What about China Airlines? Impossible to book on it. Whilst we're on this thread, the best website is KLM - it shows you the dates around when you want to travel and whether they are cheaper. Lufthansa pretty good too, also BA.

Look, I'm not much of a techie as you will now gather. I have a nokia mobile phone which I use in UK, but can I use it in Thailand? Or do I have to buy some sort of sim card. It is a work phone so I'm not much up on how it is billed, etc. as they take care of all that. I just use it at work and pay for my private calls. Or do I have to buy a phone when I get there?

Some Reasons To Visit Champagne Agogo !

This bar advertises as 'no hassle' . Is that true in board members experiences? Would be quite some thing to be hassle free in my opinion. -
I arrive BKK 12.30 on KLM from Amsterdam, anyone want to share a taxi to Pattaya?

Intown Holiday Hotel(Soi Honey Inn)
benny27 replied to golden oldie's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Have stayed here many times, most recently Nov last year. Not luxury but better than the Sawadee chain esp the one opposite on this soi. Has two lifts and a decent, refurbished pool on top floor. A/Con a bit noisy and old, and the rooms are in need of a spot of redecoration, but large beds and cotton sheets, all cleaned daily, the staff are very helpful and friendly and I have got to know them over the years. All rooms have balcony and are much bigger than most for the price. I payed 650 per night but have paid as much as 850 in January/Feb. Mini bar in fridge not expensive - I paid I -
I'm the same as some of you guys, got attached to my old mini, don't drive it much here in UK as roads too dangerous for a small car but it would be ideal in 'up country' parts of Thailand. Would cost a small fortune to ship it over and pay the duty so will have to abandon the idea. But the auctions look a good idea.

Look, I hate using the word 'beggars' because that makes them sound somehow inferior, but just can't think of a better description. Anyway, does anyone give money to these poor souls, often to be seen by ATMs and banks, usually with a disability or baby? I do give, but wonder is that the right thing - should I give it to some official organisation such as Round Table instead? There but for the grace of god go you and I.

Whilts we're on the subject of massages, has anyone here; It is a building with blacked out windows, in a faintly italian/grecian design, lots of white columns and arches, marble, on left side going from no 2 road up to Carrefour, about half way up, near a coca cola wholesaler. There are no signs on outside and it is quite big. I've alway been intrigued as to what goes on there. Anyone got the answer?

To Jack Jones - you are not the union leader of the same name, I guess ( TGWU was it?). Have you ever tried thjis firm? If so, give us your comments. I went with Toom before but his vehicles were not very modern, but were on time and reliable.

Thank you, Cheshire Tom.

Mr Tom, Can you tell me the way to get a taxi from Suv. airport to Pattaya? I like the idea of a receipt and peace of mind going with proper taxi firm. Where would I head for when I have got through immigration and baggage pick up? Have got worried before when proper taxi just took me round corner and I got in unlicensed, private old banger driven by a student all the way to Pattaya. Thanks.

No, he might as well have owned it as he stayed there all the time. They even put up a sign saying 'Soi Henke' in his honour. Onec, and only once, I spoke to him when he was sober and he had a full time Thai lady but you never saw her except when it was time to carry him up to bed. I never saw him eating. Vodka was his tipple, very ocassionally beer. would have made a great charcter in a film.

This is good news, this is my favourite soi. Is Henke still around? he stayed at on one of the lodging houses about half way up I heard he had gone up country. Place just isn't the same without his drunken shouting and falling asleep with bottle of vodka in his hand. That man can DRINK. If anyone remembers him he was swedish I think, had kind of blonde frizzy hair. Shawaddy waddy!

Anyone want to share an early morning taxi from airport to Pattaya? Arriving at 6.40 am in BKK on China airlines flight 0066 from AM.. I will be booking Mr Toom.

I'm off there at end Oct but looks like work is nearing completion. I recall a few years back when they did Soi Skaw beach that runs parallel with Soi 11, lots of disruption but work soon finished. I am grateful for the photos, folks. In my opinion this soi is one of the best in town for bars and cheap eateries

My I just say that Mr Tooms driver waited for over 3 hrs on my last trip as plane delayed from Amsterdam, he was not mad and did not complain so I gave him big tip. Now THATs what I call service. Can't imagine the cabbies in my town of Immingham doing the same somehow. Londis cider is my tipple, wish you could get it in LOs

Here is tip worth trying, carry as sign when you get off the plane - I made one form an old piece of cardboard - offering to share taxi to Pattaya. It worked for me when I was going to Rayong.

Mtr Toom, I used and my flight was 3 hrs late from Amsterdam, guy wating there patiently, gave him a 400 baht tip, took me to hotel no sweat, 1000 baht all in as per his adverts. Older Volvo , but not a banger at least. Will use him again for sure
