I just booked 3 weeks with Sawasdee Sea View. I got the internet rate at bt 900. Not too bad in my opinion. I always stay at the Royal Palace but wanted to try something new. Sawasdee Sea View is located on Soi 10 so I'm a little a ways from Walking Street that was only a 3 minute walk from Royal Palace. Anyways I'm looking for either positive or negative feedback before committing to this hotel. Thanks ... Nate! :D

I've stayed at Sawasdee Sea View almost 2 years ago when I bought their buy one get one night promo for 12000B at the TAT tourism fair in Bangkok. 1200B is completely the wrong price, but I figured at 600B a night I could give it a try. Anyway, staying there I thought it was worth the 600B.

There is no pool, and the building is nestled in tightly using about every bit of land they have there. There was a lot of thai people staying there during my stay. Decent location -- just a few minutes walk down the soi from the beach.

The set breakfast, included in the price I had, left me feeling hungry still.

Hi

I stayed there years ago before they built a much larger block next to it. It's the new hotel wing you will be staying in I'm sure. I had no complaints about the hotel facilities(good value for money) but I felt they tried to overcharge me a few times, so instead of creating trouble I voted with my feet and have not been back since. Staff may be ok now.

I stay at the old section of the hotel in july 2003 for a ridiculous price 1200 bahts for 7 nights... No lift, but my room was with seaview and it's 100 meter to beach road and 5-10 minutes walk to the south. The new section look really good with flashy room. If you change for about 600-800 baht the neighbour Nautical Inn, soi 11, the oldest hotel of Pattaya, offer large garden and nice room.

Hi

I think it was 3000 a month then. It was good, as lots on cable, good a/c, seaview,

room clean and reasonable size. I'd have stayed long time then only had to go back to work. :D

I did a lot of research before I finally settled at the Areca Lodge. My next and final choice (all things considered) was Sawadee Sea view. The only reason I changed mind at the final moment (and at greater cost) was the 1 or 2 negative posts I've read about SSV. Those posts included; no pool, far from the action, poor rooms..

In the end... the only reason I did not book is no pool.. After I get drunk for several days a nice respite by the pool is very comforting (you can use the other pools the company owns, but you have to travel to do so). The rooms in this section are "new" and do have in-room safes ( a big plus). Guest friendly and only 10 baht bus ride to walking street (I was told).

I will have to check it out myself when I get there because I feel I may have made a hasty decision to cancel. ON the other hand, I have heard NOTHING BAD about the Areca Lodge.. FYI. Have fun!! ( I will)

I stayed there last June.

I found it a nice little place, out of the way, quiet and clean. The price was great, as I was paying 750 baht a nite for a queen sized room. Very comfortable, and being on Soi 10, it was just far enough away to feel relaxed when not indulged too deeply in all the action. Walking distance, easily, to anything when you're sober, but a trek when totally shitfaced drunk. LOL

The ladies I brought home didn't seem offended by my residence, and the hotel staff were very "girl friendly"; with one night I returned early (just to shower before I went out again) and one of the bell-boys out front seemed concerned that I was without company and offered to go retrieve something for me.

I left booking a room for New Year a bit late, just about everywhere i've tried is booked, but the Sea View have offered me a standard double room in Wing A (the old wing) for 600 baht / night. Krowdon, you say the hotel is guest-friendly, were you there June 2005? I only ask because i've seen mixed reports about the hotel's guest friendliness policy.

Cheers

Nick

Will be there in a week, have stayed at Sunshine Soi8 and Flipper Soi7 so will let you know.

Main issus from my point of view is there is no pool, but i never used sunshine pool (and they have 2) and used flipper pool twice......so for me the lack of a pool is (surprisingly) not a biggy.

My main issue is will my scooter be safe when I park it there, guess a few hundred bart will fix that.

I seem to remember reading a thread about Asia Rooms. Something to do with no booking being made.

I'll see if I can find it.

hello all, just registered on the site though i'll probably call myself a seasoned traveller to pattaya. I've read some of the reviews for this hotel & i too will be staying there in january. i'm hoping this is a good hotel like the Lek hotel on soi 13 which having stayed there three times is very good & staff very friendly.

Hi guys! B)

I used to stay at the old wing of Sawasdee Seaview back in year 2000.

It was dirt cheap then for 250 baht a night for a walk in price on an aircon room!

The room was very small just a bed and a simple little metal chair in one corner, there was a tiny TV with very bad viewing only the thai channels where visible!

It stood on a rickety little table in front of a mirror, so the girls had to lean over the tv to put their make up on! Aircon was lousy, big noisy oldfashioned machine under the window no remote and you could not regulate the airflow! No balkonies, if you leaned out of the window and looked left you might catch a glimpse of the sea between the trees, only view otherwise was over the pool of the hotel next door where you could see the wealthier tourists having fun! The bathroom was very tiny as well. the door was halfeaten by mould and wouldn't close! Worst problem was that there wasn't any closet to put your clothes or bags in! Just a bar with a few hangers on! Another thing is that lots of junkies stayed here too, so it wasn't the quietest of hotels at night! Best with the place is the location next to beach road and back then the price, but if they haven't improved the rooms and for a price of 600 baht up I would give the dump a miss! :banghead Only good for a night or two while you are looking for a better place! Loads of better newer hotels up at Soi Bua Khao from 450 baht up!

Remember this review was about the situation some years ago so things might have changed, but I wouldn't book a room there without having a look first!

The newer wing in Sea View B was built just a 2-3 years ago and is another story, never been inside, but seems to be much better according to all good reviews it gets on this board, think the rooms features also in some of the videoclips from mrrobj's trip reports!

Cheers! :banana plahgat

Hi guys! :banana

Remember this review was about the situation some years ago so things might have changed, but I wouldn't book a room there without having a look first!

I did a lot of research on accommodations before I booked at Sawadee Seaview. Many people had opined this was a great wing and an incredible deal. I was booked and ready to go. I still think (based upon my dogged research) that this is a fine hotel. In the end? No pool on site. I need a pool for those hangover days when I can't move and just want to feel the rented tits.. :bj2 Went to Areca...
