Why I PREFER NWA to BKK from US

Recommended Posts

While NWA has taken a regular beating here I guess I'm the only (?) person who prefers them...?

Here's some reasons why-

1-UNLIMITED upgrades to first class on domestic flights for 'silver elites'-easy to get status. I've been upgraded 80% of the time.

2-Cheap fares. For what ever reason, they are consisently the cheapest fare when when I fly--I fly 3x per year--Late May, Early Sept, and use miles at XMas.

3-Their scheduling. Yes, leaving at 6am(!) is a REAL bitch BUT their is an advantage--I get back to home in FL by 7pm the same day I fly out. And go to work the next day without feeling dead tired.

4-NWA's not in bankruptcy--at least not yet :eyecrazy Unlike UAL, etc.

5-Not much better service on other airlines. While I've not flown Eva nor SQ, I have flown CX, KE, and AS--Their service was roughly equal to NWA. I will say, though, JAL's service is SUPERB!! But their PANG MAK!! :eyecrazy

I too fly NWA from US to Bangkok (Via Narita). I travel for work alot and they are the prefered carrier on most of my trips. Once I got platinum elite (over 75000 miles), I started getting the occasional (1 in 4 legs) bump to buisiness class (when cocah is full).

I too fly NWA. But it is really because of the fact that I am already platinum elite, and get all those extra miles. I hate the 6am departures in BKK and the aging, hefty flight attendants. However the connections are quick and the prices are reasonable. All in all, I think that the positives outweigh the negatives.

I'm using my NWA FF miles to go to the LOS in November - Business Class.

Keep the babes warm and the beers cold!

msp-nrt 12 hrs

nrt-bkk 6hrs = 18hrs

next shortest from minneapolis is korea air at 21hrs

just because it the shortest flight out of msp, all others are atleast anouther 5hrs

plus my ex-works for NW and she can track me and know why i'm going to LOS

Hub,

I've flown on JAL twice and thought they had very good service, got into BKK around 11 PM. I flew on some very cheap fares and they gave me 70% of the miles towards my AA frequent flyer account.

With NWA, I really like the fact that the pilots first language is English. Sometimes when I fly Thai Air or JAL I can barely understand the pilot during his speech before takeoff. Makes me wonder if the flight towers can understand him?

Not a bad reason for folks who do a lot of "domestic" flying.

2-Cheap fares. For what ever reason, they are consisently the cheapest fare when when I fly--I fly 3x per year--Late May, Early Sept, and use miles at XMas.

I have no idea. Do you fly from MSP?

3-Their scheduling. Yes, leaving at 6am(!) is a REAL bitch BUT their is an advantage--I get back to home in FL by 7pm the same day I fly out. And go to work the next day without feeling dead tired.

This is why I like living near LAX! I can catch the EVA flight out of BKK at 5pm and get in to LAX by 9pm the same day (international dateline and stop in TPE). By time I get home, it's off to bed so I can get in to work at 3pm the next day. Leaving BKK at 5pm is way better than 6am! :D

True, but I haven't flown domestic in 18 months. I prefer to drive.

5-Not much better service on other airlines. While I've not flown Eva nor SQ, I have flown CX, KE, and AS--Their service was roughly equal to NWA. I will say, though, JAL's service is SUPERB!! But their PANG MAK!!

I flew JAL for years out of HNL and I agree. Also, CX and SQ are damn good.
