  2. Cholanon apartments is under 20K and has wired broadband. It's on Soi Lengkee. They don't have a web site or anything, so you'll have to call, make a reservation when you're in town, or have someone reserve a room for you. I don't have the number offhand, but hopefully some of the other boardies do.
  3. Wow. Surprised to hear you say that. I've stayed at both and greatly prefer the Metropole.
  4. If you fly business/first or have lounge access due to status then the layover is a good idea. Take a shower and relax in the lounge. NRT has day rooms you can rent by the hour. There's a shower and a bed.
  5. If you cross Second Road and walk to around where Soi 4 starts, you'll find a large group of food stalls open during the evening. There's a large variety of Thai dishes to be had and the food is cheap.
  6. Do you recall if they had monthly rates?
  7. Thanks for the link. Too bad they don't have an email address. I'll try giving them a call to see what the rates are like.
  8. You can get Zythro at a pharmacy without a prescription. Same goes for Cippro, Amoxycillin, etc.
  9. One more vote for the Majestic Grande. You can see Annie's from the place. I like that trashy little soapie.
  10. That's a bit harsh, don't you think? While I wouldn't say that it's the most overrated hotel in Pattaya, I do feel that it is pretty overrated.
  11. I've stayed at Lek, Sandy Spring, and Whitehouse on Soi 13. I prefer Whitehouse by far. Why don't you try a new area of town? There are better hotels with greater value all over town and it's fun to discover new places to eat/drink/etc.
  12. When did the 3% charge start? I left in early December and it was still 1%. Maybe I'll look into PayPal's debit card for cash in LOS.
  13. How about any longstay places with monthly rates? The only place I've checked out with monthly rates is the Nirvana Suites on Jomtien Soi 4. The hotel is lovely and there'w WiFi, but the pool kind of sucks.
  14. Anyone have any info on the new hotel on Soi One? It looked like it was ready to open last time I was in town. If anyone has a chance to drop by and check it, please let me know. It looked quiet and pleasantly out of the way, though from what I saw from the outside the interior looked much like an office.
  15. They have in-room Internet here? Edit: Never mind, I'm stupid.
  16. No problem! The less people crossing second road at night, the better. Although the treachery of the cross does seem a bit overblown.
  17. That's not true. You can take the baht bus on Soi Buakhao to get to walking street.
  18. Ha! I'm looking forward to the blackout curtains. My lady and I did not enjoy the morning sun.
  19. I've paid high deposits on long stays there and have never had a problem getting the money back. It is important to tell them what time you're checking out. Your deposits a little high and they have to make sure they have enough cash on hand when you check out.
  20. For their big room, I was quote 1,500/night as a walk-in. This was in November. I'm not sure if the rates have changed since.
  21. This is a brilliant bar outside the Metropole. It's just a converted VW van with a cool bartender. I've stayed at the Metropole a bunch this year and think it's a great place to wind down the evening or safely drink until the sun's up (I'm outside of my frickin' hotel, what could happen?).
  22. I love the area in general, but have only boozed a few times at the bars. Lolitas is a frequent stop and I went to Champagne once and wasn't impressed. I'm surprised to hear you say that you think it's more upmarket than Soi 2/3. From what I've seen of most of the bars there, I wouldn't have guessed that.
  23. I believe MM used to live there. I don't think he's reside anywhere that wasn't guest friendly.
  24. The rooms at the Mansion are certainly not better than the ones at the Metropole.
  25. They tried to do this to me too during my September stay, but I really prefer the area by the Metropole. I know it's not terribly far, but there are many places I look to walk to around the Metropole that are just a hop away. Plus the VW bar is totally boss.
