One of the ways around the problem is to fly out of Seattle. I booked a flight from Seattle to Bangkok wiht JAL for about $700 cheaper than flying from Vancouver. I stayed there in December and January this year. Never had a problem. Staff is helpful and they didn'tm seem to mind me asking for clean sheets and towels at 4am! They clean the rooms daily and they change the sheets and towels daily. Fan, AC, Fridge, Room Safe. Internet in the lobby. On site laundry. On site beauty salon. Chokdee Mini Mart right next door. 15-20 walk to walking street, 5 minute walk to Soi Diana. I found it by luck and it was one of the only places available in high season as it was new and most people did not know about it. Thy still charged me the low season

I stayed at Chokdee Inn (316/140 M.9 Soi Buakhaow) during December and January this year. They were charging 9000 per month during high season. Staff was good. Daily cleaning, change sheets, towels, in room safe, TV, fan, AC and internet access in the lobby. It's located about halfway between Soi Diana and South Road on Soi Buakhaow. There are several other places in the same area. One that opened just before I left right next door to Chokdee Inn was only charging about 7000 per month, although I don't know what services they offered. I wish I had that kind of fortitude. I never even made it out of Samui on my second trip there I changed my flight and stayed 5 days extra. Then when I got back to Pattaya I stayed an extra 5 days there. This really messed up the plans I had for Hong Kong on the way home. But what there heck there's always next time.

You might want to look into a monthly accommodation instead of paying by the night. You can find many worthy places for 5-10k per month.
