CheshireTom is a regular there, and thanks to him I stayed there last trip Nov/Dec

Rooms are about 900BHT per night max, it is guest friendly, and the service staff are cool. Also has 2 very HOT receptionists, and got a few laughs from them, and am sure one of them wanted to see the inside of my Hotel room 1luv

Does NOT have a swimming pool though, but you get to use the ones in sabai lodge just over the road.

Rooms are clean, and comfortable, cleaned daily and bar sorted - got extra pillows when I asked for them aswell.

Also would recommend the massage place on the left as you come out of the hotel and walk about 10 meters - Ya and Noi. Nothing hinky here, just a very good massage, and the girls are great and friendly.

They always tried to get the towel off me after the massage as I would walk back to the hotel in nothing but the towel to have a shower - fun games,

Room service comes from the Sala Thai restaurant across the street. Excellent food (IMO) and they have a pretty good European menu. It's not 24 hours, tho.

If you don't plan on spending any time at the hotel, I'd go with the Inn. If you are, I would recommend crossing the street and staying at the Lodge. A little more expensive, but I've never had a problem there. And it is guest friendly.

Don't forget to tip. It pays off. The room key comes attached to a stick you drop in the slot to turn the lights on. I made a comment to the maid about how her's didn't have a key... and she produced another one from her cleaning cart. Told me to hang onto it while I was there. It was nice coming back from a night out to find my room already cool. Just shut the lights off.

I haven't stayed at the Inn, but did stay at the Lodge across the street for three weeks once. Either place should be great. The pool across the street is great. Just pull up a chair, order a Heineken, and relax. The food from the bar comes from the restaurant. Pretty good. Right down the streeet there's a bunch of soapy massage places, some great beer bars, and, across the street, Big C. You could spend your entire vacation right on that block, although I wouldn't recommend it.

The Sabai Inn is a great hotel. I can't imagine how much they'd charge if it was in Europe.

When I first arrived in Pattaya I think I spent nearly a whole week here. As a newcomer I must have barfined a girl from the third bar I went in to on my first night. That was day one. Then I discovered Classroom 2 on my second night, it was my new friend who told me that I could use the pool at the Sabai Lodge. :D

I stayed at Sabai Inn for a few days in 2003. It was a last minute situation and they said they only had one room available. The price was right so I took it.

The room was appointed nicely but it was an interior room without an outside view. I did have an excellent view of the hallway though if I openned the curtains! I highly recommend these rooms for exhibitionists. <laugh

I was wondering what you all have found to be the difference between standard and superior rooms? The website doesn't detail the difference. Are all standards interior rooms?

I have stayed ther 2 times and im happy, good staff and nice and clean rooms i belive that the diffrens between the rooms are that superior have a bathtub and are slightly bigger, standard rooms only have shower and no window, bouncer

I stayed in the Sabai Inn for nearly 3 weeks in July/August, and would certainly stay there again. I did not make a reservation but did a walk-in or should I say a "limp in" as I had just run the marathon on 18 July. I think the price was 800 with an extra 100 for the superior rooms. The porter showed me both types of room, which looked identical to me, and wispered in my ear "all room same", so I took the standard option. In July/August the price did include an afternoon cup of tea/coffee and a cake (I'm always one for a freeby !)

My room was large and comfortable, with a window, and came with an efficient shower but not a bath. They have a very excellent snooker table in the lobby which was a plus for me as I am very partial to the game (mis-spent youth followed by a mispent old age !), although I struggled to find opponents - most guys had other recreations on their minds.

The difference between the rooms is that the standard rooms do not have:

A bathtub - a bonus for me as I have a nasty habit of falling over when showering in a bath. I actually prefer the much larger shower cubicle in the standard rooms.

Coffee/tea making hot water thingy. You know .... one of those big flask-type things you plug in and press the top down to get hot water.

Hair dryer - as if that's on my list of priorities! :P

There are both standard and superior "internal" rooms. Floors 1 and 2 = standard, 3 and 4 = superior.

I always book a room nearest to the rear of the hotel (X01 or X12) - quiet, plus you only have a neighbour on one side (your TG can be as vocal as she wants!)and they have all been redecorated recently.

All the rooms also now benefit from recently added, large electronic safety boxes in addition to the safety boxes behind reception.

Someone made the comment before that the towels smelt musky. That problem should be rectified soon as the Group is building a new laundry on Soi 2 (where the Tropical Bar was located).

I stayed at the Sabai inn in early 2002. Nice hotel, girl friendly and they do ID checks. The have security boxes behind the check-in desk. I paid about 900 baht and room was big. Good luck. :D

cheers

Thanks CheshireTom. That's exactly what I needed. I'm trying to decide between Areca and Sabai Inn for a trip in June.

In 2003 and stayed at both and was satisfied with both. They are about the same price (Arcea 990b and Sabai Inn 900b). Both have the complimentary breakfast.

I thought Areca was nicely designed. I liked the bright room with a balcony. I heard they have a fitness room now as well. Sabai Inn had a better location though and a much larger room. I need sunlight so I definitely wouldn't stay there if I couldn't get a room with a window for a decent price. The room safe is a selling point as well.

Decisions, decisions...
