My first post!

Booked flights for July, first time inThailand.

Spent quite a while reading the posts and have noticed in general people do not recommend using their credit card to book accomodation.

Also noticed alot of people recommending the Lek hotel.

Has any booked through www.asiatravel.com ?

Don't know whether to book now for the Lek using CC or wait until I arrive and hope there is a room available?

Anyone with experiene of doing this, did everything go to plan? :D

I have used Asiatravel.com to book an apartment at the Mayfair Marriott in Bangkok using my credit card. No problem at all. Execllent place to stay !

I have also stayed at the Majestic Suites in Bangkok, booked with a credit card via asia-hotels.com. No problem.

When I checked in at the majestic suites, I just told the check in lady I wanted to pay cash up front and not show them my credit card. No problem.

I have stayed at the Inn House hotel in soi 13 Pattaya and booked direct with them. I just said I don't give out my detail over the internet and that I would pay in Cash. A weeks stay in their best suite was about 10,000 baht. Gave them 5000 on check in and paid the rest on check out. No problem and I could move after a few days ( 5000 bahts worth ) if I didn't like it.

I would be concerned about giving my credit details direct to a smaller less well known hotel. Especially if there are reports of credit card cloning at the hotel.

I always try to pay with cash but sometimes you don't have much choice.

in july its still low season and most hotels will be greatfull for a walk in and will in most cases give a better rate than a booking agent .the LEK is good i stayed there last year and had no problems but i would not pay with CC any where in se asia pm me if you want the whole story about the LEK

I also recommend that you go the walk in method. Things are slow at that time of the year and with new hotels opening every month in Pattaya you shouldn't have any trouble finding a good deal.

I would agree with everyone else. With the notable exceptions of Xmas, Songkran and Chinese New Year you will always find somewhere to stay when you arrive. :P

If you haven't been before, book one of the stalwarts by e-mail. No one has ever asked me for credit card details and they have always had my room ready. :P

Perhaps consider the following-

Sabai Lodge

Sabai Inn

Dynasty

Sunshine

Lek hotel

These will all take your booking via e-mail and none will dissapoint!

Congratulations on your first post!

as any hotel, they will hold your reservations till 4or6pm depending on the hotel without deposit (CC) in advance. if you have a late flight into LOS and need a room just make a reservation garunteed with CC to hold room past 6pm gor one night. you can call and alert your CC company the days and dates you will be in LOS and tell them.

i've stayed at the Lek, in the cheap section and enjoyed it at 750bt per night, could of got it for 700bt if paid a weeks stay in cash in advance. low season you can get an addition 100bt less.

cheers

I stayed at the Lek in January. Standard room in the new wing (1200 baht per day).

All I had to do was to send them an e-mail checking for availability of rooms, and another to confirm my booking.

No credit cards were involved, excellent Hotel.

As for Bangkok, I used Asia travel, had to give them a credit card number for confirmation, but paid the hotel in cash, no problems.

The hotel was the Grand President in soi 11, centrally located, and I do recommend it.

I have used asiarooms.com many times. Good service and have never experienced any problems. I have found their rates to be excellent. Have also used precisionreservations.com as well. Sometimes they come up even cheaper still. Never had a problem with either.

When searching for rooms in Thailand I have found asiatravel.com always worked out more expensive than the other thai internet booking services.

Lets know how you get on.
