Just out of curiousity I was checking Travelocities web page for flights from Pittsburgh Pa to Bkk I found a ticket available for 695 USD. I can't use the available dates. But just thought I'd give a heads up to anyone thinking of flying United during these dates. Availability is limited to certain dates but the price can't be beat IMO. Just play with the dates a little and you might get lucky. I don't know if they are offering these fares from other places just thought I give a heads up.

Suggest you check those same sites frequently, as often as daily. I have seen bargains pop-up suddenly.....and often. Orbitz is pretty reliable, and a little easier to navigate than Travelocity, but they're both good. Happy New Year to everyone, and I am REALLY upset about the recent tragedy down south. If it's your thing,

now would be a good time to pray......ErnieK

:nod EveAirlines$595 in Febuary departure. CathayPacific $798 same day comparison for a month stay but is good for 3 mos. if needed, open end! :D Why is it, that when ever there is a health crises the big boys scramble to keep the machine oiled but when things are normal they squeeze you for all you got? :D What will it take, to bring the prices down to the $400's? 2guns Maybe, another earthquake and a chicken flu! 2guns

Northwest just announced a miles for cash deal. Not sure if LOS is included but worth a try to check out their website www.nwa.com. I think for sure you could use it for part of the trip say MSP to Narita.

Pilots just took another 15% pay cut.

Are you getting those prices from the United website? I'm looking for a departure in mid January and they are showing fares around $1200 from Sacramento.

yeah I am geting them from the united website. Whne I lived in sac sometimes I would rent a car from sac airport and drop it off at sfo. Sometimes sac has the same price as sfo sometime hundreds more. I also usually plan on flying out on a wed or thur and return monday thru thur. Thats the lowest prices. Once I have found a low fare pair then I will try and see if I get get a similiar price on the weekend. But United has been doing some strange things on pricing. Sometimes their website has fares that are not offrered on travelocity or any other site. Some times they will show a fare of 1200 and a low fare alternative flying out the same day and times for 725. Their software need some serious attention. Once gave me a fare of 296 round trip to singapore. What would they have done if I had purchased that ticket? I am not sure?

Check the same days for sfo and see what the prices are. It might be owrth your while. EVA has some really cheap fares. I just don't use them becuase I earn so many miles on United. I usualy take at least 1 free trip to LOS each year on miles. This last year I did 2 free trips in BIZ class. 2guns

Cowboy,

Last year I checked their website for a trip to BKK from SFO and the price was around $1600 with a cost of $1000 if I flew from SFO to LAX then BKK and $800 if I flew from SFO to Seattle and then on to BKK. I thought maybe if I put Sacramento into the departure city I would get the same $800 fare by flying Sacramento to Seattle to BKK. I was shocked when the quoted fare was less than $700 and it was Sacramento to SFO to BKK. This was the same departure dates that I had used with SFO to BKK and the same flight numbers. So by flying 90 miles to SFO instead of driving, I saved around $900. Checking the flights today on their website it showing around $1800 from Sacramento to SFO to BKK but they do offer a $1200 fare if I fly Sacramento to Chicago to BKK. I just recently qualified for Premier executive which give me double miles so I don't mind paying a little more for a United flight as it works out to fly 2 and I get one free with 8K miles left over.

NWA also just annouced low fares through May:

They also upped the sign on bonus for a credit card to 10,000 miles, and if you sign up for the cc plus do two other qualifying activities (buy from skymall, hotel stay) you get an extra 5k.

Can anybody comment on Singapore Air executive economy from EWR vs. Eva deluxe?

Just Flew sinapore economy fro HKG to SFO. Same seat pitch as United premier. Each seat had its own LCD vidoe screen with like 100 channels (movies, tv etc.)

from what i understand the eva delux would have wider seats But I have not flown eva. :chogdee :D
