BBC bias? Ever read the Daily Record?

Erm ...... the Daily Record is a SCOTTISH publication (I hesitate to call it a newspaper). It is published in Glasgow and thus has a strong west coast bias, never mind any Scottish bias it may have. IMHO it ranks marginally above the Sun and the Star, which aint saying much. :beer

As for the BBC bias, you only need to watch their football preview on a Saturday afternoon. The ENGLISH premiership matches are all gone into in depth, but when it comes to the SCOTTISH Premier League, we're lucky if we get 90 seconds. Now THAT is what I call fucking bias in favour of England. :beer :beer :cry1 :bj2 :D :clap2

BBC i think it's called British broadcasting company,us being the English fly the union jack and sing the British national anthem.

When have the taffs jocks or paddy's regarding themselves as British? so it's not biassed it's showing the British people what they want.

Ok they can have a special round-up of Scottish,Irish and Welsh football,"where will they show it who will watch it?"you can't even get anyone into the grounds to watch it so i'm pretty sure no fuckers gonna watch it on the t.v.

Take care Alan :finger :chogdee2

Winnie,

I was under the impression that there are usually 50,000 or more at Old Firm games in Glasgow. And many fans (not F......s) watch it on TV.

It must be galling to be paying huge amounts to keep Northern Ireland going, and they have not the decency to let England beat them. I do hope they at least they respected the British National Anthem 1luv

Unable to check as I was watching our lacklustre lot lose to a far from brilliant France. 1luv

Good win for Scotland in Norway.

How many old firm games in 1 year??? :D Your obviously Irish so do you think the rest of Great Britain needs or wants to watch their football? it would be good to see the viewing figures around the U.K for watching the Irish,Scotish and Welsh leagues (not just 2 teams from Scotland) it's beyond me if you think there would be more people want to watch than the English league, can you explain your reasons for this i would love to hear them??

Alan, I mentioned the Daily Record because of the daily anti-English rantings. The Sun and Mirror show remarkable restraint and limit their racist rants to the Germans and French.

To the Scottish in general, if the game is so shit hot in Scotland, why do your best teams want to join the English Premiership? That would mean even more BBC highlights of the game the English invented.

For a thread about Not Football, you guys have done well to turn it into a discussion about the game.

Interesting to see the not watch vote is creeping ahead.

You were making a previous point that no one went to see Scottish Irish or Welsh football. The big two in Glasgow get massive home attendances for League and European fixtures not just for 4 Old Firm league games. The BBC showed Old Firm games live for a few seasons on all their regions until Setanta secured the rights so presumably they felt there was a demand for them. :grin-jump

Of course I do not think there are more people want to watch Scottish Football than English Football. The population of England is 8/9 times that of Scotland. Apart from small populations Ireland and Wales also suffer from the fact that football is not their national game. :nod

Both Celtic and Rangers want to get into the Premier League to get their hands on some of that money to enable them to compete more effectively in the transfer market. The usual lack of real competition hampers them when they make the step up to European level. To head off the howls of outrage from Edinburgh I better add that they have been getting plenty of competition so far this season. :clueless

The Scottish Premier League has been a 2 horse race for a number of seasons now with the rest of the teams realistically fighting for 3rd place. Hearts have made a good start to the season so far, but with apologies to Jambo  , I really can't see them maintaining this throughout the year. Rangers and Celtic have both got off to bad starts and Celtic will doubtless be doubly anxious to do well in the league as they are no longer involved in Europe.

Rangers have made the group stages of the European Cup but it's anyone's guess as to how far they'll go. There is too big a gap between the top 2 in the Scottish Premier League and as a result both Rangers and Celtic want to join the English Premiership where they will be guaranteed more challenging games on a more regular basis. It would also benefit them financially and enable them to compete more effectively in the transfer market.

The remaining clubs in Scotland don't want Rangers and Celtic to move as without them THEIR finances would suffer. They seem to overlook the fact that the league would be much more competitive. The provincial clubs also suffer from having what I call "fair weather" fans. In other words, if they're struggling, they don't come along to give their team some much needed encouragement.

I love watching the world cup soccer. I look forward to it every 4 years. The games are so dramatic. If i was in pattaya during this time, id specifically be looking for beer bars that i could watch games in. More fun than connect4 and close the box.

Thanks, Poskat

Scotland up 12 places, though I hate to think how low they would have sunk if that cunt of a manager Vogts hadn't been kicked out on his arse. Northern Ireland up 15 places too.

If you want bias on the BBC try Jonathan Davies rugby commentary.

Example (imagine welsh accent).

'Oh no England had a terrible game today they were just awful.'

(er but Jonathan England weren't playing today it was Ireland V Scotland)

'Oh yes I know that but IF England had played either or those teams today which they did in a way then they would have had a terrible game played awful they did.'

(er yeah right Jonathan so next week is England V Wales who do you expect to win, OK silly question)

Repeat ad nausea.

Anyway I'll let you girls get back to poofball...

Bollocks.

If you want biased commentaries look no further than prize prick Nigel Starmer-Smith, and if you want to top it off with a ridiculously poor grasp of the rules (especially for such a capped player) then Brian Moore's your man.

I'm not saying that Davies is impartial but he's a damn side better than most of the others, its just he's a rarity in that he doesn't lean towards your lot.

What about that cunt Hanson on the beeb Liverpool and Scotland only for him, he hates England and should never be allowed to offer his biassed annalysis on England matches

Dont know if he hates England but i tell you what he doent half get on my nerves and I'm a Scotsman. He is arrogant and smug. His accent and descriptions grate on me. And like most of these so called experts has never been in the management hot seat. Yet they seem to know it all and can criticise every manager of every team.

Give me the guys who have been managers(Peter Reid, Terry Veneables, Alan Curbishley). I will listen to what they have to say. They know what its like to run a team and all the day to day problems that go along with it.

Hansen is nauseating. :grin-jump

And the English commentators aren't biased in favour of England? :clueless

The best commentator has to be the now retired Bill McLaren. He was unbiased in his commentry even when his son-in-law was playing (and scoring a try) for Scotland. The BBC apparently wanted him to commentate on football matches but he refused to give his beloved rugby.

Pitbull was a hooker. Rules? He probably doesn't even know there are rules.

Agree Starmer-Smith is a prick.

Old Bumface is good but dosen't seem to get a lot of work as everyone hates him.

Scotland scoring a try? Sorry don't remember that I'm only 44.
