20 or so Beer Bars shut down

Recommended Posts

Many of the beer bars to the south of Soi 9 on Second Road and Beach Road, next to the empty field, have shut down as of last night. The land will be used for new construction.

Dao Kai, Thai Thae and a number of others are finished in that location. I always liked hanging there...less noisy and impersonal than Soi 7/8...and frequently a good place to find new girls.

I do know that Thai Thae has opened a new location across the street in the "Made in Thailand" location. If you know anyone there, drop by and give them some business...it'll be slow for a while with people learning to cross 2nd Road drunk.

No doubt there will have been some gullible farangs buying into beer bars there in the last few months despite the fact that the writing has been on the wall for some time !!!!!!!

As for asking people to cross 2nd Road whilst drunk, then I hope you will be picking up the hospital bills ?

:banghead Would you?

No, but I'm not asking them to go and give the bar business, thus inciting them to cross 2nd Road :beer

Hell, I wouldn't even advise anyone to stay in an hotel on the other side of 2nd Road.

most of the bars that closed have re-located just over the other side of 2nd road and up to soi baykhow others have had the pleasure of owning other bars and gone to look after them , when they nock down the bars they plan to build a hotel ,and condo,s and shopping mall there , i used to drink in chang bar 2 on beach road but will miss it very much as i was going there for 5 years but luckly martin also owns a bar in soi 6 called goodfellas so will stop there for a few beers etc,

Shape of things to come, I think.

The land between 2nd and Beach Rds is too valuable to have beer bars on it, the real value is in malls and hotels.

But, all is not lost.

Look at the beer bar construction east of 2nd Rd and soi Buakhow.

My guess is that the city worthies certainly don't want to kill the golden goose as the eggs pay for a lot of things, however they will shunt the nightlife away from the prime real estate and contain it in a less conspicuous location.

No pompem, beer is beer and girls are girls so no big deal where they are, IMO.

I noticed this activity last month at the Made in Thailand beer bar complex. In an area that in the past had about 3 or 4 active beer bars and another 6 or so vacant beer bars along with some small shops, they now had about a dozen active beer bars with another dozen being constructed with the shops gone. In addition a small soi run along side which will take you over to 2 more new beer bar complexes on Soi Buakaow. This area on Soi Buakaow is rapidly growing with bars and hotels, I wonder when someone will put in the first go-go for this area?

Well, you better be careful going there, as terranova thinks it's too dangerous.

If I followed terranova's advice not only couldn't I be in this area but I would never be able to visit Soi 7/8 or Walking St. I live on the other side of 3rd Rd so I guess I'm really pushing my luck in that I'm crossing 3rd Rd and 2nd Rd a few times every day. :chogdee

The poll took that into account and that's why you're only going to live to 88.6 :nod

i was speaking to a bar owner a couple of months ago who has a couple of bars in soi's 7 and 8. He reckoned that within 18 months all the bars in that area will be closed and land developed. said that the push is on to move bars to the sukhumvit side of 2nd road, and up to soi bukhow.

any one hearing the same thing??

I've been looking at Soi Buakhao for a year or so but the profile doesn't work for me. It is the ultimate cheap charlies area but admittedly some increased entertainment. However, some places are still giving beer away virtually.

The problem is that people are not really going to go there for a night out if their hotels are near the beach. Cheap fuckers will of course, but they will likely stay in a Bt300 room in or just off Soi Buakhao.

Perhaps a bar and guest house would work, but probably only outright purchase I think.
