Any one stayed at the Sandy Springs recently

Recommended Posts

Going to Pattaya in the first week of September and I've been checking the reviews for all the hotels, so far it looks like Sandy Springs or Flipper house soi 7 is the one for us ( 3 x 30 year old single guys). Has anyone stayed recently at any of these two hotels? If so I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I was at Sandy Spring in March. Recommended, but there's a lot of building work going on in Soi 13 at the moment so noise may be a problem. I'm in Pattaya shortly but have avoided Sandy Spring for this reason. Keep an eye on the board for updates.

be seeing you

Hi,

Sandy Springs is AOK. Bit of noise during July from building works but nothing too serious. You need to get Deluxe rooms on a high floor - great sea views etc.

Flipper House - Smack bang in the middle of the action. Looked at rooms there and they were fine and a bit cheaper than the Sandy Springs. Didn't stay there as at that time Oct/Nov 2003 the in room phone connectuions didn't allow you to dial out for an internet connection. NO sea views.

Alternatives - Sunshine Vista, Bella Villa Prima.

You can't go wrong in any of the four above.

Enjoy yourselves!!

C.

PS - You're too young to go to Pattaya. Piss off somewhere else!

Am staying at the Sandy Springs now and there are two condo projects going on nearby, so there is street noise durring the day but have never heard any inside the room.

If you stay here you deffinately want a deluxe room that have a partial sea view, large, newer compared to all that I checked out near here and very clean.

The only other option(in this area) to check out it the Inn House. You can get a suite for a little less than the deluxe at the SS, the only draw back for me was that the TV was in lounge room and they didnt have one in the bedroom, if that doesnt bother you its a better choice. Need to book ahead as its small and books up fast. Get a room on the 7th or 8th floor.

Have fun

Stayed at the Inn House back in March. Excellent hotel. My room most certainly had a TV. Limited English language channels (which regrettably included the extreme right wing Fox News Network).

Mate the rooms at the Inn House would have to be the smallest that I have seen, Plus your up for water and electricity charges, bed linen not changed daily and if it is it costs extra, also no swimming pool or restaurant. Honestly I don't know where some of you guys are coming from. The Sandy Spring would have to be one of the best value for money hotels in the area. But it's up to all you so called experts.

Bigmike,

Whats with the attitude??????

I checked out every hotel on Soi 13 and 12 and none compared to the SS or the Inn house from my point of view. Some at much higher prices.

Have you been in one of the suites at the Inn on the 8th floor? Yes they are not as big as the SS suites, but they certainly are not small. In fact when you consider both rooms they are larger than the SS single rooms, and two rooms are a plus.

Many of the board's members reccomend the the Lek and the Dynasty both of which are not even close to either the SS or the Inn.

I am certainly not an expert on Pattaya but have stayed in a hotel once or twice before.

Thanks for you suggestion of staying at the SS.... have a great life

Sorry if I got up your nose travelingfox but one point I'm trying to make is that the Inn House are apartments where as the Sandy Spring is a hotel. The Inn House change linen 2 or 3 times a week where as the Sandy Spring change it daily, also the Inn House charge for electricity and water, it has no swimming pool and in my opinion the rooms are a lot smaller than the Sandy Spring. Other than that they are both quite new and are in a great location. I didn't mean to upset you but there are some people who tend to post some absolute garbage about accommodation in Pattaya.

:D

Bigmike.

PS I agree with you about the Fox network.

Bigmike,

You mat be correct about the linen change frequency at the Inn house. I believe that the Residence Garden also changes the linen only twice a week. I didn't think that most hotels would change the linen daily unless needed, but I could be wrong. If anone knows for sure, please enlighten me. Thanks.

Bigmike,

No problem. I didnt know about the linen, water, or electric situation and depending what they charge could be a big difference, no way to know if they were ripping you off or not

I just didnt like you flipping me the bird for saying that the Inn was the only alternative in the area to your favorite the SS....a bit over the top mate.

PS

I think I now understand why the SS is your favorite. They have CNN on their cable.....you must have your remote preset to that thinly veiled liberal platform that they call NEWS.....LOL!

This is an interesting thread...We start by inquiring about the noise on Soi 13, move into how many times the sheets are changed in the rooms about the soi, and we end up with a reference to the liberal incline of CNN. Interesting.

Mr Travelfox, may I suggest you spend your time a bit more wisely whilst in Pattaya? Forget the board for a week and go out there and see if you can soil those sheets so that they NEED to be changed TWICE daily. :livid Have a nice holiday. 5 more days and wheels up. James

Bigmike.

I think we must be living in different worlds!!

I stayed in a deluxe room at the Inn House about 5 months ago. The tiled floor got washed, and the bed and towels got changed, every single day I was there.

The room was not huge but most certainly not small. There was also a balcony looking down Soi 13 to the sea.

The swimming pool was on the roof and had a good view out over the bay.

The price was 850 Baht per night (negotiated rate but did not include breakfast). There was most certainly no charge for utilities of any sort.

I really can't believe things have changed as much as you suggest in the last few months.

Did you actually stay at the place or ask to see around it?

Bazle, WTF? :livid I like the Inn House inspite of the fact that you've spent some time there......

I've never stayed at the SS and probably won't as long as I can negoiate a two room suite at the Inn House for 850 baht. That's when I agree to rent by the week and it's all inclusive. The maids are good and a smile and a small tip gets me all the towels, pillows or anything else I want.

I LIKE having the tv in the second room. If the ladies want to watch the tube they can do so in there, as they did on some occasions. I have room for my computer and a telephone connection there so it works for me.

I'll probably try the Sandy Springs at some point but not until they offer a similar deal that I can get just a few steps up the road.

Bazle, WTF?  They didn't give you a remote control or is it that you haven't figured out how to work the little clicker yet?  I like the Inn House inspite of the fact that you've spent some time there......

I found that watching Fox was a bit like watching the God Channel (yes, it really is called that!) here in the UK. It is curiously addictive. It is like watching a street salesman flogging off fake perfume. It is so fascinating seeing how people can be so gullible.

You didn't answer my question, Bazle dear. You can't change the channel ?

On some cable networks in the US and Canada you can find Christian and Muslim channels on THE SAME TELEVISION ! Does that upset you, my intolerant friend? Are you so insecure that you can not tolerate contrary views to be heard?

Your question will not be dignified with a reply.

In the UK, it is required that there is a balance in news reporting. Turning a channel into one for propaganda would not be permitted. With so few English language channels available at the Inn House, it would have been better to have one broadcasting news rather than propaganda.

I will leave it to others to judge who is the intolerant one around here.

The end.

Took the words right out of my mouth!

Now that sounds a bit ominous to me, frankly! Big Brother decides what news you will hear?

Freedom means I have a right to listen and decide for myself. I kind of like it that way, thank you. There are sources from all sides that have a right to be heard IMO. Doesn't mean I have to believe them, support them or agree with them. There is much on radio and television that I don't agree with. But I'll always defend their right to be heard.
