I am booked at majestic suites in June but might change to this. Soi 2, where is it near????

Soi 2, back of the Marriott. You can cut thru the Rajah car park past Annies and get to Nana that way or walk round the Sukhumvit way plus the new shopping mall on the corner of Soi3 and Suk should be open soon.

Stayed there on three separate occasions over the last couple of weeks, and I loved it. Everything virtually brand new and in perfect working order, good falang/Thai buffet breakfast, gym, and fantastic friendly staff. Small pool on the 7th floor, which doesn't seem to catch much sun. A nice touch was when they saw from my passport that it was my birthday, and sent up a cake. Good location; nice and quiet (great views over the city, too) but a quick walk through the Ra-Jah and you're in the glorious madness of Soi Nana. Also handy for the embassies, Skytrain, etc. I believe it's guest friendly (wasn't in a position to find out directly) and would probably impress your lady, with lots of smiles, wai's and door-opening. Normal room rate is 2,900, but they gave me 2,500 each time as long as I paid at the Majestic suites and collected a voucher. Recommended.

Gents

Stayed twice on last trip at Majestic GRANDE

22/24 Oct and 30/31 Oct

My new favorite in Bkk

(fyi- i have 22 trips in 4 yrs)

On Soi 2, same as JW Marriott

BEWARE- taxi drivers will take you to wrong one!!!

Location:

Great, walk out front door, cutting across soi 2

Past Annies massage

Lands you on Soi 4

1 block or so to Nana Plaza

Cross Sukumvite to Soi 5 - Foodland/Gullivers/Amari

Cut thru the alley - Soi 7 Beir Garden

then Eden at Soi 7/1

Price:

Steep(relitivly so)

2900 for standard

3900 for upgrade

also have larger suites

Quality:

I like it better than Marriott

Girl Friendly:

Yew bet

Guests leave ID card at bell desk

(checked in 30 Nov at 4 pm - check out 31 Nov 530 am)

(brought thru 5 "guests", no problem..except a sore dick!)

Booking:

did it on line, no problem

Price justification:

I stay in Pattaya for the bulk of my trips

I pay @ 1,100 per nite there

Staying one nite in Bkk getting in country

hitting mbk, etc

Then leaving Pattaya the day before i fly out

"One nite in Bangkok" like the song

So WTF, walking to all the hotspots close by

Safe and secure for a Bkk Bombing run

JMHOO (just my humble opionated opinion)

Criticism that this hotel doesn't measure up to the Marriott or another real five-star hotel is unfair, at least so long as the promo price -- which includes a good breakfast -- is in effect. It's true you can see where the owners cut corners to save money -- just two elevators, basic bathroom fixtures -- but this is a comfortable and good mid-ground alternative. Big con for me is the large number of Middle Eastern families, including women dressed in black, and other non-sanukers. Pool area is also small. Otherwise, the location can't be beat.

A good option for mid range hotels with good location. A great deal at 10 nights for Bt20,000. I would still prefer the JWM but getting a good price there is more and more difficult. I find BKK hotels crap value wise these days at around Bt1000-1700.
