few additional golf days that I will post as a new topic on the forum. Here's the plan as it currently stands, including the additional golf days: November 1st The golfers that are in town meet up early evening for a drink and I can run through the golf programme before we go out on a bit of a prowl. November 2nd A friendly warm-up round at Phoenix - the venue for the RideHer Cup. If there are enough players interested, I can arrange for our golf professional to join us and run a clinic before the round. He would then move around the groups offering a bit of coaching. We have to be careful because he is an American! November 4th Catz Open at Khao Kheow. Individual stableford competition. Details to follow. November 6th Launch party for the RideHer Cup in the evening November 7th The RideHer Cup at Phoenix followed by RideHer Cup party. November 9th The Pattaya International Texas Scramble at Burapha. Some of you call it an ambrose. Teams of 3 players per team representing the various countries and regions will compete in this international event. More info to follow - I will post this on the board and you guys can form your teams. If you don't get invited into a team we will draw the additional teams on the morning of the competition. November 10th I have booked tee times at Eastern Star. I suggest a friendly skins game in fourballs followed by a foreskins game in Bang Chang on the return trip. Softrabbit - you can look up your old friend! I will arrange transport for each of the golf days and I will post this programme in another topic so that players can let me know rough numbers in advance. I know some players would also like to play Laem Chabang. If there is enough interest I can book some tee times for Saturday 12th. Similarly, if some of you are in town before the 2nd and looking for a game, I should be around from 29th October and I will be happy to sort something out. Should be a fun few weeks! Doggie
  4. English You have just failed your MI5 test! Everyone here knows that this is a photo of the last RideHer Cup that you have grabbed from the gallery. We forgive you. I assume you are the one wearing the yellow jacket because I know the golfer in the picture. Ding dong bell! Glad there's no hard feelings and we can have a laugh together on RideHer Cup night. Doggie
  5. All Chiang Mai trip members. Can you please email me your full name plus the name of your companion for booking purposes. I will need these to get the e-tickets issued. Taxi has enquired about a room upgrade. I will be meeting the hotel in a few weeks so I will get rates for the upgrade then. My email is bertiewon@yahoo.co.uk Doggie
  6. The Chiang Mai Golfers list Here is the current list of golfers (and non-golfers) who have registered for the November Chiang Mai trip. Hilly and Ann Marie Pieman Steve O plus 1 non-golfer (return from Chiang Rai on 19th) Big Brian Big Kev Fornicator Taxi plus 1 non-golfer Softrabbit (arranging his own flights) Bob 4 you plus one non-golfer (non-golfer joining in CM) Pakawala Doggie There are a number of others who have expressed an interest but have yet to make a decision. When you are ready, just let me know. There has not been enough interest in travelling there in a mini bus so that option is not available. The favourite plan is to go by air and to take the clubs with us. We are hoping to get a deal on Nok Air Business Class as soon as they publish their timetable for November This will give a 30kg baggage allowance. We will also be sending one vehicle up to Chiang Mai which can carry clubs for those who want to send them ahead. That vehicle will not be going back to Pattaya so you would need to take them with you on the return flight and pay excess if necessary. Please let me know if you want us to transport your clubs. I also need to know who wants business class and who is happy with cattle class. If you want to book your own flights, please let me know soon and I will exclude you from the block booking with Nok. I will book the return flights to Bangkok early morning so that those of you leaving that day can connect. Please let me know your deadlines to be in Bangkok (if any)so that I can select the best flight. I also need to know if you are heading back to Pattaya so that we can have transport meet you at the airport. Big Brian's clubs will be travelling back to Pattaya alone. Let me know if I have missed you off the list. Plenty of time left to book. Doggie
  7. With just 2 months to go until the RideHer Cup, here is the latest entry list. We now have 33 confirmed players and a few more still to confirm. It is the biggest RideHer Cup yet. I have booked 10 tee times at Phoenix and I can add more if the entries top 40. Team USA and Canada Confirmed players Grendel (Capt) Mescalito Scoby Martin BKK Bob 40 Hub Big Kev Fornicator Thumper Sailfast Rayray1271 Dward2929 Bob 4 you Pakawala Marz Art USA players who have still to confirm Sammy Shilo Monte Team Europe Confirmed players Deuce (Captain) Ben Doggie Soft Rabbit Big Brian Bertie 707 Foursome Frank Bald Baz Pieman Hilly Anne Marie Priory LV&RB Simon B The English Patient Hammer Europe players who have still to confirm Brian C Eneukman (Alan) Australians and Kiwis Confirmed Steve O Dungheap - Aussie living in Japan Taxi JC 1 Mr Bill There is plenty of time to register so please keep the entries coming in. I need to keep a track on the numbers for tee times, shirts and transport. If you have not confirmed yet, can you please let me know if you are planning to enter or not. I need your shirt size, email address and handicap. Apologies if I have missed anyone. Doggie
  8. Welcome Simon B. I have added you to the list. E mail address is not compulsory but it helps if you want me to send you a copy of the rules when I publish them. You can send me a pm with your email address. Are you also interested in joining the Chiang Mai trip? Cheers Doggie
  9. English It is a pity you have been offended by my innocent remark. If you are going to participate on this forum and, more importantly, if you are going to play golf with many of the board members, you need to get used to the friendly banter that will be thrown around. In your post, you described yourself as " I am not very tall but I have a big fat gut ". That, my friend, makes you a short fat bloke. Your definition - not mine. My suggestion to you is to lighten up and get off your high horse. There is no apology necessary from me. If and when you play golf with the guys, there will be insults aplenty flying around. They are all in good fun and "short fat bloke" is about the tamest insult you are likely to suffer. Golf with the guys on this board is great fun but you need to play by the rules. For example, if you don't make it past the ladies tee, you will be required to play the next shot with your trousers round your ankles. If you refuse, then the fine is a bottle of whisky on the table in the clubhouse on your checkbin. I suggest you think hard about whether you want to play golf with the guys here. If you are of a sensitive nature, then don't bother. Go and play on your own and then you will never be offended. However, if you want to have fun, be prepared to both receive and dish out the banter. Fortunately, you are from England so you know all about taking the piss. There are guys playing golf with you who have, and will continue to have, the piss ripped out of them on the golf course. That includes me. There are also some, who will remain nameless, that have had extremely embarrassing experiences in the Bang Chang bars and have been man enough to admit it and, with great reverence, have even posted here about their experience. He knows who he is and has my great respect. If you are still feeling insulted, then post a photo of yourself on this board and we will all have a vote to decide whether you are a short fat bloke or not. Alternatively, wait till we meet on the RideHer Cup registration night and you can stand up on the stage and we'll have a vote there and then. If the majority decide that you are neither short nor fat, then I will happily buy you a bottle of whisky there and then. If not, it's a bell ring from you and mines a b52 thanks. As to the idea of a drink-off involving the Pieman, no effing way. I have a lot of golf to organise for you guys and this cannot be done from a bed in the Pattaya International Hospital. My advice to you English is to drop this argument right now before you make a pratt of yourself. Doggie
  10. We will be pleased to register your entry English. I assume from your name that you want to play for the USA. They are a bit short of high handicappers! Seriously, I am sure the European captain will be delighted to have your services. For the Polo Shirt, I recommend an XL. That is usually about right for short fat blokes like you. Make sure you remember what size you ordered when you come along on the Sunday night! You will meet a lot of golfers who will be in town for the RideHer Cup so I am certain you will not be short of invitations to join in with them. If you want to make new friends fast, just go to the end of the bar at FLB and give a couple of short sharp tugs on the rope hanging there. You will make a lot of new friends instantly! Ignore the comments from that Steve O - he is in a bad mood because the Poms are whacking the Aussies at cricket. Doggie
  11. Golfer You will not be disappointed with Gussan - it is a splendid course but very difficult. I would not recommend it for anyone above 18 handicap. It is a combination of fairway, jungle and water. If you dont hit the fairway with your drive then just hit 3 off the tee. However, it should not be a problem for a golfer of your calibre. It is a pity you can't make the RideHer Cup but you will enjoy good golf in Chiang Mai. If you are playing 11 courses then I imagine you are including Chiang Rai in your trip. Or maybe you are like Big Kev and describing dinner! Hub, nice to see your sparkling wit is boundless as always. We are so looking forward to your company round the bars in Pattaya! It will be a pleasure to try to play the same fourball in the RideHer as last year. And I am really looking forward to the drinks stop after the front nine. Doggie
  12. Brian If we get business class on Nok we will be fine. They have a 30kg allowance. I am currently planning to have one car leave Pattaya on Saturday so there is also the possibility of getting some clubs up there with that car. Will advise nearer the time. Doggie
  13. Sailfast I can arrange rental clubs for the period you are in town. This is much cheaper than renting per round. Just let me know whether you are left or right handed and your preference for steel or graphite shafts. They might not be brand name but I find it makes bugger all difference. I can sometimes get Honwa which are excellent clubs. Also let me know if you need airport pick up organising. We can send either a 4 wheel drive (up to 3 golfers) or a mini bus (up to 6 golfers - 8 at a push). I can send you prices if you PM me. Doggie
  14. Priory Thanks for the confirmation and welcome to your friend. We are especially pleased to welcome 14 handicappers to play for Europe! I will be organising some more golf days in Pattaya between 6th and 12th November. A bunch of us are off to Chiang Mai on 13th but there are a few of the guys remaining in Pattaya who will be pleased to join you for a round or two I'm sure. Doggie
  15. Welcome aboard Bob. Glad you can join us and we will book you a double room. Doggie
  16. Thanks for confirming Bob. Is your friend Bill 4 you going to be playing as well? Doggie
  17. Great work Deuce - you have a rare talent! I also appreciated the new avatar that you created for me. You really have them scared now! Doggie
  18. Dungheap I might have a car going from Pattaya to Chiang Mai leaving on the Saturday with a stop over en route. If you want to go by raod, I am sure we can organise something and I may even join you! Doggie
  19. Taxi I think that quite a few of the guys will be bringing girls with them. Chiang Mai is a great place to celebrate Loi Krathong and that is more fun with a girl in tow. We have a girl based in Chiang Mai who looks after our regular golf customers and she will organise a couple of excursions for the girls when the guys are away playing golf. She can also point them in the direction of the right shops to spend your money. I predict that we will probably dine together in the evenings as a large group and then the solo mongers might split off to forage for some local cultural experience. If the "attached" guys want to bar crawl with the solo mongers, the girls can be deposited together in a local karaoke for a few hours with a brownie or two. As we all know, Thai girls are happier in packs so I am sure that neither you or your girl will miss out on any fun if you bring her with you. Doggie
  20. Thanks for the responses guys. Looks like a great group already! Will try my best to keep the Pieman away from water. Does he have to avoid mirrors and daylight as well? If so, will try to hire a coach to take him back to the Transylvanian Castle (try spelling that after as many beers as I have had tonight) before dawn. I am already resigned to losing my room to the Spoofmeister. Hilly, which mate is AM bringing - the one with the tatoos who is familiar with the Champs Elysee? Hope Big kev manages to hold on to his lunch on the flight! See you next Friday Hilly and AM. Looking forward to it. Doggie
  21. Thanks for all the entries guys and gal. Here is an update on those players who have confirmed for the event and those who have still to confirm Team USA and Canada Confirmed players Grendel (Capt) Mescalito Scoby Martin BKK Bob 40 Hub Big Kev Fornicator Thumper Sailfast Rayray1271 Dward2929 Bob 4 you Pakawala USA players who have still to confirm Sammy Shilo Monte Pen name Bill for you Team Europe Confirmed players Deuce (Captain) Ben Doggie Soft Rabbit Big Brian Bertie 707 Foursome Frank Big Baz Pieman Hilly Anne Marie Priory LV&RB Simon B Europe players who have still to confirm Brian C Eneukman (Alan) Australians and Kiwis Confirmed Steve O Dungheap - Aussie living in Japan Taxi JC 1 There is plenty of time to register so please keep the entries coming in. I need to keep a track on the numbers for tee times, shirts and transport. If you have not confirmed yet, can you please let me know if you are planning to enter or not. I need your shirt size, email address and handicap. Apologies if I have missed anyone. Doggie
  22. The 2005 Chiang Mai Golf Trip We are organising a golf trip to the North of Thailand in November 2005. This trip takes place the week after the RideHer Cup when a lot of golfers will be in Pattaya. We have also chosen this week to co-incide with the festival of Loi Krathong which is celebrated in spectacular style in Chiang Mai. The programme for the Chiang Mai golf trip is the following: Sunday November 13th Rendezvous with transport. Depart Pattaya in the morning and transfer by air conditioned coach or minibus to Bangkok airport. Fly to Chiang Mai on a scheduled flight where we will be met by our golf host - PGA professional Jeremy Paulson. Transfer by coach or mini bus to the Imperial Mai Ping Hotel. We are booked on a bed and breakfast basis for 4 nights. Monday November 14th to Wednesday November 16th We will be playing 3 of the top golf courses in the Chiang Mai area. Chiang Mai Lamphung Chiang Mai Green Valley and Royal Chiang Mai Golf Club. We will be collected from our hotel around 0900 each morning and transported to the course by mini van or bus for a mid-morning tee off time. The transport will return to the hotel in the late afternoon. In the evenings, we can organise dinner at selected restaurants followed by a bit of prowling around the fleshpots of Chiang Mai! I will be carrying out some exhaustive market research on your behalf in late September to ensure we have a suitable short list of bars and restaurants for the group! The big Loi Krathong celebration takes place on Wednesday night so I will try to book a restaurant by the river that evening. Thursday 17th November Check out of the hotel in the morning and transfer to Chiang Mai airport. Return flight to Bangkok. The trip ends in Bangkok because some of the group will be flying out of Thailand that day. We will organise transport back to Pattaya for those that need it and I can also offer good rates for hotel accommodation in Bangkok for those that need it. The price and what is included The price for this trip will be about 16,000 baht. The hotel and transport rates will depend on the number in the party so hence a price estimate right now. This price includes: Transport from Pattaya to Bangkok Airport Transport from Chiang Mai airport to the hotel and back to the airport Single room bed and breakfast at the Imperial Mai Ping Green fees, caddy fees and a cart share at the 3 golf courses Daily transport to and from the golf courses Souvenir Polo shirt Golf trophy and prizes The price does not include the air fare from Bangkok to Chiang Mai and return. We are planning to negotiate a group price with Nok Air or one of the low cost carriers in Business Class so that we get the extra baggage allowance. This should ensure that some of our "larger girth" golfers are seated comfortably and there is sufficient baggage allowance for your clubs. When I have negotiated the price, I will advise all group members and let you know how to pay this. Girl friends and non-golfers are welcome Partners are welcome to join the golfing group. The price for a non-golfing partner sharing a room with the golfer will be an additional 3,250 baht. This price includes the transfers, the additonal charge for a room share, souvenir polo shirt and two excursions. We will organise a couple of excursions for the partners when the golfers are out on the course. One will be to the temple in the hills above Chiang Mai - our host will sort out some other choices. Please book before the end of Serptember I need to know who is joining the group before the end of September so that we can get the final flight, hotel and tee times booked. Please register either by posting here or sending me a PM with your booking. I need to know: Your full name The full name of any partner that will be accompanying you Whether you need transport back to Pattaya on 17th November Your shirt size Room requirements - single, twin or double occupancy Your email address and the name of the hotel where you will be staying in Pattaya (non-residents). I will also be asking for a deposit of 50% of the cost by the end of September. I will probably set up a Pay Pal account for the trip. If some of you that don't know me are worried about the security of your funds, I am happy to sort out whatever reasonable security you might need. If you subsequently cancel, the deposit will be refunded less any cancellation charges we might incur from the hotel or transport provider. Hopefully, there will be no such charges. If you have any questions, please post them here or you can email me from my profile. Should be a great trip. Maybe some of the participants in last year's golf trip can post a few photos here to show you what to expect! I look forward to meeting up with all of you. Doggie
  23. Jambo How did you know I was planning to be in Pattaya at the same time as you? Good season so far for the jam tarts. I have given up on the Jags. We won't even beat Gretna this season. Doggie
  24. Thanks Sailfast. Can you let me know the handicaps for each of your players and nicknames I can use for the entry list? When will you be arriving in Pattaya? We will have a few golf days before and after the RideHer. There is also a trip to play golf in Chiang Mai from 13 to 17 November if you are interested. Cheers Doggie
  25. OK Hilly I will let the captains sort this one out. I am sure they will both be clamouring for your services! Now that you know it is Phoenix, can we rely on you to play more than 7 holes on the back nine? Doggie
