I met one of the Google reps in FLB. He gave the FLB girls high marks for GFE, but was a bit disappointed in the bar's men's toilet. Evil

MK Restaurant, Central Festival (updated March 20, 2016)
Evil Penevil replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Restaurants and food
Another update from MK, which is the "most-favored restaurant" of a girl with whom I spend a lot of time. Shrimp, chicken and mushrooms: Veggies: Mostly seafood, but also some pork: The hot pot merrily bubbling: A final plate of mushrooms: Evil -
U.S. bar owners in Pattaya who have a background in professional cooking/restaurants (like Coop at Chik-n-Coop or Skeeter at Sky Bar) may be able to give you some tips on where to get American-style honey cured ham in Pattaya. The ham I had last Christmas Eve at the Sky Bar was equal to anything I've ever had in the U.S. Evil

Technically, there's a difference between ham and gammon. It has to do with the way in which they are cured. Gammon usually doesn't have as strong a flavor as ham. I have no idea whether restaurants in Pattaya actually serve gammon or ham, but the term "gammon" is used in the U.K. Evil

It was! Surprisingly tasty lamb for Pattaya, done the right way. The cook at the Queen Vic knows something about lamb. Evil

The title of this thread is a bit misleading. Depending on how you have or haven't used Google Maps (and I believe Google Search) in the past, it will list certain businesses, addresses, etc. in order of relevance vis a vis previous searches and activity. FLB Niteclub will be the "A" point for some, not for others. It has nothing to do with a popularity ranking as #1. So if Pook's turns up in anyone's results, they've been doing a hell of a lot of searching for ladyboy bars. The results for me: Evil

Sorry, Andy, I didn't see you reply until today. The cost was about the same, roughly 450 baht per head. And the robot was saluting me! Some more pics (quite a few people are eager to try the robot restaurant and as I said, the girls love it and always ask to go back). This time round we had the seafood buffet, an order of sirloin beef, extra mushrooms, vegetable tempura and watermelon. Actually a bit much for two people. Here you go, atlas: Evil

I don't know what the regulations are, either. I recall reading that Thailand has roughly two million legal and registered aliens in the kingdom, with estimates of illegal immigrants between three and five million. The illegals come overwhelmingly from Burma, Cambodia and Laos. Evil

One misconception that is gathering steam is that the ASEAN Economic Community agreement set for 2015 will "open the borders" for thousands of girls from Laos, Cambodia, Viet Nam and the Philippines to work in Pattaya's bars, with prices dropping as a result. In fact, the AEC won't have any influence on P4P in Pattaya, at least not in 2015. Some Western visitors to and residents in Thailand are under the mistaken impression that the AEC is equivalent to the European Union and Schengen Area. In truth, the AEC has far more limited goals. It is more like the pre-Maastricht European Econom

Yup, that's one of the biggest misconceptions you'll find about Thailand. Evil

We had a thread similar to this one a few years ago: What are the biggest urban myths in Pattaya / Thailand? Two of the widespread misconceptions that were mentioned then - and are still often repeated on the various boards - were: 1) It's "Thai logic" for Thai business owners as well as the girls to raise prices in low season because there are fewer customers; and 2) U.S. military personnel gave the Pattaya nightlife and commercial sex scene its start during the Viet Nam War years. Both are false and have been disproved many times. There's no evidence that any Thai busine

If that's the way it's going down, the guy is a total assh*le. One day, he'll do it to the wrong person and get a dose of street justice. There's no excuse for stalking BMs with the intent of embarrassing them. Evil
-
Does anyone have a link to the vids he uploaded on YouTube? It's his intent that important. If he's "staking out" massage parlors with the intent of embarrassing patrons or causing trouble for the establishments, then that's a bad thing and he deserves whatever he gets. But if the vids are just part of general street scenes from Pattaya, that's different. You don't have an expectation of privacy on any street in the world. If your job/personal situation is so sensitive that a few seconds of exposure on YouTube will cause you problems, then it's best to avoid places that are problematic. N

Foreign mafia in Pattaya
Evil Penevil replied to blackpudding's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Yes, that's the way it is today and hopefully it will stay that way. Only Russians have reason to worry about what Russians do to other Russians. But if at some point in the future the wiseguyskis feel confident enough to start with "hostile" takeovers, it will be the day the music dies. Evil -
Foreign mafia in Pattaya
Evil Penevil replied to blackpudding's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
It doesn't matter if Russian mobbed-up guys live or vacation in Pattaya. It's when they start making offers that farang bar owners can't refuse that we'll have reason to worry. Evil -
A few more pics from another meal at Hajime. The mascot: The griddle while warming up: The touch screen on which you place the orders: Prawn and vegetable tempura. The tempura is excellent at Hajime. The ingredients are of good quality and the batter is fluffy and crisp. We ordered the family beef set (six slices of wo kinds of beef, vegetables, four slices of duck breast, two rock lobster tails, two mussels) and it was enough for the three of us (two farang males, one Thai female). And the star of the show: Ev

Banchang has never been a favorite of mine. It always seemed a long way to go for what was essentially a smaller version of Soi 6. My impression is that it was wilder in the bars there a few years ago. Unlike Pattaya, you were allowed to take explicit pics of the goings-on, but that has also been stopped. Evil

MK Restaurant, Central Festival (updated March 20, 2016)
Evil Penevil replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Restaurants and food
A few more pics from another meal at MK. I ate with BM capdagde and we went with one of the "sets" for three people. Besides the plate of raw ingredients that went into the hot pot, it included cooked noodles, a plate of greens and roast duck. The cost was 1,030 baht and with non-alcohol beverages and a small tip, the total cost for three was 1,200 baht. Unfortunately, I lost the picture of the duck dish due to file corruption. Evil -
Beaver Bar & Grill on Banchang's main strip seems to be a good place for American food. I say "seems" because I've only eaten there once and had a rather limited meal. What encouraged me more than anything was the menu - it featured dishes I haven't seen offered very often in Thailand. The printed menu mostly listed standard American comfort food, but it and the whiteboard suggested a Southern U.S. flare. Make no mistake. Beaver Bar & Grill isn't a fine dining experience. It's pretty much a dive and you have to eat at the bar counter -

If You Wonder Why Russians Like Pattaya ... (More vids)

A laudable sentiment for certain. But the question is, how do the distillers get 110% alcohol in the bottle? Evil
